  1. Looks fantastic Jitai....for me it's a watch I never thought I would like enough un-modded , but since having mine finished by Ziggy it has grown on me to be an all time favourite!! Anjoy FGD
  2. The "Dogs Danglies" ...I'd expect the new owner to LOVE it .... Another masterpiece Ziggy...is it snowing by any chance ??? FGD
  3. Stealth !!!....that baby's dropping bombs on the forum and no-one saw it coming !! Fantastic end results and unique!!! Cheers FGD
  4. Evening PAM fans! Thanks for all the kind comments and feedback ....much appreciated. Dial text a tad thinner and an aged ivory tint to the lume colour is the aim. I'll keep you posted on progress Best FGD
  5. Fantastic work again VDB ...Amazing!! FGD
  6. Evening All. I received the first lumed prototype 2nd Gen dial this week and I'm fairly pleased with the results despite the delay. I think this is a case of the best things coming to those that wait!! I have to give credit to the maker as despite this taking much more "trial and error" than originally expected, the have not submitted a test dial to me until they have achieved these good results. At least they are not fobbing me off with shoddy work which gives great confidence. These have been fine mesh screen printed 6 TIMES with pure Super Luminova C3 (from the Japanese maker not Tritec) so the lume is pretty amazing and whilst not correct for a Pre-A watch , it is very pleasing to look at as a BNIB Pre-A look! The next stage is to try and achieve an accurate ivory aged tritium patina to the lume colour and then print another prototype This time all the dials will be matt varnished with a super fine mist to reduce the metallic sheen of the dial base. I am also planning to have these professionally mounted onto a 0.4mm base ETA dial with feet - sourced from ETA. I'd welcome your comments and any indication of lume colour preferences as I may get some more done in this C3 as well as aged patina. Cheers FGD
  7. Ziggy undertook a similar project for me and it was very frustrating He tried fitting the 27 movement assembly into a PAM 063 ETA 2836 and 029 case bodies without success The movement is thicker on the 2892 Soprod 9040 due to the PR module which sits on top and as such a thicker case was used on the original 027 rep I had a Jimmy case interior milled to accept the movement assembly perfectly but then the problem for me was the height of the bezel and the hand stack touching the crystal - so the rep crystal can't be installed. I'm not sure if a gen bezel and/or gen crystal would solve the problem but I have not been fortunate enough to find the parts and try. In the end I had a 27 case body but no bezel , so picked up a damaged rep 28 case , removed the bezel ,and polished it up to finish my 27. I found parts on here and through contacting all the dealers across all the boards. I picked up the 28 case set from Robert at Prestige Watch Co. It's a fantastic watch when completed so you just need luck ...or patience! Good luck FGD
  8. Looks absolutely bloody marvelous W! A real masterpiece. I see what you mean about the TiAln it looks PERFECT, but you've also nailed the hands perfectly as well! The whole thing looks the cats PJ's!! It's a real pleasure to see the first of the 2nd generation dials looking as good as they get! "The Master" is clearly increasing his powers at an exponential rate!! Every watch I receive back is perfect , but the next one I receive always seems to be even better. I'm not sure how this is possible but here we are again with another "first" that seemed an impossibility a few months ago Enjoy FGD
  9. The "Indiana Jones" award goes to you Beano!!!....you clearly have found a source of hidden treasures!! Congratulations and looking forward to see what's built!! Best FGD
  10. Looks very nice ...DSN PVD is the best "out of the box" and RED12 straps are something special as well!!! Enjoy FGD
  11. Thanks for the replies gents ...e-mail sent to Mr Rocketeer. Best regards FGD
  12. Hi I have a friend with a nice ETA 7750 253 and his crystal has smashed for the 2nd time... What are the options for replacements , I understand the Asian models are only supplied with mineral glass now and recall a post last year mentioning an option available from Cousins UK ? Appreciate any advice / assistance or a spare crystal if any one has one ? Cheers FGD
  13. Very very nice indeed ...one of the best!! Enjoy FGD
  14. @Projectologist ....I'm sharing the love for the brown dial ....but in awe and envy at that stunning Angelus!!! That's a real beauty and credit to VDB's craftsmanship. Enjoy FGD

  18. I know there have been a few excellent examples of these on show recently , most of which have been 9-12 months in the making. Mine has been on the same journeys across the globe but has now finally made it home ...completed!! First - thanks to Rolli for his perfect PVD service - taking this case set - leaching the old PVD coating and re-coating with this sublime finish. Secondly - Lello for the 2892 Datewheel - which is an essential mod as the standard ETA wheel is just too thin. Thirdly - SSSurfer - for the new cyclops - doesn't show up that well in these photos but on the wrist the date just pops out at you Fourth - Davidsen - I asked Ziggy to install a DSN PAM 29 centre seconds hand as the dot it in the correct position - maybe a bit small but am really happy with the finished results Fifth - T - this sports a T-48 PVD crown - superb fit and finish. Thanks T! Last but by no means least - big thanks to Ziggy for doing all the watch smith work and the vintage tritium mix lume work on the dial and hands - I never tire of looking at pictures of his uniquely accurate colour and work! Strapwise - a well worn in MP PAV98 24/22 with rep A series 2 screw PVD buckle! It is without doubt one of my all time favourite watches and is seldom leaving the wrist right now. It's an expensive project to start and finish but it conforms to any ratios of rep:gen with Gen's selling on the collector markets at $20K+ Thanks to all the contributors! Enjoy FGD
  19. Excellent post ST4 ...I agree without Stallone making the brand "his own" and taking it to Hollywod , Panerai may have remained a little known brand in Firenze! Both of these are rare pieces - but that 207 is Super Super Rare!! A new 205/A dial would be nice one day ....what do you think?? Great watches - enjoy and thanks for sharing FGD
  20. V got me interested in "Cajun Gator Straps" and now I am totally hooked! I purchased a black 26mm for my Fiddy (which is currently at "The Spa" ) and was so impressed I went for a couple of 24/22's On the PAM 61D is an antique brown with tan stitch - it has transformed this watch from a "potential for sale" into a new favourite "keeper" The 001B was always a keeper and I wanted something to smarten it up for work wear - went for the burgundy gator with ivory stitch for a gen like colour combo. I'm delighted with both and would highly recommend dealing with Brent if you haven't already done so!!! Thanks and enjoy FGD
  21. What can I say ....Ziggy just helped finish this piece and I am over the moon ....I don't think it needs anything else It's just come back from the "spa" after having a new crystal fitted (from a donor 199 with better cyclops - Ziggy kindly removed the AR as well) and a new pearl manufactured on Ziggy's lathe after I lost the original one! The new pearl has been re-lumed with Ziggy's "extra special aged tritium" mix - the finish of both lathe and lume work is superb! The rest of the specs are: Gen Dial and original rep hands ETA 7750 Decorated movement A series PAM 24A case set and re-worked CG Davidsens Bold Font 7750 DW Genuine Auto Crown. HKTAN Black gator deployment strap on OEM Polished deployment claps. Thanks to Ziggy for pulling all this together with such perfection ....and I doff my cap to Kruzer for the crystal tip Enjoy FGD
  22. I agree VDB ...V's dark brown strap is fantastic - especially on your watches!! I picked one up myself and am very pleased with it ....great length , so comfortable and perfect with those GPF Mod Dep buckles!!! Enjoy yours !! FGD
  23. Mine mostly sports a PAV 91 on logo buckle
  24. You flipped reamed and rammed it well ....looks great! Excellent review also -one of the best I've seen in a long time ....credit to you and all those that take the time and effort to do these! Enjoy that 240! FGD
  25. Nice watch ..looking good! Movement wise -it certainly looks like a swiss balance assembly with early version asian bridges that look "stamped" rather than engraved. These were often sold as Swiss by dealers. I couldn't say on a % split of origin on this one though from the photos as the pearlage baseplate is not normally found on swiss parts used in rep Panerai movements this is making me think ETA clone and therefore possibly 100% Asian Is it stamped ETA 6497-1 beneath the balance wheel? Either way if it runs well then don't worry about it FGD
