  1. Thanks for all the info guys.

The most import part is that they are Gen Cases.

Refurbished is a plus for me as I will be wearing the watch for a very very long time.

Being that I have been looking for a vintage 5513 Gen case for over a year with no luck, coupled with the fact that the current prices are cheaper than Phong.. I think it's a no brainer.

  2. I figured who other than a rep community to figure out the validity of the Rolex Mid Case.

Please check them out and share with us on whether you believe this case to be Gen or Rep.

I have gotten multiple differing opinions on the Rolex forum from senior members via private messaging.

I will not disclose who the seller is, so as to keep it objective

  3. I personally would never put a fake dial on a gen watch.

The dial is the most obvious part of the watch.

Why would you spend $4k+ and live in fear of being called out for wearing a fake watch?

I would wear it with the service dial while you look for / Save for a gen period correct dial.

A gen period correct dial, while expensive, will add value to the watch and will retain or increase in value.
Even if you decide to sell the watch later, you can always part out the dial and sell it separately or together.

A gen will always be gen.  You can hand it down to your children, insure it, sell it, service it.
A rep will always be a rep and it's value tied to rep forum members.

  4. I bought my Gen Omega Chrono back in 2001 and I never wore much it because I found it to be to top heavy.

The chrono felt like I had a 1 pound weight tied to my wrist.

I sold it last year and bought a Gen Ceramic SMP 300.
The ceramic 300 has a slimmer profile and is much thinner and lighter.  I barely know it's on my wrist.

The best thing to do is to go to an Omega AD and try on both the watches and see which you like best.

    Good Luck

  5. The guy I bought it from said that it started out as a 5517.

Case and crown guards were softened to resemble a 40 year old watch.

It has a Swiss ETA movement.

The permanent spring guards were removed and the lug holes were drilled to accept gen fat springbars.

I'm not sure on the dial but it's pretty nice from arms length.

For $100 I didn't ask much questions lol

  6. Thank You everyone for your feedback

I have a Athaya 702 Tube and a Gen 702 crown I was saving for my Tudor 7928 Project.  I guess I can put it on my 5513.

The bracelet I'm using is a standard rep SS bracelet with a TC 93250 V3 clasp.  The clasp looks very convincing

Where can I get correct Rep 5513 hand for eta?

  7. Bought an old beater 5513 about 2 months ago and I replaced the crystal and insert.

Do you guys think I should take it further or leave it as is?

    If so what?

Here is the original beater 5513 I bought for $100

Here is the 5513 with a new Clark Tropic 19 and a Mark III FF insert:

  8. I don't know why they don't carry more than 10? at a time, so strange... At least you got one :)

    Seriously annoying.

I've only been waiting for 1 year for the stupid bracelet.

Cross my finger I don't get an email saying that they're sold out after I paid
