The saga ends... its all done - Submariner 16610

I know was a lonnnnnng time coming! Hows your project going? -
Thats a long list for a $49 rep bracelet, for that money wear and enjoy! I can see where youre coming from though, I actually thought the TC was decent quality and shape. In saying that... On the TC I had, the screw holding the clasp to the bracelet refused to come out, then when it did it wouldnt go back in!

Thanks Yeah was a journey! Awesome to have the ability to know how it all goes together and that I sourced everything myself -
Hey guys, My 16610 Sub is all done Parts list: - Sean 16610 case - Genuine MK3 "Swiss made" Z Serial dial - Genuine hands - Genuine Rolex 3135 - Genuine crown - Genuine AR crystal - Genuine bezel - Genuine bezel insert - Genuine 93250 bracelet - Genuine spring bars - Genuine 93250 clasp Lessons learnt: - Always try to buy a genuine bezel assembly as a SET! I went through 2 bezels until I got a setup that worked - I tried to use a genuine tube and failed, it doesnt fit without work. I needed to tap the case... Even after that the case needed to be countersunk its difficult and time consuming. The tube the Sean comes with fits a genuine crown, save your time! Other than that its been... well fun to a point then it got annoying, now im happy with it. Thanks to all who helped out and gave advice, you know who you are Pics!! Thats not my wrist BTW! haha Cheers!!

Yep I went all gen ill put some pics up soon. When l had it assembled I think the watch Smith used the Sean gasket rather than the gen one I wasn't sure. I thought the crystal sat slightly low but if it's gen size then it's right. There is a lip so I think it's all good. Youre right the Sean crystal lip is too big.

Thanks guys

Hey all Quick question, what height is a Sean 16610 sub crystal gasket? What is it compared to gen? Thanks! Dan
-
Damn I've never heard of a 704?? Mark Greenberg sold me that crown grrr same guy that sold me the bezek that didn't fit
-
Interesting my gen tube didnt fit I had to tap the case
-
Could it be a rep crown??
-
Yeah its driving me crazy there are so many myths about the Sean case it doesnt fit a genuine tube without modification. It needs to be tapped and countersunk. I did have the Sean tube at the start with a gen crown but the gen crown didnt fit for me So now the question is either: 1. Start again - tap a new case and countersink a new genuine tube 2. Countersink this case and JB weld in a new genuine tube I managed to get most of the remaining parts of the broken tube out but the threads are destroyed Im leaning towards starting again and doing it properly so I dont run into problems in the future Ideas?

BUMP Anyone? The Sean case doesnt fit a genuine tube correctly! I tried screwing it in a tiny bit more and it broke off... Im going to have to marine epoxy a Noob tube that RSH sent me, anyone have an experience in that?
-
Not a rolex expert by any means however why would the marker cover the SWISS T<25? Also Should the crown be directly abouve the L in ROLEX?
-
Here is the crown still doesnt sit flush, the guy who pressed the crystal said it was aftermarket?? Could the stem be too long as it was a new stem??
-
Okay so changed the crystal retainer bezel still doesn't fit grrrr! Changed the tube and the crown still doesn't sit flush! Both the crown and bezel came from the same buyer... Something is not right

Gen hands for Submariner 16610 with an ETA 2824
dan_189 replied to watchfreund's topic in The Rolex Area
An ETA will not fit a genuine dial as well. -
Sean is on the left BTW
-
Sean and gen I think its the variations in the years and hence mine looked different to the one he had as mines newer
-
Ill put up some pics of them side by side, the main difference between this "gen" one and the Sean is that the Sean is slightly thicker and its not polished underneath like this one is. The bottom lip is actually polished and reflective/chrome where as the sean on that lip is dull. The other difference is the inner teeth on this bezel are quite a consistent shape where as the Sean are quite varied and not as good quality. Does it look like a WM9?? What size is a WM9?

-
Nothing, other than the case is aftermarket and the bezel wouldn't turn with the crystal retainer I had.
-
Thanks guys as for the bezel I took it to somewhere to have a new crystal retainer put on and immeaditly the guys was like you have an aftermarket bezel! Grrrr ill put up some pics to see what you guys think
-
I was actually able to use the O ring between the case and the tube so I used all 4 gen O rings, one between the case and tube, one on the outside of the tube and two internally I dont think im gong to take it near water
-
Thanks guys ill keep you posted

@firansky did you tap the case for the gen tube to fit?
