So I have purchased a gen ETA 7750 movement for my IWC 3717. Unfortunately, as I have later found out, the seconds hand set does not fit. I was wondering if someone knows where I can get a seconds hand (or a complete set as a last resort) of the IWC 3717 to fit the gen ETA 7750 movement. Or how to modify the seconds hand that came with the watch to fit the new movement.... I tried messaging a few people but haven't gotten a definite response, and I am stuck without my watch! (By the way, if anyone wants a spare 7750 Asian movement for cheap, let me know.) Thanks!

Hi all, I am looking to purchase a gen ETA 7750 movement in EU, to transplant into my IWC 3717. The watch was purchased from PT (UK) last fall. Do you guys know if it will fit? I thought about the ebay, but would be worried I am stuck with another Asian 7750 with all its problems and worries. I have a good watchsmith to do the transplant, I just have to get the movement. Hi RobbieG, Like many others here, I haven't had the chance to interact with you previously. However, it seems there is something that brings us all together when a fellow human being is going through so much health difficulties and pain. Health is a funny thing. We take it for granted when we have it, not paying attention to it (even doing things to destroy it, like smoking). And then when we don't have it any more, we would do anything to get our health back, even give up on our "most treasured" toys, like you said. That's life I guess. Having lost my father to cancer, the one thing I realize is that what you probably need most now is hope, for you and for your family. Have a search on Google for Randy Pausch, and his "Last Lecture". Even though it's a sad story in the end (Randy passed away), it's also a story full of hope. Randy fought through his illness all the way. He also lived his last few month to the full, like you are doing, and he managed to leave a legacy behind for his family and children. Honestly, the last lecture video is something you have to watch ... Some of his most memorable words, that I have glued on my wall, are: "We cannot change the cards we are dealt, only how we play the hand..." I hope your doctors manage to find what is tormenting you, and give you the right therapy to cure it. As such, I wish you speedy recovery. And don't lose your hope...

Congrats on a great watch Pug. Believe it or not, your photos of the rep Moonwatch a long time ago, fueled my interest in one. As you already know, I am now looking left and right for an accurate replica of it, but to no avail. If there was a good offer on a used one, I'd consider it very seriously!!! Wear it well!

Hey all, As I said repeatedly, thanks to all for your support and valuable information!! This is what makes these forums so great! As you all realize, this was not necessarily an issue of "poor". In my view, it's a matter of budgeting, or in other words - So many reps, so little time (and resources). I don't think you can approach this hobby by buying all the 350$ reps you encounter. So I've tried to find value for money - if I can get 95% close to the gen for 130$ then I would prefer not spending 250$ to get to 97%. You can imagine I am still growing my collection. A vintage Rolex though, like the DRSD, is a different proposition. Still a rep, but so close to a gen - it has to be really really good. A dream come true in a sense. And so, saving up a little more to acquire this beautiful watch still represents "value for money", in my eyes. Most of all, I want the "feel" of a gen on my wrist, which I realized from our discussions that a less expensive watch wouldn't be able to offer. Of course this is very subjective. I will post photos of my MBW DRSD when I finally get it. Let the hunt begin... Thanks again, L

By-Tor, I only got around to reading this review from you recently, while researching DRSDs. Thank you for all you have done for this community and the help you offer through your reviews. This post has clarified a lot of the confusion regarding MBW, as far as I am concerned. And quite possibly persuaded me to follow this route, since it seems like the only way to get a good DRSD. It seems that I am reaching the same conclusion others have reached before me, from all I've read. MBW DRSD is the only way to go, if you want a nice vintage Double Red SeaDweller that looks and feels close to the gen. Anything less is just a modified Submariner - and since I already have one of those, there's no point. Most of the reviews of the DRSD (see By-Tor's for example) were writen over a year ago. I guess I was hoping that after all this time, dealers would've come up with a more accurate case and bezel for the SD. I was wrong... I'd better start saving up for the MBW then. For what is worth, my personal conclusion, after all my research and discussions these past few days, is similar to what Jetsons said: Thanks to all for your input!

Let's look at the facts. In my view, there are two scenarios: 1) You file a dispute with your Credit Card. On the positive side, you might get your money back. On the negative side, a) there is a risk you won't as you bought counterfeit goods. b ) Plus you run the risk of being "red-flagged" by customs because of this, and thus limit your ability to purchase stuff in the future. c) Even if you were to get your money back, you would definately be "red-flagged" by the dealers on this forum (I hear they have their own forum where they discuss clients who "f&ck up" and make claims against them on Paypal or through CC companies) d) You are endangering the dealer's ability to take money and thus the whole community's ability to order from him/her. 2) You can pay the 20$ and get your watch back On the positive side, a) 20$ is a very minimal cost in light of things. b ) Plus you get a brand new watch back. c) Plus you create a good relationship with the dealer, and you might even save this cost during your next purchase due to a discount (happened to me recently) On the negative side, you are out of 20$. That's like.... car fuel for a day. Or a couple drinks less on Saturday night out. The choice should be very clear in my opinion. The risks of filing a claim with your CC are very high. Keep in mind that, in effect, our hobby is illegal: we are buying counterfeit goods. At least the dealer is willing to exchange this for you...... My 0.02

@Pug, you hit the nail on the head. This is exactly my dilemma ... @thedudeabides, I've looked at Silix's offering and it looks a lot like a submariner case, slightly modified to accomodate the HRV. http://www.silix-prime.com/product.asp?id=1497 The reason I am considering the Seadweller for its "heaftyness" - being thicker, heavier, more solid. Unfortunately Silix's one doesn't inspire much confidence in this. I already have a Submariner (noobmariner), I'd like a watch that looks and feels different. Then again, Andrew's offering looks like a submariner case as well (11.5mm) and he's using a much thicker case-back to make up for that. So at the end of the day, we're back to what Pug is saying - either go with the entry level version to try out or save up for the MBW version. I will let you guys know what I decide. At this point, the MBW version looks more and more desireable, though... It's funny how things change the more you look into a particular watch! That's what makes us appreciate them though, in the end... Thanks for all your help!

Hi Tribal, Of course you can't. MBW DRSD is definately superior, mostly because of the case which accepts genuine parts. The question is, is Trusty's DRSD close enough to the MBW to be good value for money? Especially for someone who doesn't necessarily want to mod further. Thanks for your input, L

Hello all, I started looking at Rolex Double Red Seadwellers (DRSD) because of TTK's offering of an entry level DRSD. There is a topic below on this. However, I've spent the last couple of days reading up on more accurate / expensive ETA models, and considering whether it would be worth saving up for a more accurate DRSD. I was hoping some of the experts could give us their opinion on TrustyTime's Vintage Sea-Dweller, which he is selling for 228$, as compared to an MBW DRSD sold for roughly 350$-380$ by TTK or Paso. Andrew - TrustyTime DRSD for 218$ http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main...products_id=564 My initial impressions: First off, it uses an ETA movement which is always a plus. It looks like it comes with a decent thick case-back, even though he seems to be using a submariner case (11.5mm thickness) rather than the 14.5mm original SD case. Furthermore, he has a thick domed plexiglass. For some of the experts out there, who have MBW DRSD's, would this be a good-enough middle-of-the-road compromise? Or are there many differences, making the MBW DRSD at 350$ a better option? Note that other than a T39 front glass, I would probably not consider modifying the MBW any further. So, who has the best value-for-money DRSD? We're never satisfied, are we.....

Thickness was 14mm in TTK's posting, if I am not mistaken. And you are right, most "entry level" versions seem to use a submariner case of 12mm thickness - see Josh and Andrew. Still looking ....

Neil seems to have cleared his section, so the link above is no longer valid... arghh... @dieselpower I've inquired about MBW DRSD's, and they seem to go for about 350$. That's quite far out of my budget - I'd probably have to save a couple of months for that. Nonetheless, the more I look into it the more plausible it sounds. The question is, whether to go for an expensive version right away (MBW) or buy the Asian to see if I like it. Note that I tend to wear my Pam 005, 127 and Omega uPO a lot more than my Rolex Noobmariner. Mostly because I enjoy larger watches... @Lonnie Is there a specific vintage DRSD ETA for around 200$ you'd recommend? @spa Wow... even the gen (Mark IV) was yellowish.... I didn't realize this. Never cease to learn. And this probably proves that no-one will ever know whether the dial is too yellow or too white to be a gen. As long as you stay away from the AD and the gen forums!
