Thanks everyone! And a BIG thank you to LH who counseled throughout the DW Rollie journey. I asked so many annoying noob Q's and he was there to answer them. So thanks LHOOQ!!

Taka's xtal is sweet! very Gen-like. @krpster: thanks! yup its nice to be able to see the city...

I went into my straps box and found a random GEN IWC pilot leather strap. The only strap in my box that can fit this watch so it'll have to do. I have to admit the strap makes the watch 'bigger' on the wrist. The watch is small to begin with and the strap beefs it up a bit. Much better look in terms of size than the rep bracelet it came with.

This one came from a good friend from Oz. -gen dial, taka double AR xtal, lello dw

I know...I was in a daze when I was posting... It used to be a 002 w. closed caseback...but by the time I realized my error the post was already alive.. But indeed it is a 112E.

So this watch has been in my parts box for the last 1.5 years. Finally had some time to get it running again. I really feel that the base sausage dial was one of the best PAM rep dials ever made. This one has a great whitish lume job, PALP crown, old school engraved ETA 6497 mvmt with dagger/swan neck/etc.

So this one is from Paul. He did a great job in QC-ing the piece. I love wearing it. Its officially my dress watch!

Paul...Thank you for a great watch! Much appreciated in organizing this! It came today and I love it. QC was excellent! -
Manhattan in the background... Its good to be home for a bit before I ship off again...

thanks guys....you end up with a bunch of PAM reps in the beginning and then it begins whittling down... i'm really satisfied with the 5 PAMs I have. I just need to finish modding them when I have a chance. The ETA 2893 PAM 063C is the one I'm most excited to finish up.

I've been away from the forums for a while now...I think I have owned every major rep at one point or another....but I'm now down to these 4 PAMs. 1. ETA 7753 PAM 196: unmodded. I still have a chief's double AR xtal ready for swap (inaccurate for the model, but I love double AR). I need to have that installed. I also have a lello datewheel for ETA 7753 that needs to be installed. Besides that I'll do a relume. Look ma! No recessed datewheel! 2. ETA 2893 GMT PAM 063C: completely unmodded. Has the awesome ETA movement though. I have a double AR'd cyclops for it as well as a lello DW for a 2893 mvmt. 3. PAM 000 Logo: Has the old school sausage dial that they don't make anymore. The font print is much nicer than the current offerings and the Panerai logo is much better. Less bold, smaller, and pointing in the correct manner. This one has been relumed. What makes this watch though is a good crownguard. This one has a 'V' CG on it. I'm not really up to date on PAM parts, so I'm sure there are really nice CGs out there that have been made since 'V' put his out. 4. PAM 207A: Ahhhh...one of my favorites. The watch with Sylvester's signature on it. This one has a 'V' CG, Vac relume, DSN dial & hands, and all the other mods. I really enjoy wearing this one when I'm in the white/cream dial mood. I highly recommend building this watch. Its gorgeous when its finished and a joy to wear. 5. PAM 002: In my parts box since the crown fell out. But its a beauty. Got it from FGD and its fully modded. So when I get a chance I'll put the 063 & 196 together. Then again I've been saying that for the past 2 years. I need to get a better crown/CG for the 063 and then just ship everything to a modder. I just haven't had any time between my breaks during med school. I guess I'll have to wait until August to send these to Vac.

no breits for me at the moment Babs...well...for now i've decided to do: tcrown/lello dw/lume job on the 196 and 063.... need to find someone that does cyclops...

Pictorial Review: Nav B-Uhr II 44 mm Automatic Pilot Watch
dylan posted a topic in Other Brands Area
I'll get around to a full length review on affordable pilot watches...but for now let me show you some pics of 1. Steinhart/Debaufre unbranded 44mm Automatic Pilot Watch. There are only a handful of sources for affordable & quality pilot watches...This particular watch can be had for around $550 or less, depending if there is a sale. Why did I choose this particular one? Well...many of the traditional pilots are waaaayyyy too big for my wrist (since they were suppose to be worn over flight jackets)... I can't pull off a Fiddy...and no way can I pull off 48mm Pilots... I already have an IWC 3717 to satiate my 42mm desires...so I looked for something between there and the big sizes (48 - 52mm). Since I can pull off 44mm PAMS, it was natural for me to look for a 44mm version. Another requirement of mine was to have the center seconds....Since most of my watches are 6497 based, I already have the manual wound thing down...and really wanted a center seconds. You can get a manual wound center seconds...but that particular movement is very very expensive and takes the watch out of the 'affordable' category....So typically you have to settle for a watch made from ETA 2824 (affordable) Location: In the back of my building in Jersey City overlooking the Hudson River: Props used: Trash can for the off the wrist shots! Strap: Big Pilot style...custom made my Jacob (Spanish strap maker) -
So the fun of this hobby in my opinion is the modding process....It can be frustrating...time consuming...but in the end its a labor of love... Excuse the crap pics...they are taking indoors without a light box...need to build another one since the big move... Group pic: PAM 010D/114E,F First generation DSN 010D dial commissioned by Babola PAM 000 Out of production 000 dial w. thick crown & V's CG (makes a world of difference) PAM 5218/207A DSN dial/hands/crown V CG dial & hands relumed to match PAM 002D/112E Old school out of production base sausage dial/palp crown/ziggified lume Also has the old school engraved E/F/G series swanneck/dagger regulator movement PAM 063 ETA 2893 This is in parts at the moment...need to install chief's cyclop/T-crown/Lello dw/ lume job: I have all the parts...no time to get around to it PAM 196 ETA 7753 Also in parts...lello dw/T-crown/lume job Also have a double AR's xtal...not sure if I want to use it on the 063 or the 196. Help me out if you have an opinion.
