  8. I tend to find that people are actually interested to learn about the incredible mark-ups within the supply chain of genuine luxury goods. When you consider that a genuine $5000 RRP PAM contains maybe $300 of materials , $300 of COSC testing, approx $300 labour and the reseller purchases for maybe $2800 direct from OP , simple maths tells you some one is making a lot of money. The fact that authorised dealers exist only in the most elite of shopping areas , where rents rates etc will be astronomical, they need to make a lot of money per item. It's the "location , location , location " rule that's key to a brands success and maintaining Elite status..........much more than TV advertising etc for these Ultra rich brands. The incentive to maintain pricing across the globe ( there is very little free competition between dealers) all smacks of Cartel like activity and is simply not permitted in most industries. Money attracts money , so the people with the money to buy genuine, will also either be in position to or influence the right decision for these brands - be that by ignoring price fixing and cartel like activity , strengthening anti-counterfeit laws in their favour etc. All that said, the genuine article is the genuine article and any rep, copy , fake reproduction etc cannot be anything more than what it is. You are only trying to fool yourself if you think or say otherwise, regardless of quality , % close to gen etc. Reps only exist because of this huge profit margin that is open for exploitation and always will be. I certainly wouldn't have a collection of 20 reps with work to do on them that lead me here if I had the millions of spare cash for an uber rich lifestyle - I'd be the genuine brands target customer because I would be attracted to the areas where the genuine dealers would be waiting to help me part with my cash. All of this debate rep/ gen for me really boils down to human behaviour and class systems that have existed ever since records began..... I think mister Rolex himself said something like ..." If you want to tell the time get a Timex ....If you want to tell the world you're here get a Rolex" We are all here in part because we are waiting for our next ride on the "class elevator" ....up preferably. Any badge of status that will help get to the front of the queue (or fool accordingly) and go to the next floor or two is legitimate. That's why we ain't wearing Timex Fishgodeep
  9. I agree - it's a great looking piece but also feel it will sit in the 47mm box with the others that are just too big to wear every day. For
  10. Cocaine is without question illegal in the UK as the rest of the world but if the figures are to believed , there has been a 500% increase in shipments (this based on seizures at x % of total) over recent years. Also massive influx of immigration from Eastern Europe has created it's own illegal problems form them to focus on - human trafficking , gun-crime etc. I have a friend who works in the postal service in the Uk and according to him - all they are told to look out for when sorting mail is anything that smells like explosive or chemicals , powders, or if it ticks (LOL) I think with "war on terror" sh*t , bombs ,drugs and even the odd bit of plutonium getting into the country (killing a Russian spy in December ) replica watches will be far dwon their list of priorities .....the country is f*cked anyway!!! Pirated DVD's , Music etc have been hit hard recently - but we are talking self contained home-factory operations churning out 1000's of copies a day. I think you have to be very unlucky to get caught with small volumes - Homer has being doing business for some time now and keeping it very clean and tidy. All the best from the UK fishgodeep
  11. All, I have a suggestion to Davidsen and anyone interested that may help avoid issues via stealth..........use E-bay as the front for purchases 1- Item detail and pricing discussed and agreed via e-mail as normal- Total amount payable agreed. 2- Dealer (or someone for them) list an "imaginary" items on Ebay such as a collectable comic , toy, ornament , whatever really - on Buy It Now - only for the agreed amount. Dealer supplies link to customer via e-mail. 3- Purchase made on E-Bay , Payment sent by PayPal ......non issue product so no investigation by PayPal. Clearly would only work if customers have e-bay accounts, but if you have PayPal most likely to get an Ebay account. Any thoughts ? fishgodeep
  12. This one caught my eye - at £800GBP or $1500 US it seems a bargain or is the lucky winning bidder about to do something he'll regret... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...p;rd=1&rd=1 fishgodeep
  13. Hi - believe it's just the larger sapphire crystals on 47mm watches - mainly the 127 and 217 Destro Marina Militare. Probably cost cutting in the production process. I can't comment on dealers on this site as I didn't purchase mine from any of these listed. I have purchased a replacement crystal from Davidsen and had no problems with this and would therefore reccomend if you want a 47mm model
  14. Same thing happened to me. Apparently there is a defect in crystals coming out of one maker in Guanzhou and yes this maker supplies a lot of factories. It's a poor mineral mix that reacts badly to changes in temperature - uneven contraction / expansion due to the bad mix. I sourced replacements from Shanghai from my 127 and one from Davidsen for my 217.....no problems since and they have been -15 to + 40 C to check!! fishgodeep
