  1. The Fish is brushed, the Skyland is highly polished. Both are good quality, not gen but good.
  2. 112H is probably his best. Simple and clean, hard to screw that up.
  3. I ordered two Skylands, one Slate, one Blue dial. When the package arrived I mistakenly thought I had been sent two Slate dial watches. It wasn't until I moved to a well lit are that I realised that one of them was indeed Blue. And what a beautiful Blue it is. It isn't a vibrant blue like the Fish. It's much more Slate like in colour. Completely different from the Fish. So what am I saying: The Skyland is well built, similar in size, and great value. So buy a Skyland in Blue, wear it for a while and time will help you decide. I'm sure it would sell easily if you change your mind.
  4. If it hadn't been this issue it would have been something else. Can't wait for the pics.
  5. OK, I'm convinced. Will have to buy one. Thanks for posting.
  6. Looks sweet. My t crown is in the mail and I'm not fussed about the teeth number. Strap looks great also, a really nice combo. Looking forward to the photos of the final product.
  7. That's a rare on indeed. Shame about the condition but I'm sure it would clean up. Thanks for the heads up By-Tor.
  8. It would be a privilege to own the gen, most envious. My DSN rep is the watch that receives more attention, is the most comfortable, and most distracting when I drive; can't stop looking at it.
  9. I have a 090 also, how do you get rid of the date pusher? Interesting movement and project.
  10. Nice feeling to finally take delivery and your not disappointed after all of the anticipation. I received mine recently and apart from the Bezel alignment problem, which I'll have fixed, I'm very happy. You might like to consider a Skyland next. I got one and the quality is almost as good. Wear in good health, paulw
  11. For a Breitling go with a gen or if you want to save some bucks go with a Bob(waccex.de) There seems to be a culture of acceptance to use an after market quality on a PAM. On a Breitling only gen or a Bob seems to be acceptable. But hey, you can always do what ever you want.
  12. Thanks for another great review By-Tor, I've been waiting for this one. By the way it was one of your Navitimer reviews that got me involved in the rep world. I think the only solution here is to have both. I have always loved the superceded model and was disappointed when the Ceramic was released. Sort of like when a new model of a car is released and you think, no, like the old one better. But after a few years you can see that the change had to happen. It did take a trip to the AD for me to come to this conclusion though. The feel of the Ceramic is what one would expect of a luxury item: smooth, creamy , and expensive in a way the previous model doesn't provide. Just gotta have both!!
  13. Have a look at the topic titled: Skyland now on leather. Looks pretty good.
  14. I see your point about the thickness of the straps compared to the bulk of the Watch. But there is a good reason why you have never seen a SC strap on a Breitling. Problem is, what is true for a PAM, doesn't always hold true for a Breitling. Even gen PAM owners will sometimes use non gen straps but very rarely do you see a Breitling sporting anything other than a Breitling strap. I plan on purchasing a gen Breitling strap for my grey dial Skyland.
  15. This guy must be living in another world than me. I just couldn't do it.
  16. I might be interested in that Gen 7750 Chief. Just need to work out whether it will fit in my new Skyland without any issues.
  17. The blue is so nice, should have ordered that. Hang on a minute, I did. Then why did a grey dial turn up? Guess it's a lottery.
  18. Freddy333's pole suggests that both run at about a 50% failure rate. However, anecdotal evidence suggests the IHS might be a little better. Ziggy has done an in depth review and the result isn't favourable. Do a search and make up your own mind. Hope that helps?
  19. Yeh, I tend to agree with that statement. These Crowns are not 1:1 with the gen so they fit a case that isn't 1:1. Question is: will the extra 12 teeth make a noticable difference to the appearance, will it be a standout tell? 750, man that's a bummer.
  20. Fair comment. But if they can make the Skyland, SA, SOSF, and others so good then why not the Navi? Probably because the only way to fix the recessed Date wheel on a Tricompax is to use a 7753. It simply wouldn't be a volume seller and the factories work on volume.
  21. That Denim strap looks cool. On the order front I have two Skylands(Blue dial & grey dial), a SOSF, a PAM111H to be modded with V's C/G and a t Crown, Ziggy Lume etc. An 088, oh what else? oh yes and a GMT11 I'm about to order. I'm also expecting a PAM090 and a 212 back from the Master following some work so there is plenty of anticipation and travelling to the Post Office.
  22. Another great review By-Tor. You never cease to amaze me with your photo and journalistic skills. Regarding the Watch, looks like this will go on my shopping list also. With the current crop of Watches sitting so high on the wrist I'm looking for something with a lower profile, and with a white face. A classic design which should age well.
