  1. +1 on this idea. It may quickly become my favorite section. I'll definitely post my vintage "[censored]" there, plus it could be extremely educational. Many forumites here have profound knowledge in old timepieces and personally I'd love to learn more on the subject.

  2. Hi Kevin,

IMHO Rolex is not for you. Really, it's an older guy's watch. Choose something fun and funky. Something interesting and quirky. Less cliche (With all due respect to Rolex)

Sure we are talking about reps, but that doesn't mean you can't choose some exciting brand as your first rep. Just note that in any case your budget will not get you a very good watch (replication-wise, or mechanically)

I have a couple of suggestions to you:

    1. Sinn U1 or U2, Fantastic watches, in your budget and replicated rather well. I'd get this one, definitely. http://www.trustytime.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=302&products_id=5233

    2. A nice Maxi Marine http://www.trustytime.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=298_300&products_id=5015

    3. Very nice Bell & Ross http://www.trustytime.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=104_220&products_id=5597

    4. The newly replicated Nomos, if you want something classy. http://www.trustytime.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=401

If you really need a Rolex, in my opinion the best choice would be Explorer 1. It's a stealth Rolex and a great classic. Also if you can go just above 200$ check out IWC Mark XV (or XVI) - the black ones, or Panerai Basic Luminor.

  3. Get it with the "gen" croc. Aftermarked straps does not suit this watch in my opinion.. I will have to get a croc later, the OEM that came with it is ok but not more than that....

Yeah, the OEM is fine, and a good replication of the "croc" but is very uncomfortable. Very stiff, just can't soften it no matter what I do...

  4. Thanks Adeo! Your 288 is not too shabby either. What photo editing program did you use to get that effect?

Thanks man, I just tweaked it a bit in photoshop. Nothing major, just a bit of curves and lighting filters.

Can I ask you where you got that strap? I was looking for something like that, raw and down-to-earth, but most of the (brown) Pan straps I've found were too classy, if you know what I mean, too "stylish"... My 288 just screams for something raw and manly :)

  5. - Dear, I was going through our bank statement, what is 3000$ at "buyh00kersonline"

    - Umm ahh, it's ... You see, I just bought this Omega Planet Ocean, dear, from a local store, a very expensive watch...

    - we can't afford it, mister! I'm selling it on ebay!

    - Mmm... K...

  6. Well, Tom

    1. People need to take care when ordering from ANY dealer. Sorry for slipping into banality, as rightfully noted by Akira.

    2. This can happen in ANY country

    3. Actually I do. Can you blame me for protecting my real identity? Seriously.

In general what I don't understand is this: if you're genuinely after some information, why haven't you PMed me up until this moment? You are most welcome to do so. If you are trying to be a sensationalist and are trying to bash me or the dealer on a public forum, that's fine by me, I'm not easily offended, but I'm not willing to participate either (although I do it as we speak, don't I!? Oh dear, I'm such a complex person... :emo-eye-roll:)

@slickdick. Pardon me, sir, I'll try much better next time. Here is some Japanese Polka, while you're waiting to be entertained by my fabulous writing.
