  1. I think it's just an issue that the Speedmaster is one of the few modern Omegas with a plexiglass crystal as opposes to sapphire. I'm sure you'll see this across the entire range of vintage Omegas with plexiglass crystals.

Yes, thanks. I talked to a friend who is an Omega AD shop owner who confirmed that

"only "plastics" have the logo, Speedmasters, Contellations, plastic Seamasters, all of them. She doesn't know when this practice has started, she thinks early 60's, but she'll try to ask for us in the next couple of days. Pre-moon speedies definitely have the logo, though"
  2. So is there a OMEGA symbol in the crystal on the genuines? like on the "plexiglass crystals"

Confirmed by my new friend / Omega AD shop owner - only "plastics" have the logo, Speedmasters, Contellations, plastic Seamasters, all of them. She doesn't know when this practice has started, she thinks early 60's, but she'll try to ask for us in the next couple of days. Pre-moon speedies definitely have the logo, though

  3. Patiently waiting for my 288 :( ..... No watch on today. Letting my wrist breathe a lil bit

That's it, man. You are officially banned!! :D

    J/K.

Can't wait to see your new 288. I know you'll love it. Personally I've seen all the pictures, went to AD's to try it on etc, but when it arrived I was simply blown away by the looks of it on my wrist and the quality of materials and build. I'm definitely not a Panerai aficionado, but this watch oozes quality and style. The lume is fantastic (the best out of 3 reps I own), the crown, the pushers are smooth as silk ,actually better than on the gen I tried. The only downside is the quality of the calf strap I ordered, but maybe it's just me being spoiled by aligator and croc straps I usually wear.

  4. The rotary above is £69.99,it has a lifetime guarentee if serviced every 3 years they are fully waterproof to 30m and Rotary are swiss made watches and delivery is free. The company started in 1895. Why would you want to buy a watcheden replica at £10 cheaper that would leak water as no guarentee and if it did arrive DOA would cost you P&P to have it fixed. In my opinion the watch above would make a good beater and what a bargain. Also for the up market watch by Rotary, look at Dreyfuss & Co they are the same company.

Because the OP wants to change the dial. So no water resistance, no warranty, no nothing. In this case it's better to get a rep in the first place.

  5. Most normal people never ask. Most of the time people have no idea.

I've been asked twice so far.

Once in a Omega AD shop, when I walked in with my IWC rep, which lead to a great conversation with the shop owner who happens to be a rep collector as well

The other time was by a very annoying self proclaimed know-it-all fella in front of other people in a meeting, so I answered: "No, it's a figment of your deranged imagination". The people around us laughed and luckily it shut him up for the whole meeting, so we were able proceed without his usual constant blah-blah and smart-ass remarks.

  6. I sold my Speedmaster, so can't check. I probably didn't notice it if it's that small. I'll make sure to check next time I see a gen Omega.

Speedies should have them. First time I see it on Seamaster though. Thought it was a Speedster feature. When this practice has started?
