  1. Welcome back! Guys, I've seen a few of The Zigmeister's T relumes, and currently own 1. Compared side by ide w/ gen tririum it is absolutely impossible to distinguish without timing the glow over several hours. In other words, in any real world situation you will NEVER get called out on the T/L issue.
  2. Once you do the B series for the reasons stated above, it's really a matter of personal taste. Especially w/ the B1176 caseback either T or L is accurate. The Zigmeister's tririum is spot on, and so would SL. Personally, I'd go with the lume just so you don't have to source another dial. W/ a T48 crown and a CG pin fix, you'd be indistinguishable from gen aside from the A's.
  3. The state of the art all-rep would be: #117 Case rebrushed to match gen Relumed EL dial DSN hands DSN Xtal w/ chieftang single-sided AR Best version engraved bridges Asian Pre H-series movement Gen strap You can expect to pay a pretty penny for an EL dial, but the rest of the stuff is readily available for a few hundred bucks all in. If you are going to source gen parts, I'd rank them in order of importance: Movement Xtal Dial CG Hands Crown Buckle Good Luck!!!
  4. If they even gave it any thought at all, they probably figured there wouldn't be enough interest, especially if they couldn't get the subdial spacing right. I'd love to own one though, especially since I've seen gen dials come up from time to time.
  5. I'll have to keep that in mind when I have mine assembled:
  6. Beano, looks like the dial refinishing turned out very nicely. The fonts look great, the subdial markers only look slightly too thin. The glossiness is hard to tell from the pics, of course, but I bet that turned out fine as well. Please do post some closeup pics! A fine watch w/ genuine parts! Wear it well!
  7. I've bought all of mine from ebay listings...watchco australia is a good seller.
  8. Have I entered some paralell Muller universe? What are you guys talking about? Innacurate? 25K? Gold plating? Expensive gen dials? Caseback's good aside from the idiotic SN. Case/pushers/crown good. Dial's OK (mine'll have a gen dial which I bought for $19). Gen and rep are both steel. Gen's about 11K.
  9. Excellent job!! I'm working on an 089 franken (gen dial and hands). Some random thoughts: You have to use the DSN case because it's the only one that says titanium. It needs to be rebrushed to the more aggressive OEM specs. The ultimate hands look spot on to the gen hands I'm using one of kruzers gen Ti crowns, which I hope will work w/ a 1.2 to .9 adapter I hope the PAM 36 rep CG I paid through the nose for will fir the DSN case, since the DSN guard has typical DSN workmanship, which is to say awful. Anyone done this swap? I can't decide whether or not to use the DSN movement w/ lello DW and DSN xtal w/ a watchmen cyclops or buy an ultimate 88, swap out the movement and xtal (and sell an unultimate 88 to recoup part of the cost). I don't understand why the GMT mod would create a gap, since it's my understanding there are no transfer gears or a top plate that usually create the gap. If there is a gap on my project I'll be seriously bummed. Just as a note: the rep 089 dial is excellent. Aside from the A's and the subdial printing there wouldn't be a hell of a lot of difference between a franken and a well-lumed rep. Congrats on the 89. With the ultimate hand fix and excellent dial, this could be one of the most accurate GMT reps avaliable, W/ a few simple mods right up there w/ the honpo 29. The added bonus is that it also provides a little variety from the glut of polished steel/black dial PAMs we all have in our collections.
  10. The DSN Xtal is fine, but none of the rep xtals are accurate. A chieftang single sided ar would fix the Ar problem (or if that's not doable for you, I'd just remove the rep AR). The main problem is the distortion, or lack thereof, on the rep xtals when compared to the gen. Having had the opportunity to compare all the possible rep/gen dial and xtal combos in person, I'd rather have a eddie lee dial and a gen xtal than a gen dial and a DSN xtal.
  11. I'm in for: 2 X 7750 seconds at 9 in black 1 x 7750 seconds at 9 in white 1 X 2892 1 X 2893 Thanks!
  12. kruz, if the progression in the dials was from fatter to thinner fonts, I bet that's version #2 since the fonts look slightly thinner than your dial and slighty fatter than my gen dial.
  13. I'm not doubting you in the slightest, but I'd love to see a pic of the "third" fiddy dial. I've held in my hand 2 different gen fiddy dials (mine and another RWGers) and have looked at hundreds of pics of gen fiddy dials. Every gen pic I've seen matches one or the other of those dials. I've never been able to find the Gray version---I believe I have seen one with different R's. Either that's the third gen version or a rep variant I'm not aware of.
  14. The rocket and modules are about 95% reps of the russian versions. I [censored] you not.
  15. WOW!!! Greeat pics of a gorgeous watch. Absolutely no way to make a Conq. better than that, folks. The hands now match gen 1:1 in color and anyone who's seen a gen dial knows that there is just no comparison between the rep and gen in visual quality. There are only two in the world...well, there are thousands, I guess, that look almost exactly like Chieftang's but only two that cost less than grand. Wear it well, My friend!
  16. Oh, I'll edit it for Pet's sake. BTW, you didn't need to tell us which party you belong to. Your post was, by your reading of the rules which are rules, a violation of both Rule #6 and your own refugee status, but also completely obvious by the use of the phrase "rules are rules."
  17. That sounds like something Randi Rhodes would say. I love Randi Rhodes.
  18. Guns? Do people still give a [censored] about guns?
  19. Nah, he's a hustler. Read about Bush's "faith based initiative," which the GOP set up to try to run money through african american churches, which they could never do overtly like dems do. It's a pretty complex issue, but suffice to say this guy knows that since he took bush's money, the gravy train ends unless crazy john wins. He's just doing his part to keep a few old ladies home on election day.
  20. On Edit: I urge my fellow RWGers to follow all rules faithfully at all times. I also urge them to vote for their favorite candidate in Novemeber, regardess of that candidate's state of sanity.
  21. This is a classic example of a watch that nobody will think is fake if you're the kind of guy who can wear a 12k rose gold watch, and which everyone will think is fake if you're not. The flaws (markers to the right of the date window, primarily, not to mention the rep is plated) don't matter 1/10 as much as you clothes, age, job, and comportment.
  22. This is one instance where I believe the guy was judging the watch not the wearer. A whole career in the watch business? Sure he could spot instantly as lot's of us could, even not knowing the tells. IMO, on super high end watches especially there are a lot of little things, probably none that we could put our finger on specifically, that make a gen an instant tell from rep. It's a lot of little things working together on the subconscious--the dial, the hands, the fit and finish. We're fooling ourselves if we think all but the best frankens might fool a professional or a serious collector. We just have to settle for fooling 99.9999% of the people we meet.
  23. Thinking of picking up one of these from a member w/ a broken camera... Anyone have a pic of the production caseback--can't find one on DSN's site.
  24. Mods, sorry to spam this reply, but we have 5 first page threads of single digit posters asking if unreppable reps can be repped, two of which link to scam sites. Here's my cut and paste reply to the guys posting these threads. I'm sure you mean well and mean no harm but here is a suggestion that will save you time: Just as a general rule, with VERY few exceptions if a watch has a tourbillon or another complication not readily available in existing rep movements (power reserve, GMT, ETA 7750 based chronograph, etc) it will never be repped except in maybe a $108 piece that you wont want to buy. Prior to your next "is there a rep of this" post, you may want to save yourself the disapointment zero reply threads by doing a few minutes of research about which movement types are found in 99% of all reps. Even better, just take a look at a couple of the larger dealer sites. If the watch you want is not pictured there it probably isn't repped.
  25. So you want a perpetual caladar chronograph rep? Me too. but it ain't going to happen.
