Looks very good and excellent finish on the case set!! Enjoy FGD

A good member on this board told me his rule of thumb when buying replica watches - "Buy the Asian version and if in time you decide want to keep it ...upgrade it to a Swiss movement. If it's not a keeper you've got less outlay and easier to sell on in the trading forums" Good luck FGD

Looks great - especially the dial Enjoy FGD

Lefties are another Panerai iconic model, but alas I've just got the one now and often ponder "To PVD or not to PVD" ....that is the question... FGD
-
Good to hear from you T ...and as always your wisdom on these matters is much appreciated. In this case I'm chuffed to bits as it's the only thing I figured couldn't be corrected , but now..no need!!! Cheers FGD

T Sorry to hear of your loss and it's great to see you back on the board where you've been missed. If you want to take on more projects then I agree with all of the above and would say 1:1 CG's is where the volume demand lies. If you wanted to raise the bar to new heights ......a 1:1 Pre-V case (using the available OP blueprints) would go down a treat I'm sure Best Regards Simon

Some serious base action going on today D.......another fine selection of parts and finish - I especially like the contrast in crown to CG - so many gens have the same difference and must reflect different factories making and coating different parts for OP. Love it !! FGD

That's excellent D ...fantastic choice of parts and put together perfectly. I am really blown away by the dial (and not blowing my own trumpet either) - the end result when Ziggy fills those markers is sublime!! Hope you enjoy that one it's a keeper for sure! FGD

Pam guru's chime in: Panerai Box real or fake?
fishgodeep replied to ravishingrick's topic in The Panerai Area
Pretty sure this isn't gen Colour looks wrong , steel plaque looks wrong, and it has the "usual suspects" fake libretto and guarantee card but no Storici or outer box / production labels which haven't ever been repped to my knowledge. Burn it FGD -
It's all a matter of personal taste really I have a gen 002-D and a few gen dial "frankens" - whilst the 002 is a lovely watch , I wasn't as overwhelmed by the differences in Gen vs Rep as I expected. It is possible with time , some money and a good watchsmith to build you own very good quality rep even better with genuine parts if you can find them. That said - the 002 is one of the simplest watches out there with less details to distinguish it from reps other than build and finish. I agree with PAMMan that 111-G has the optimum choice of "classic and collectable" Panerai elements in it's build versus most earlier and later incarnations of the Luminor Marina entry model. It is a very versatile watch. The automatics are much harder to replicate with the same attention to detail and finish as on handwounds - the crystal , cyclops , datewheel are in a class of their own. If I was starting again and only had to choose one genuine PAM for every day wear , I think I'd go for the 104. But there's no such thing as ..."just one PAM" Good luck FGD

Thanks D & all...mainly the crisp bold dial text and satin finish on the tuxedo stripes.....still the hour markers should be closer into the centre of the dial and I haven't seen a version with this corrected ? FGD

Here's the missing piece from my collection that has been one of the most challenging to complete. I went about it the wrong way - sourcing each part individually only for Ziggy to discover (to his frustration) that not everything would fit together properly. This one took a few goes to get right and I have to thank Ziggy for his patience and commitment to achieve the finished result!! Specs and Build ETA 2893-2 sourced by Ziggy Rep Case set and Spacer - from 2836-2 version Best dial I could find - sourced from prestige watch co. Davidsen hands stack Lello Datewheel Chieftang cyclops Kruzer OEM Auto crown OEM Black gator strap on OEM brushed tang buckle Work Done Dial and hands re-lumed in C3 Superluminova Datewheel installed OEM Crown installed - tube modified. Cylclops installed Watch built and regulated I finished the CG myself (Lever pin , tighten , polish etc) It is one of my favourite PAM's and probably my next gen purchase (if ever the cash was spare) - it's either this or a 23 as I really like the cleanliness of the dials coupled with the explorer style bezel. It makes for another classic Panerai model and IMHO a future neo-vintage ...especially 23. The true functional GMT complicatoon is far more useful than I expected and this has become a popular choice for work. Thanks to the master Ziggy , all the participants ,without whom some of the mods would not have been possible and a salute to all the GMT Pams out there that inspired me !! Enjoy FGD
