  1. Guys how do you polish the carbon case?

Bro frankly u dont need a polish, u might ruin it. I handled the gen a couple of times, and the carbon is similar to the reps. If u think its more polished, its the lighting. Under certain lighting the marble stands out. Dont ruin a perfectly nice watch ;) just some advice for u mate.

  2. +1

The double AR would ironically make it better than the gen one though

The gen AR is a nice and clear single side one. The only difference between the V3 and V4, in my opinion, are:

    a. crystal AR is improved (nothing that aftermarket AR cannot solve)

    b. cyclops double AR

    c. slightly better case finish (you can polish the V3 case yourself to make it as good or better)

You just need a quality low beat movement and this would be a watch that is almost 1:1...

And yes, to the OP, the FC version is more accurate than the stainless steel version, mainly because of the inner bezel.

Master Legend, you forgot to mention

    d. improvement in the minute hand lume color. V3 is greyish while V4 is closer to white, which is closer to gen.

P.S. Mr. A has the best version out there, you should share your watch by giving everyone a wristie ;)

  3. Since there doesn't seem to be any place on the forum where you can give another member well deserved accolades for doing something above and beyond the call of duty, I'm posting this here. This is about Legend, a great member here.

I sent a broken watch to Legend, actually bought from another member, however it arrived DOA, and after repeated attempts to get it repaired, I decided to sell it for parts. Legend thought it was too nice to give up on, and It needed another chance. He offered to get Spinmaster to take a look at it Legend personally took it to Spinmaster and dropped it off. Long story short, some things that a noted watch repair person had said were done and parts replaced, were not. Spin got it working fine, and really was very reasonable with the charges. Legend picked it up, wrapped it and posted it back to me. The watch was a long time getting back here, and Legend was with me every step of the way including initiating a trace with Singapore Post. the watch finally got here and is running fine. I just want to say that Legend is a true friend, and he is the sort of person that will definitely go the extra mile to make sure everything is right. I cannot put in words how grateful I am to him for taking his time to get it delivered to Spin, pick it up and post it back to me. I sincerely hope that one day I can repay the favor.

Oh my lord.. I finally have someone feel the same way about Mr.A as I do.

A true friend and a true asset.

Assets includes but not limited to:

    1. Maserati, McLaren, Lexus, Porsche GT3

    2. Crap load of crazy gen watches

Last but not least, a humble, sincere and an amazing character.

P.S Can this be put as a sticky as a role model for other members?    :notworthy:

  4. I would suspect this is going to be pretty costly. unless you can have one made in S/S. Any of the gold ones are going to be pretty expensive, as it looks pretty massive and a fair amount of gold will be used in each ring. I know that people have been clamoring for a price, not sure he has gotten to the point of pricing it. First off, I'm sure that the price point is going to be pretty high, can't afford to stock these, because of the different sizes. These are not rings that look like you can have them resized should it not fit, would need to go up or down with a completely different ring.

As  I said before, I'm not a ring person, so absolutely no interest in this project except to say it is very nice work, and a lot of persistence o n the OP's part, plus a pile of money!!

Completely agree with you mate. The S/S or Titanium Version itself would already be costly, not to mention Gold. I've contacted friends that owns relatively large jewelry shops, and I'd have to say this is not an easy piece to make. Not every jeweler is able to replicate this and the molding is extremely labor intensive and costly, which is why an SS version is not made. The time and effort required to make a piece like this is too much relative to the price it would be valued at if it was SS or Titanium.

    Very nice Project OP, congratz.

  5. This is Uber-Franken mate. Congratulations!!

This is the best DSSD franken that I know off on 3 major rep forums.

Just mind blasting and jaw breaking!!

P.S. Move that bloody AP out of the way. This Rolex is on a different league XD

  6. I am finally able to be able to comment, after learning a bit from my friend @folex.

Rep, looking at the pearl and insert

Im on ur side buddy :) you learn quickly, genius bro.

Gen AR is colorless. Look at the cyclops. It isnt colorless.

  7. You've gotten the currency wrong like what Toro mentioned. The watch was posted at about USD29k. The pic is that of a gen watch.

Still, I would not buy it off taobao. Taobao is ok for stuff like casual clothes and fashion accessories but not a sub $30k watch IMHO

    I would trust Mr.A :D

  8. If your living in that kinda area, a watch hobby isnt the best option for you. Had a friend targeted and robbed of his gen watches in his own apartment. He was kinda big, so he went after them. They shot him, luckily in the arm.

Well, lesson learned. Carrying firearm, learning martial arts or getting big only increases risk in this case. Just dont wear a rollie..

or if they give u that weird stare, just shout at them, "its a replica!!" Haha

  9. This movement is now updated with bigger jewels in the gear train bridge and a square regulator arm.

Looks and functions 99% like the real deal.

Are you going to make another review? XD

On a separate note, doesnt the gen move every hour when changing the hour hand. I mean almost like a click each time u change the hour. Are you saying the rep does this too?

    Do let us know.

Emm, easily? Well you gotta source it first. There are other issues. Notice how the CG have not been updated to the latest version. Thats my main concern as well.

  11. Someone recently did a similar thread for watch brands-car brands association.

I would like to get the opinion of everyone regarding what wearer traits you associate the various watch brands with?

I think this would differ from culture to culture, or from country to country.

Personally, I find Rolex wearers to be a more conservative bunch, more matured in disposition, and relatively more down to earth compared with wearers of other luxury brands like AP.

I generally consider AP wearers to be more "showy", living it up in general, and having louder tastes in life. Very similar to wearers of Hublot.

My dad has been wearing a Patek Philippe since I was young, so I associate the brand with the distinguished gentleman who is successful, somber, and likes to whoop my butt for the slightest mistakes. Ok that last bit was a tad too personal but you get my drift.

    Let the list roll gentlemen.

Agreed. But to add on, Rolex wearers are usually very cheap-asses, arguably many get rolexes as it has one of the best resale value. So you don't feel like you're just wasting and throwing money into someone else's bucket. I know a close buddy who earns $50,000 nett a month and only spends $500, and ofc he wears a rolex ;)

  12. I understand, Hugo.

Just invite me for the next yacht party.. ;)

    Alright Fine!

But wear the right dress code next time!

Solid Gold watches with Flawless 5 Carats GIA Certified Diamonds only!! Read the invitation!

And don't get airdropped on my yacht, you're not Batman! There's a reason why my helicopters are picking you up!

  13. Haha, you mean "that was the day"... now thanks for being so modest, its refreshing to see such modesty in this thread, where everyone is talking about corvettes, and Lamborghini, and being millionaires at age 20 etc. I remember that dinner very well mate. It helps that we were at the same table, and it helps that I was actually the one who invited you for dinner.

You were dressed in a neatly pressed, high end branded polo T shirt, "The color of christmas", and on your wrist sat a watch that I would have identified the brand straightaway had not the prodigious amount of bling got in the way of my sight. Your platinum chain dangled from your neck, and you humbly apologised each time it clanged against the table distractedly, waving a hand decked with rings which were in turn decked with bling. Half the patrons at the restaurant went blind that night, as they were wondering why it got more and more difficult to see their Tomyam soup. I struggled that night to spot something that was not expensive on you that night, and I learnt that pure gold iphone cases were not just urban myths. I also learnt that there were such things as wallets made by stapling 120 genuine US$100 bills together, inside which sat several more bills of the same denomination, derisively termed as "small change" by you.

It was then that you told me about your private jet, the one which you flew to Singapore in, and despite my most polite deferments, you kept going on and on about your genuine Rolex collection, and how you considered the $6000 submariner to be a "miniaturized version" of the real Rolexes. I am glad you did not make that statement here, or you would have offended guys who actually owned $6000 submariners. I asked you where your humility have gone, and you told me "to the same place that your humor has".

I was also sorry I did not accept your gift of two bunnies hung from a raffle string that night, along with the recipe of "special bunny pie". It might have helped if the bunnies were already cooked and packed, instead of alive and still trying heroically to break free.

I did not quite understand the fanfare and red carpet that rolled out when we stood up to leave mate. It was the first time I have seen an actual red carpet, flanked by six bugle boys saying something that contained the word "diamond prince". The actual words were lost in the cacophony.

So yes, what I wanted to say, is that I know you are modest. There is no need to downplay yourself too much here bro. :D

    Hahahaha!

The polo was "Hugo's My Boss" mate not Hugo Boss. And that chain... Lets not start it mate. My boss treats us like slaves, literally, you know he has this fetish for these kind things. And those rings were tracking devices, just in case any of us were to attempt to escape.  :cc_hang:

I was gonna ramble on but I think I'd just admit defeat. I've been trolled to death. Imma hang myself now.

Id see you in the next life mate. :wallbash:

  14. So I reckon you're not going to say anything about your private jet, the nice Rolex collection, and the playboy bunnies you partied out at sea with last week?

Well then, I guess we won't know anything about those then will we?

Hahaha.. Im just a peasant. But id tell you about my 20cm toy private jet, gen Casio and pet rabbit i had at home, Which i eventually made into a sate when i was hungry.

Apologies for those who love bunnies, not being ethnocentric but in Indonesia we eat bunnies.

I wish life was easier, i remembered those happy days when i was being treated by a generous friend whom i shall not mention. We had an abundance of food, to the extent it was overflowing. That Tom yam soup with deep fried curry softshell crab at ion... Those were the days ;)

  15. @kingfrog

I completely disagree with your statement of a $500 rolex being almost equivalent to a gen sub. From the way you describe it, i would have to assume you never owned a gen sub. Movement does not lie mate, and so does the whole build. If you are at all into watches you know that the finishing and the minute details is what makes it so valuable.

Its like saying i can run 100m in 11seconds and bolt could do it in less than 9.

Meh, its the same thing, im as good as the fastest runner in the world.

Your ignorance prove that you do not seem to understand the significance in small details, or even in significant craftsmanship.

Apologies for dictating an old man, i hope God forgive me for my sins, but your perspective and behavior is slightly off mate;)
