  1. Great to hear. I actually bought this one for my wife originally. She loved it but never wore it because she couldn't get around the whole winding thing...and having to set it and screw the crown in...a bit too busy for her. Then I bought some extra links and threw it on my wrist!!! :thumbsupsmileyanim: But then something else caught me eye so it was off to Stephane where he will care for her. That dial is stunning...hard to capture in pics but when the sunlight hits it, it sparkles!! It's nice to see it on a wrist again! Cheers!!

Well, tonight I can say that it is more than probably be on wrist again as my lover says "it's too heavy" :black_eye: :black_eye: :black_eye:

Thanks again Bruce for the fantastic deal.

    When I have a chance I'll make a pictorial.

  2. Good trade Stephane! I am with you.....not a huge fan of TT myself. Great pics though and thanks for sharing!

    Thanks for the nice words!

Stephane I never tire of looking at your watches. I like stainless as well but I do like the two tone sub with the blue dial. Have you ever considered one of those?

Well, not yet. I think gold isn't my thing and to be honest, blue dial neither :wounded1:

Very nice Stephane! One gen traded for another, can't go wrong with that!Cheers,JJ

That indeed the way I'm going these days: not spending a dime more, only trading and selling :whistling:

    Explorer II: :thumbsupsmileyanim:

And white dial/tritium ...serviced... I hope I'll like it for a while :o

  3. The Rolex DateJust 16013 from 1981.

    Dear All,

This is my first two tone watch.

I have never been a fan of yellow gold, but I was looking for one as a dress watch.

When I received it, I have been wearing it for a week non-stop.

    The complete set!

A great find again from my buddy at subgmt.com

My only other watch which has such a complete set is my 16610.

    Conclusion

I’m too young to wear this kind of watch in my opinion.

I should have to wait for another 15 years to match it.

I like it very much, but as usual, I can’t keep a watch in a box and never wear it.

So, it is now traded for a tritium explorer II from 1995!

    Thanks for looking and reading.

    Cheers

  4. Congrats, Stephane!!!! :thumbsupsmileyanim: Sounds like a Match Made-in-Heaven!!!!Here's to both your good health and lasting relationship :drinks::drinks::drinks: !Hike

    Thank you so much Hike.

I must say I'm in heaven, as simple as that :D

Now that is good news Stephane, and having met the person in the wrist shot, i know how wonderful that feels for you and how tastefully elegant it looks!

Oh yes, wonderfull and elegant she is. If on top of that we start to share the watches ...then we are a compleet couple :1a:

A superb looking DJ. I have to admit that I am not a DJ fan, but that dial is superb. You may have hooked me with this!

    Thank you Slarti.

Well, I know it will sound a bit exagerated, but I would say that this DJ is my favourite watch of all the ones I've owned so far.

Try to buy a replication first (if it exist with that dial)...you will probably agree with me!

  5. NICE DIAL!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

And super nice deal aswell Andy!

Ok, I made a couple of pictures from the watch for this week-end wrist check.

    But guess what?

    RolexDateJust16220_2002_800_001.jpg

I've been dreaming of seing my wife wearing my watches...it never happened.

We're separated now for over 2 years and since last april I have a new lover :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Of course I proposed to my princess to wear my watches ...but, allthough she likes some of them, she said "it's to heavy" :black_eye:

This DateJust has a fantastic dial indeed and, as the princess can see and appreciate these kind of "details", I showed him the new baby and she immediately noticed the dial and liked it a lot. :victory:

So I sized the bracelet, put the watch on her wrist and told her she will love it and get used to the weight.

SHE WEARS IT !!!! Yippeee... :clapping:

    RolexDateJust16220_2002_800_003.jpg

    Icing on the cake:

She's a scuba diver, and she accept to wear my Submariner next thursday for a training session!

Oh by the way, the members of her diving club are all wanting to get a Sub or a SD...allthough they all have a "computer watch on their wrist" :D

    Life is good, isn't it?

    :drinks:

    Have a fantastic week-end,

    Stephane

  6. Hey guys, it's cool to see all these beauties.

I'm surprised to see so many of them.

It means I'm not totaly insane wearing a 36MM or a 37MM (DJ or future JLC). :Jumpy:

In the end, it's only few MM less than a sub and a regular Pam, isn't it. :bleh:

These classic watches, or "normal" sizes, will last forever where the 45MM or even more will not survive that long in my opinion. =@

I'll do my best to post some DJ threads in the near future, it's a matter of time though, as my life is quite busy at the moment.

In the meantime, here some pics of that incredible 16013 full set to keep the thread alive :D

  7. I've come a long way in 13 years. Who says reps don't lead to gens?

Well, this statement deserve a full thread on its own <_<

    You are sooo right.

So is Ubi saying "Quality over quantity".

Every member of this community would love to own the gen counterpart of their rep if they could.

It's only a matter of timing and available budget.

The oldest among us may afford some gens now, the youngest will have to wait a bit...but they will get a couple for sure.

This passion is too strong to be satisfied with replications only.

Well, that is my opinion but I might be wrong :pardon:

  8. For sure, I'm not a vet of the boards ;)

Actually I started to browse the net for rep watches in 2006 and ordered my first good one from Andrew (Trusty).

Before that I was buying reps from the bay...bad bad idea :(

Then I came accros this place and registered a few months later and was hooked for months.

I think I bought and sold around 100 watches since then, made some great projects too.

I was speaking with Jojo recently and we came to the conclusion that gens were the ones we wanted now.

So, I’m here and will remain here mainly for the friends I made.

I can’t name them, they are numerous now.

And I will hopefully meet more new friends in the future.

    Hobby wise?

I don't think I would buy more "out of the box" reps, at least not to keep them.

Maybe to try them before saving for their gen sisters.

    Projects:

I’m redoing my great white currently with Tribal.

Maybe I’ll go till the end this time and add a gen mvt, who knows.

What is sure, is that I learned to be patient, very patient…and I will not enter several projects at the same time anymore. Rather finish one “perfect” watch ;)

In conclusion, this place rocks, and not only because it prevent every member to be scammed, also because it’s a fantastic opportunity to share friendship.

Edit: I'm a vet ! I bought my first rep in Bangkok back in july 1989 :victory:

  9. JLC? Damn you gotta make some serious green. If I had the money to buy a dress watch from those real top brands I'd go for Breguet.JLC, VC and Patek are amazing but for me Breguet is the King of all wristwatches. They made the watches for Marie Antoinette and Napoleon. But then again an average guy like me can only dream of those... :)

Oh, come on...I do not make serious green BT unfortunately :cry2: .

I'm currently negociating to get one for less than 2.5

  10. cool watch Stephane - huge congrats !!!Saudi Arabia ! :good:

Thanks Frank. A good find indeed from my usual dealer...Ah, those dutchmen :thumbsupsmileyanim:

@Stephane: Do you have two DJ's now? I recall you bought a steel version just recently.Man... Rolex owns your soul man... but I love it. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Yes By-Tor, I have two and a third one is on its way.

    I couldn't resist :black_eye:

As a matter of fact, as my Princess doesn't like to see wear yellow gold, I guess it's not going to stay at my home very long.

    I may trade it soon...

I really neeeeeeed a dress watch, so a JLC Master Control (the old one, not the 40MM) is my new goal (untill my next goal... ;) )
