Can we direct the thread back to the watch details - make a new one about marketing ploys and pricing structures ... I like many others am in this thread purely to follow the progress of the Cousteau.

Although Josh and Andrew are no doubtedly involved with the watch too - Angus gets my vote as he has been involved in keeping us all updated. Cant wait - fingers crossed its under $300 for non swiss!

As mentioned the rubber looks pretty cheap - not confident that it is the same type of rubber since the Gen doesnt have any dust and crap stickign to it like the rep. Also the edges of the rubber are not finished well. The wood does look like that cheap plastic laminate you get on old school tables lol Something about the font doesnt look quite right? nto same size or maybe its the diff focus of the camera But overall still looks pretty good

If its pure rubber then dust and crap wont stick to it .. its the rubber mix that will have dust etc stick to it ... i wasnt a fan of rubber but this one is an exception - also its heaps comfy compared to SS

There are plenty of other dealers but none of them offer the new 42mm pilot watch!!! Anyone know if EL's version comes in black leather croc instead of the SS bracelet?

Meh I wouldnt care as much about the case back i.e. I dont care if they age the wood or just stain some pine... 99.5% of the time people are looking at the what as its on your wrist therefore the case back wont be visible.

I dont think the strap should be made bigger or smaller - the point of being a rep is to replicate the gen - i want it 1:! to the gen size strap! a 44mm watch wont have really small strap anyhow!

In Australia the only items I have heard being confiscated is if you bring in a large amount or if you are selling fake goods. If you bring one or two for yourself they dun care.. they have bigger fish to fry.

I was under the impression that the hands and date was only an issue on the SS. If you get the Chrono you wont have a date issue. Downside is there are reports that the modified 7750 has died easily on the chrono. Havent heard anything about a non chrono. Also - some people have been getting SS crown rather than a titanium one.

Fair enough - I guess if there was a 1:1 copy then a real one wouldnt be as special i.e. Rolex sub - i bet there are more fakes than real ones! Id love a cousteau gen if I could afford haha

Thats a weird comment. If you can truely afford the gen then go buy it and post some pics.

Whats most important to me is 1:1 rep 2nd most important is cost - I dont wanna spend $600 USD on a rep (I know the gen of this watch is worth liek 10-15k but still I am more willing to part with $200-250 than 600)

Why make a post like this if you dont even know if customs has seized it yet? wait and see - if its already ordered and shipped then there is little you can do.

Just read The Zigmeister's reviews and keen to know how I can identify which watches by Josh or Andrew use the Davidsen Chinese 6497-1 Movement? All i find is a standard "Asian 6497" description. Any help would be great Cheers, Rob

I use the seconds hand as a "random number generator" when playing poker For example - if I want to randomise I play style for example - raise 75% of the time and call 25% of the time. Then I would call when the second hand is between 1 and 15 and raise the rest of the time.
