  1. Will that lume/varnish come off TJ? Are there the shapes of the markers underneath eg printed white circle that can be used as a guide? Did you use a tooth pick and magnifying lens? If it will come off then have a few practice runs because you will get there.
  2. It's an old myth about the movement in water. You would need to move your arm at about 32mph to add 1atm of pressure. If your watch tests out at 3atm you can swim in it. However if it says 3atm on the back then don't risk it as it may not be that water resistant and there is little margin for error.
  3. Was instantly obvious to me as I'm a lume-freak but do I like it? Yep - my second one is on its way. If you ever want to change the bezel insert do not under any circumstances try to remove the bezel even with a genuine tool. Would rather not say why As for timekeeping ... pretty much the same as the real thing. Just waiting for a testing machine to arrive and then I'll let you know how safe it is for swimming
  4. A few people asked about these so here's the link: http://www.googlestores.cn/Daytona-pushers-24-P302-0.html They were pretty damn perfect except under a magnifying glass where the finish wasn't as good as Rolex (to the naked eye it was). Cheap too.
  5. Phew, that's a relief, just checked his additional comments; the case isn't rusty! Is it forged Iron?
  6. Hello TeeJay, what's your 5517 case like? How close? Where did you get it? I'd quite like a 5517 Milsub Date if I can find a way to carve out a date window A buddy of mine has the real deal. It looks battered and always goes back in a 6ft high safe so I'm guessing rarely gets worn
  7. Don't know if you mean me but good to see a fellow UK member. Whereabouts are you?
  8. Thanks the crystal info Gavidoc. Truth is I have completely abandoned the Tudor mod idea. I've got a TC case on the way and am just going to build "something" with a 2824, spare tudor dial etc. I have a Snowflake dial that may come into the mix. Can you recommend a suitable rep Tudor case for the Superdome?
  9. Very few of you come across as civilised Woof. I was after a debate not insults. I'm always happy to change my mind and do the right thing. That's maybe why I'm worth millions. You were right about the watch. You just didn't articulate it very well Anyway I guess you're busy sniffing other boys bums with a name like woof but here's to our next debate
  10. Hey you can pull that off without even opening your mouth I'm guessing you can only spell words like that 'cause your mummy sews labels with it written on into all of your clothes?
  11. The Tudor is saved! Long live the Tudor! Will either put the old dial back in or just send to Rolex for their bargain basement
  12. Yep I think that's the way to go. Okay I'll put the original dial back in and hands, then see if I still want to mod it. If not it can go back in storage for another 10 years and I'll wear the Franken
  13. Looks great! That may have just convinced me to build my new Milsub from parts
  14. Doesn't bother me that I have the wrong dial in the 79190 either. The 79190 should say "Prince Date". Subtle change or what?
  15. Does it say "Prince Oysterdate"? It shouldn't if it is a 79190. Here's my lumed dial at night. The compound I used is far brighter than Luminova and lasts longer in my experience. Perhaps too bright
  16. I'm contemplating a U-Turn TeeJay in which case I will go the same route as you. Parts come up often enough. I'd just use a 2824. The strong feelings here have definitely given me second thoughts. There are less and less full sets available. Oh one last thing ... I forgot I'd swapped the dials about a year ago when I did the lume. Those who know their Tudors will know mine has the WRONG dial for a 79190 So, I must have wanted to conserve the original because my spare dial is the original, not this one. Must be a sign Now we can all sleep at night
  17. I have a 79090 retaining ring, tensioner etc. I have not taken the existing bezel off yet so I can't be sure it will fit. But unless they changed the actual case then it will. Fingers crossed.
  18. Hahaha ace TeeJay! But that means mine wont be the only one anymore Really happy to meet somebody that knows where I was headed with this. Maybe still am The Tudor Sub is such a perfect weight and size. So you have a 79190 too! I'll post some pics when I've loaded the new acrylic superdome and bezel. I think it will look amazing. Will you be going the fixed lug route? I have some genuine vintage Seamaster hands that I will most likely use in the final build for the sake of quality. Obviously genuine Superdome too.
  19. Fab and of course nobody notices it. I'd like to see his case hardening tech on other watches.
  20. PS The lume washes off. I don't want dead tritium. It looks the same except that it glows in the dark. Since you couldn't see it in the dark before then it can't look worse can it? You couldn't see it.
  21. No way, your 7 year old? Sneed? I didn't think you were out of nappies yourself mate. I'm not destroying it. Any fifth grader could explain to you the laws of physics but E= MC squared and energy can't be destroyed. Just changing form and it will no doubt change back. Now, bedtime story over, go and have a lie down eh?
  22. Birds of a feather TeeJay! Hey if we could get Damasko to ice harden our cases we would have the ultimate watch. Rolex really should buy the patent. I mean, they bought most of their others and this would mean that they would never scratch! PS Please show us some pics when it is done.
  23. Hahahah you too SgtGUK! Shame that more people didn't want to play
  24. Am bored of the game now. Answer was DC57 Damasko. Amazing thing. They have the patent on ice hardening watch cases. If it hits a brick wall then the wall just crumbles Definitely recommended x 1000,000.
