That looks like an ETA to me, the Sellita is marked at "SW200" there is no 2824 or whatever. DM is correct for an ETA, it stands for "Date" "Manufacture". There should be the ETA logo stamped under the balance to the right of the DM. RG

The only reason for an upgrade is if you want to see the information in the RWiki section. You don't need to upgrade to get in contact with, or use my services. I am however on a break from PM's until in April, please see this post: My PM shut down for a few weeks, reason When my PM is open again, I'll post a message stating so. I can help you with the A7750 servicing if you need my help. RG

Chieftang AR Jan Crystals all installed.
RWG Technical replied to RWG Technical's topic in General Discussion
Please see this post: My PM is shut down, here's the reason... Thank you. RG -
All the Chieftang crystals from the latest run have been installed in the watches. I expect them to go out early next week, you will receive an email with your tracking number (if applicable). Please do NOT send any emails asking for when your watch will be shipped, see above. Sorry I don't have any time for pics, have been away for work all last week, have a lot of catching up to do. Thanks. RG

I am so sorry to hear about this Rob. You are in my thoughts, and you will get past this and things will get better. We have a great community here willing to help out. Keep the faith. RG

These are your words about us (RWG) as quoted from RWI in this post (http://www.replica-watch.info/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=37571&p=324796#p324796) Dave123 Quote: Can't help but wonder why your here...after reading your comments and opinion of the members of RWG and myself. Care to enlighten us whinners (especially me)?

How to remove strap on Cousteau and Slevin (help needed)
RWG Technical replied to TK471's topic in The IWC Area
Don't own one, and sitting in a hotel right now, so I can't look at one either. From memory isn't there a pin sticking out from the lugs, and it just has to be pressed out of place to get the strap off? I could be wrong... RG -
Those of you with a large collection...
RWG Technical replied to DemonSlayer's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Yes, just send me a pm when your ready. @ scoobs I don't even offer servicing for the 21J Asian auto's, it's cheaper and better to simply swap the movement with a Miyota 8215...and the Miyota is a great movement. Servicing is simply the cost of owning a mechanical movement, unlike quartz that has no tension from a mainspring, a mechanical movement needs regular attention if it's expected to keep working. At least we have 5-7 years with today's oils, 40 years ago you were expected to have your watch serviced every year... RG -

RWG Technical replied to DemonSlayer's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Wearing the watch or not wearing the watch, having it on a winder, or not, the oil has a life of about 5-7 years, and then it's gone, dried up, or just turned into thick gunk. A good solution if you have the time and skill, is to take the Time Zone Watchmaking course, it will allow you to service a handwind up to a 2836 type of movement... Or run them till they die, or schedule them for servicing over time like you would a car for oil changes and regular maintenance... RG -
Visor Magnifier Instead Of Loupe?
RWG Technical replied to HauteHippie's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I can't get a visor to work for me... I bought a Bergeon Ary Eyeglass loupe for my reading glasses, and it's amazing and the best loupe I have used. Much better than the stand alone one, but expensive at about $80. I work at 4X which is about 2.5" distance, a visor won't focus that close for me, so it's not usable for what I do. RG -

Taking someone's pictures without permission.
RWG Technical replied to RWG Technical's topic in The looney bin
I agree with both points. My first thoughts were NOT "He stole my pictures..." My first thought was "Is he trying to pass this off as his own work, in order to solicit lume business from forum members...". I got upset because we have seen so much bad stuff concerning modder's in the past couple of years, that I was concerned that this was another way to fool the members: solicit business for lume work, by showing someone else's work as your own. My better half already did... She told me to put away my pride, and I got to watch the first installment of the Oprah book club program on Eckhart Tolle "Awakening to your life's purpose". Actually, it was very interesting and I am looking forward to this weeks episode. RG -

Well I have calmed down. To clairify, the FM does not belong to H_U, so I don't understand why he posted it. I do understand why he may not have used my name on RWI, not with members like watchbuff, klink, and hk45ca being there. He could have asked me before he posted them, and all he had to do was to say that it wasn't his watch, nor did he do the lume, just that he wanted to know what others thought of this particular lume job... In any case, watermarks on my pictures from now on. Downloading pics for your own personal use is one thing, posting them on a forum - when they aren't yours, without the originators knowledge - to me, is not good manners. RG -

Well you know how it is..."I went to the fights, and a hockey game broke out..." J and I are doing great, I hope all is well on your end also. @l-dizzel and owdeguy Taking my pictures and saving them to your own photobucket album, is very fishy to me. I still can't understand why they kept their size, I always thought you could only save them as thumbnails...time to come up with a watermark from now on, another step neede to protect my stuff...frustrating... RWG Technical replied to RWG Technical's topic in The looney bin
Maybe so, but what I don't understand is why he would actually take my pictures and save them as his own on his photobucket album. I guess I have to come up with a way to watermark all my pics from now on... RG -

RWG Technical replied to RWG Technical's topic in The looney bin
Well maybe it's my french brain...but why did he steal my pics, post them in his own photobucket album, not mention anywhere that these belonged to anyone but him. I'll tell you, with all the scamming and ways members are willing to defraud other members out of their money, this is just the thing I need to call it quits all together. Here I though I was doing something to add to the forum, only to find out someone is willing to take what isn't theirs, and pass it off as their own. I still don't get how he stole the pics and maintained the same resolution as I had, I didn't think you could do that with photobucket... This really upsets me, it really does. RG -
I don't get [censored] off very often, did anyone else see this on RWI? Member Horolgy_Unitas stole my pictures of the FM lume I did up this week, and it looks as if he posted them as his own? He never gave me credit, and don't know why he would actually take the pictures and move them to his own photobucket album, and when members commented on what a nice job "he did", he never corrected them and said that someone else did the work, or that the watch was not actually his own. I can understand not wanting to use my name on RWI (persona non-gratis to some over there) but if he wanted to do this, all he would have had to do, was to ask me, and not use my pics and save them in his photobucket album without my permission. Intentional or not, it doesn't look good to me. Omission can be dishonest as well. http://www.replica-watch.info/phpBB3/viewt...f=1&t=37571 RG

Old rep collectors don't die - they just fade away
RWG Technical replied to davewe's topic in General Discussion
Great post. You covered all the bases from what I can see. As Kruz stated, I do hope you continue to hang around on the forum. RG -
I have never been good at this...I think the hands are real, and the dial, as for the case etc...not sure. In any case, they both look great, wear them well. RG

Neil, I am sorry to hear about this health concern. I hope you get well soon. All the best. RG

RWG Welcomes a New Collector - EuroTimez

Welcome on board, good luck with your set up, sounds very positive. RG -
This was sent in for upgrades. It has been in the hands of as real watchmaker (as far as I know) and here's what I noted and saw as I took it apart. This was NOT worked on by ANYONE from RWG, this was done by someone outside of this forum. I just want to share with you what some people are willing to send out to their customers. The first thing I notice, is that a genuine crown had been installed, but when I try to open the CG lever, I just about rip my nail off my finger - it's that tight. I also notice that the crown has been installed too far from the case. The fix for both of these problems is simple, cut down the outside of the case tube a bit more, which would move the crown closer to the case where it should be, and if you did this, it would also make the CG lever less tight... a win win situation either way. Look at the crown placement. Even worse, look at the damage done to the Genuine crown. The lever was so tight it dented the crown. I noticed that there was quite a bit of dirt on the dial side, and what looked like metal shavings. Took the caseback off, and there were 2 different case clamps and 2 different screws (they should be the same). Is this too small a detail to worry about? Maybe, but it shows a lack of attention to detail, and isn't professional. Imagine my surprise when I look at the movement under the loupe, checking for cleanliness and correct oiling, not good so far... Let me add that a watch bought from a dealer, would not look like this, it would be clean (I am referring to offshore dealers only, Josh, Andrew, TTK, Narikaa etc). The escape wheel and pallets are the most critical part of the movement, this isn't looking good at all... So I go ahead and take the movement out of the case, and what do I find? Have a look (keep in mind that the tube was drilled for the genuine crown) What ever happened to common sense and pride in workmanship...if you drill something, there are metal fillings produced - clean them off. Leaving a mess like this, as well as the rest of the damage, shows a total lack of professionalizm and not caring about your work. At least there is a solution to all of this, I am going to service the movement, clean up the case, file the outside of the tube down so the crown seats where it should and opening the lever doesn't cause a torn off nail, and a trip to the ER. Just a teaser of what's to come, what do you make of the dial??? As you can see, I have to install H3 cannon and hour wheels to get the hands above the dial, and it should look nice when it's finished... The reson for the post is simply to share with you what some people are willing to send out of their shop. I don't think anyone wants to get a watch back in this condition, I know I don't. Caveat emptor. RG
