At work I have a mailbox (along with other employees). I've ordered several watches from dealers here in the past and shipped them to my place of business. I thought the other day what the consequence would be if customs found out and sent a letter to my mailbox... Would I get fired? Would my work even know about it? Would they tell my place of business? Am I safe just shipping these things to my house?

Falco, its definately looking good here... a hell of a lot of people want in on this including me.... How would you go about modding this watch if this all goes through? Only work with the case, and start from scratch? You gonna put your own ETA movement in there? What are you guys thinkin of doing if this all goes through? What exact model sub are you tryin to make this look like?
-
I would definately be in for this one as well

Very nice... I espicially like the Omega one: "James Bond's Second Choice"... So true

On that note for us Americans: Title 14, Section 1211 of the Code of Federal Regulations, implemented on July 16, 1969, make it illegal for U.S. citizens to have any contact with extraterrestrials or their vehicles. Source: ET Law

Yeah, that would definately be a great project id like to start

Singer is the company that makes the dial. We care about the back of the dial because it is a tell tale sign of whether or not its a replica/aftermarket item or a genuine dial.
-
Thats exactly what I thought the singer dial looks like. The small etching is different from the ones hes offering. The font looks completely different... hard to say though
-
It looks like this guy may be selling MBW rolex dials... Heres an example: http://cgi.ebay.com/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem...em=170070941657 Notice the size of the singer logo... With all of the auctions he has, the singer logo is in the same location and the same size. Are these authentic dials? I know it says "Condition Professionally Refinished" But that only means the front of the dials. He never said aftermarket so we must assume that hes trying to sell these off as authentic. Am I wrong, or are these reps?

I'm having difficulty finding out which model submariner Ian Fleming's James Bond wore in his movies... Source Whats your opinion on this.... Which model submariner do you consider bonds ultimate? I'm just trying to find an accurate MBW to work with in the future, so I'd like an idea of what you people think so I can do some additional research.

Looks like you bought a rep. But at least you dont have to worry about customs? (Assuming its in the same country).

Very nice looking watch. I myself am going to get an MBW but have zero modding experience. I'll probably send it to Joe like you did... Just gotta find out which rolex im going to take on, and your pics help in making this decision ;-) Looks great

Yes, she'll be a great collector some day.... as they always say start em early -
When it says "City of Shanghai Despatch from Sorting Center", It could already be in the us. From now on, I would check usps' tracking tools, chances are its going through customs

I have one noobmariner and I still cant get the bezel off to this day... I tried slipping everything under it including a razorblade. I fear that if pull up any harder I may wind up with a missing finger or a split bezel
-
nice mag on that... what is it, 0x?
-
very nice job... the gen crystal does it well..... What rolex history book is that in the background, and is it any good?
-
To my knowledge there are two books out there that serve as great reference guides for rolex history and mechanics: Vintage Rolex® Sports Models: A Complete Visual Reference and Unauthorized History and Rolex Wristwatches: An Unauthorized History Anyone had the opportunity to read any of those? I want to get one of them for modding purposes (and use it as a reference when i buy gen parts off ebay for the sub).

I agree with 28277. I use gmail as well and receive at least 25 spam emails a day. Those are automatically sent to the spam folder where I don't have to deal with it. My ISP also offers an antispam service and blocks spam emails before they even hit my box. Contact your ISP first to see whether there is something they can do about spam before you do anything on your side.

It would probably be wiser to invest in a modern MBW because it is easier to find gen parts for modern subs? I can't see being able to find a dial for a red sub or the old bracelet for one on ebay anytime soon... You guys think modern is the way to go? I just worry about getting the MBW and not being able to find any parts
-
Since you said you already have the exact model as a gen, id personally stick with the lower model. Key differences as you said includes an overhauled movement. If your gonna be banging it up a lot why spend a lot a money, espically if you have a gen of it already. If your going to really spend a lot of money on a rep like that, go for an MBW and start modding it up. It would look exactly (gen parts) like your other one and you wont feel that bad when you damage it one way or another. Worse comes to worse, buy a couple of the cheap ones if your gonna be "destroying" watches during the work week
