  1. Congrats on a good test. I have found out the hard way that the ultimate test is not swimming or showering but rather taking it into a steam room. I had one rep that I had taken swimming numerous times but the minute I left it on in a steam shower I had moisture all over the dial. Of course my solution of sticking it in a toaster at modest temperatures did not work out to well either.

Actually ROLEX dose not advise their watches to be used near steam or steam rooms. At least that was what the watchmaker told me?

  2. I was once in an AD Rolex showroom, it is about the only one where I live, there are only a couple of crusty old models...

Anyway the dealer saw I was wearing a turn-o-graph and assumed it was real, as it was (and still is) an excellent replica from Joshua. He asked to try it on.

    no sir ee bob.

Please post a pic of your turnograph. All the ones ive seen have really awful date wheels.

  3. I dont think most people on this board wear fakes to impress others. Most of the people on here have a watch fetish. Honestly your not going to impress anyone with a steel anything. Now if your wearing GOLD now thats a different story. The rappsters have took that to a unreachable level (unless you make seven figures).

  4. I've told this story here before, but I think it's worth repeating...

My local AD had a guy bring in a rep Rolex Datejust for repair. He bought it assuming it was real. They sent it back to Rolex and in a few weeks, got a letter from their legal department saying that they are keeping the watch, as it has their trademark on it, and suggested that the gentleman purchase a genuine Rolex from an authorized dealer.

If the bank sends your counterfeit bill back to the treasury dept., you don't get it back either.

Tragic tale, but look on the bright side. You have one hellofa story that you won't soon forget. You should be able to get a lot of milage out of this one. This is up there with Nanuk's tossing his sub(dweller?) rep into the ocean, to the horror of several onlookers. (if you haven't read that, it's worth a search, I don't know if it's here or on the old forum)

This is so true I was advised this from my Rolex Dealer ( Reis Nichols) The sells person had never seen a 1680 and thought it might be fake. I know people on this board get mad at me but you really do need to keep your reps out of AD show rooms.

  5. Its not that hard to understand, there are differant labor ethics in differant parts of the country... People in some places just work harder or are more diligent then others. Texas for example, I would imagine know more about rolexes then most customs agents (as HK says they are the texas timex).

Interesting fact about Texas is that its illegal for women to own a vibrator I wonder if the power ranger custom agents confiscate those too?

  6. Did you offer to pay extra shipping for the second one? I can't see why he would' say no if you did... I ordered a few watches from Andrew and they came through just fine to this address so keep the fingers crossed.

He didn't offer he said not to worry everything will be fine. We will see. I think the dealers dont want to alarm us I think a fair amount of parcels get tagged maybe as high as 1 out of every 12.

  7. That sucks At least you got your watches. I just ordered 2 tt subs from andrew Almost $600. I asked him to ship them separate he said they only ship one parcel with a order of two watches. I really hope I just get stuck with taxes if anything arises but with my luck they'll take the whole parcel

  8. Ive kept their name private but this is one of the PMs I received.

and i am located in the USA. upstate NY.

    are you in the USA?

i will ship internationally.. but at buyers responsibility.

i have many trades on all the watch boards and on the @bay.

    $600 all inclusive. includes...

    1. MBW/WM watch, genuine eta2836 movement, rare all white dial not the silly red letter dial that would be foolish to wear, never fooled with or worn, sits in watch box

    2. vintage folded and screwed bracelet with all links. approx. $100

    3. two (2) genuine Sector travel cases (very thick leather, italian made) approx. $40 each. -included

    4. all shipping paid by me, including insurance (USA) and paypal fees covered, not extra.

  9. Tony are you also worried about delivery:

    http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=190877

or have you had a nasty letter?

    JTB

Yes and no. Im more worried about being out of $600 dollars than Rolex suing me. Honestly not to sound like a tuff guy they cant get blood from a turnip lol. I guess If they wanted to they could send me to jail but I think they got more beef with the dealers than the people that buy these things.

  10. It will be interesting to see how many of us have been affected by customs.

Sorry only 2 of the 4 options seem to be working.

This is lame sorry, I guess we could lump the categories of package held by customs, paid tax to customs and nasty letter all in the "Received nasty letter from Rolex option.

  11. I just bought two from Andrew Black&Blue. I bought the models that have the correct "solid gold" middle link. I know all the flaws on this watch crown too big, gold off color ect. Ill never wear it around people who know these watches but that goes for all my reps. So does anyone have these watches? What are your impressions? I have read By-tors excellent article but the models he reviewed had the incorrect middle links. Are the newer versions of this watch better than the models he reviewed. Im worried now cause im reading stories of brass tarnishing through gold in as little as a couple of weeks?

  12. This is all I have not sure if its a hack movement Tried to sell It once on ebay bid up to 2500 but I paid 5000. I put it on the Ultimate Rolex Forum too got a offer of 2700 what a insult !

    Its a Circa 78

  13. Nah mate... the gen datewheel print is bolder then the mbw's print itself... the only thing that the CN Sub date wheel has going for it is that it is silver... (Nice watch btw... i have a similar one with a aftermarket 127, aftermarket insert on a mbw/wm rivetted bracelet.) some of my own home modding ... you can do these ones up to a decent spec ... but imho the cn case isn't as accurate as the mbw .

I agree that The MBW is a better watch save the movement.

This is my Gen BTW. Its a bastard watch with a 5513 case back.
