  1. Intersting. I picked up some Clark's for my build. I wonder how they compare.

Now that I think about it, my old one's in these pictures may be Clark's because I

broke one of my ST one's a while back and order a Clark set. These new ones

are really nice. Had I known how good they were, I would have order a few sets.

Plus my old ones only 1 side of the case you could Clearly see the end of the bar.

The other side was slightly recessed more. Now you can clearly see both sides are

    right near the case edge.

Nice Beard. I've always wanted to let mine grow-out to see how it would look.

So 10 weeks ago I decide to give it a try. Wife is not too happy already with it.

I keep telling her, its just the Boston Bruins tradition of letting it go until April

    playoffs ;-)

  3. While searching for another topic, I ran across this thread again. Is there any word how Mike is doing, here a year later? I almost hate to ask, but maybe we need to step up in a big way right now, and this is no coincidence?

Nanuq, not sure but Mike has nothing for sale on ebay. He's has 21 reviews within the last 6 months, but

nothing since then. Not a good sign, but I hope Mike is doing well. I still have, use & Love my pen

Mike made. Truly a masterpiece and well crafted writing instrument.

  4. Well today is my 25th Wedding Anniversary. Taking the wife out to dinner tonight.

This morning I gave her a nice card, tickets to the Boston Opera House showing of

The Nut Cracker, with overnight reservations at the Seaport Boston hotel for a night out on the town.

So today I'm wearing my 16610 on a different strap combo. I've had this strap sitting around

that's had very little use. I think I like the looks of this setup.

  5. Yes, I agree as well. Nothing worse than the disappearing act while you get other offers that you tell them, its OHPF.

Then by the time I give up on the 1st buyer, the 2nd or 3rd has moved on and are no longer interested. So now the

original buyer has cost me money! I had 1 guy tell me, "just give me a few hours to get home & I'll pay". Of ocurse

a few hours later, nothing. Then the next day I have another guy ready to pay. I was just about to send the 2nd buyer

my PP info, when out-of-the-blue I get an email from PP, "payment received" from the original buyer. I almost wanted

to return the funds for not only leaving me hanging, but not even asking me the next day if its still available before sending

the funds. Like you said, if something comes-up, fine I understand but it only takes 30 seconds to let me know!

  6. Do not touch that watch!  Find a smith close to you and let him or her set it for you.

Why Matt? I've done this to many of my own watches without any problems.

Why not try to teach yourself some of these 'minor' things to do yourself?

If you just take it easy, go slow and be patient you'll be fine. I get a great satifaction

when I do my own work / repairs. Nothing like getting inside and knowing your

    watch personally.

    Good luck!

  7. How about a black leather bund? I've been looking for something different for my 16610 as well, so I ordered one.

My plan is to rub the hell out of it with leather conditioner to make is softer, more flexible and easier to wear.

I'll let you know how it works out once I get it.

    Something like this:

  8. Daniel,

He may have already read your PM as he received an email notification with the content of your message.

True. So it might be better just to say his name, in case he still tries to 'get' someone else. He may have more than 1 login account / username anyways. Hopefully it is all just a misunderstanding.

  9. I was holding off, but have to join in

    Did I forget something

Yeah Mike, you did. You forgot to send it to me for an early Xmas gift. :)

Dave, what a cool time piece.  Truly one of the last lug hole 16610.  While I have an affinity for 16613 as that was my first gen, this certainly makes the voting difficult for me.  Awesome build man.

    Thanks Droptopman. :)

All built by our very own Mike (misiekped). Somewhat of a rare model, but according to Mike it was available from

Rolex for about 6 months only. During their transition from dropping the "Swiss – T<25" dials & Lug-Holed cases to

the newer "Swiss Made" dials and no-holed cases. So this makes mine a late 2002 / early 2003 Y series.

Oh and BTW, she is running 1.38 seconds fast per day. That’s COSC standards

    :inverted:

    Thanks,

    Dave…

  11. Ok guys, so here is your standard Uber Franken 16610 Sub. All Gen but midcase & bracelet.

    153C5084-49D8-4F52-AF1E-B547569B661F.jpg

But since I like to be ‘different’ I’m looking for strap ideas. So please show me what you’ve got your Rollies mounted on, other than the standard bracelet.

I’m thinking of going with a nice leather nato, but not sure if I want the strap end to be long enough go back over the keepers, or just long enough to use

more like a standard strap? I think if I want to go with a longer strap to wrap the end back over the keepers, the strap would have to be very thin because

I don’t really want a big thick strap with a bulky loop on that end!

    Ideas....

    Thanks,
    Dave…

  12. I'm Diggin that caseback. Now you got me thinking if I should get one for my build as well :g:

I also agree that at least when you put all that money into the Engine, you can lift-the-hood

anytime you want to look at it. Not so with our builds.

Please give me 1st bids on the caseback if you get tired of it. I can't wait to get my Sub back as well. :clap2:

    Enjoy wearing that beauty.

    Dave...

  13. So far, I only had 1 person say something. I was sitting in the waiting room at the eye doctors. I had my arm up on the back of the chair.

This guy was sitting there waiting for his wife. He must have noticed my watch from 20 feet away. Because when his wife come out,

he got up and as he was leaving and passing me, he just said "Nice Omega".

I was wearing my Ploprof. I just said Thanks.

    Dave...

  14. Well I would say, why send it into Rolex for service? You can find a really good service shop that works on Rolex movements at a Much cheaper rate.

My wife drives a beautiful Audi A6 but I don't take it to Audi for service. Why, their cost are too high for service and I'm lucky enough to have a Super local repair guy,

1 mile from my house. He has 25+ years of being a foreign auto mechanic.

If you never really plan on selling it, then who cares who serviced it, as long as it was done right. Still, even if you decided later to try and sell it for the

highest price you can get, Then send it to Rolex for a service so you can have a record of it.

This is kind of why I personally decided to have s Super Franken Sub built. Some will say (think) I've spent way too much on a rep. But to me, its the

Rolex I want, runs like any other Rolex and when I will need it serviced, it will go back to the builder (hopefully he'll still be around) for service.

In the end, I got what I wanted and I still saved money.
