  1. Just as a general rule, with VERY few exceptions if a watch has a tourbillon or another complication not readily available in existing rep movements (power reserve, GMT, ETA 7750 based chronograph, etc) it will never be repped except in maybe a $108 piece that you wont want to buy. Prior to your next "is there a rep of this" post, you may want to save yourself the disapointment zero reply threads by doing a few minutes of research about which movement types are found in 99% of all reps. Even better, just take a look at a couple of the larger dealer sites. If the watch you want is not pictured there it probably isn't repped.
  2. The most accurate one is the ugliest, unfortunately. It's the white dial crazy color dreams. It's the most accurate because it's the only modem that FM made in steel. All of the others would have been made in precious metals only. If you can get past the metals issue, they're all pretty accurate. Just make sure the hands are the right color, by using pics of gens for reference.
  3. Way I see it, anyone in any business who hasn't missed a 20k opportunity is even less lucky than you. Anyone who hasn't missed a 20k (or more) opportunity has had too few 20k opportunities. I wouldn't worry about blowing this one. If this is the only 20k opportunity you think you'll ever get, then that would really suck.
  4. Actually, it would be a low cannon pin. But the post on RWI is right. I guess the best way to do make an MBK more accurate would be to lift the dial off of one of the "chinese" no-track versions and swap the cannopn pin for the secondsless version (or swap the movement as LR is doing). Anyone done this? I guess the dial would fit OK...
  5. Absolutely a great job as usual, Tribal. Hmmmmm....do you think I should use my MBW case + gen bezel for my LV project or wait for Eurotimes' lug hole case + gen bezel? My CG do not look as good as yours, but the holes are drilled.

    9/11

All of us in DC, NY and accross America have so much to mourn today: Thousands of lives cut short by cowards, followed by a tremendous opportunity to marshall the world to defeat them utterly squandered, exchanged for a failed attempt at consolidated of political power, financial gain for a very few, the settling of a family score, and the disdain of the world. Here's to truly serving the memory of those who died: let's trade the failed sideshow of the last seven years for an real doubled effort to get the f****s who actually attacked us.
  7. I haven't pulled the trigger on anything form Chris yet, but I have been closely following his progress as a dealer. It seems to me that we finally have a guy who, at least at this point in his career, gets it: Seeing what mods guys are doing and tryingto provide them stock is what lots of RWGers have been begging for for years. Combined w/ good QC, I see a long lucrative career around here in store for him. Now...if he would branch out into PAM parts, he'd solve multiple problems w/ frustrating inaccuracies, poor QC, and diffident customer service.
  8. Of course the edits and opinions above are mine an not Corgi's.
  9. I'm picturing you guys sliding up to to the bar next to to a couple of hot chicks to order a drink while speaking "speaking" to the rep Ventu concierge: "That's right...so we land in Paris at what, 8:00?....great...what time can we check into the Athenee?" At least that's what I'd do....
  10. Some pics and your expert opinion on the case differences would be great for Rolex idiots like myself. I'd like to build a great LV one of these days.
  11. Nice!! Is the caseback # 117 or 581?
  12. Thanks to the sudden gusher of OEM PAM parts over the last 5 months I've lucked into Gen sapphire, sweep second hand, crown, and carbon fiber strap so I'm going to buy this version. My observations from the pics: --The dial looks much better: they got the tic marks right direction at last and the numbers/markers look thicker, but maybe not thick enough. Those fonts look kind of gray, don't they? Let's hope it's just the pics. --The case, CG, and pushers look the same as previous versions --the caseback is improved. The H series caseback was an utter abortion. --You could make a pretty accurate movement (in appearance, not function of course) by combining one of the new A7750's w/ pearlage and regulator w/ this rep's transfer gears and rotor. --the brushing will have to be brought up to snuff as do all brushed PAM reps. Once mine arrives and the above mods (plus a lume, of course) are complete I'll post pics.
  13. Yet another product as only DSN can make.
  14. I can't find the pic, but one of my fav strap combos of all time was in a pic someone posted of OEM cream colored croc on a rep 63. All the lume and ink on the 63 just made that strap sing.
  15. Anyone who wears a Uboat in public, rep or gen, has my undying respect. I believe king is selling the rep of the exact watch you describe in her sales area.
  16. The Gen 212H AR is virtually invisible. Gen 111E is also very faint but you can make out some blue/purple. Gen 86D is also almost impossible to see, maybe because of the dial?. I don't remember what my now-sold 000G's AR looked like. IMO the rep AR is an instant tell.
  17. it works better erasing the part of the code that contains their URL, a little advertising on their part I bet.... just cut and paste this part: [Xmg]http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/2419/29auf1.jpg
  18. Thanks...let's se if image shack works: [url=http://imageshack.us][/url
  19. I'm thinking of selling mine too, although mine is fully modded. To answer your question: It depends on which 29 you have. Decorated movement? Individual serial #? If you answered those 2 questions no and you have a 100/500, unmarked 2892 PAM29 it'll sell in 30 seconds @ $500 and within 24 hours at the far more reasonable $700. If you answered those 2 questions yes and you have a "honpo" 29 you'll sell it in 30 seconds @ $500-700, probably to someone who just opined that $500 to $700 is somewhere near the low end of reasonable. It ain't. Here are a couple facts to consider: These babies were $600 or more new, when you could get them which you haven't been able to do for 2 years. Several unmodded, faux PVD 28's just sold out at $829 on ioffer. Undecorated 2893's sell for nearly $400, if you can get them. My advice would be to list at $850 and let the bargain hunters stick to their DSN versions. You'll sell soon enough to someone who knows what the'd be buying...
  20. Congrats! A great watch and IMO an investment that ought to return 25-40% over the next couple years!! Having looked at a gazillion rep/gen pics and held more than a few rep and gen fiddy parts side by side here are the big instant-tell diffs aside from the SN# and movement. --The six on all 3 versions of the gen dials is less rounded than any version of the rep dial I've seen. --The EL dial fonts are the right color but are slightly thinner than all but the "3rd" version gen dial. --DSN dial fonts are dead on but, since he is DSN, he somehow used gray ink instead of beige. --The gen CG pin is larger and flatter than any rep pin, modded or stock --The dots on the Gen "reg TM" are square. On the rep they're round. --The gen crown is better finished and the teeth are "crooked." Having stared atr gen and rep crowns side by side for long periods of time I'm convinced that a rep crown can be modded/polished to match w/ a little skill. I wouldn't be surprised if the gen crown was CNC'd to look something like the rep and then hand finished. --The rep sapphire will definitely need subtle single AR --It's so hard to tell the difference between the shape of the rep and gen hands and crystal from pics, you'd almost have to see them side by side, which I have not yet done.
  21. Optical illusion. I've gazed lovingly at a 213 at the local AD many times. The rotor is engraved and inked.
  22. I know of at least 8 people doing this identical project, and I bet there are many more. I bet anyone willing to arrange a group buy of bridge plates (can they be that hard to make?) would find a lot of interest.
  23. Whoever the 60 teeth assertor is, I guess he didn't check "by this method." But then again, I bet he probably wouldn't have written a check to a CNC shop without personally counting the teeth on a gen crown either, especially if he had one in hand. I agree w/ T. This is a communal mistake not the mistake of any single assertor. Do any of our teethcounters have a gen A series auto in their collections along side their lonely Base? I'd love it if someone who has one would count the teeth. That way we can be sure that those ebay crowns are fake. In any event, I'll repeat my original point: There has never been an RWG project--date wheel overlay, date wheel, crown, CG, anything--that can stand up to gen at 10X magnification. But all are big improvements over the rep. I'll happily buy a couple of T's 60 teeth crowns and never worry a second.
  24. LOL! A couple people (undoubtedly from here) have bid this thing well above the usual going price since ubi's post. There's still an hour left guys--'C'mon! I know you want to pay 25% of the cost of a used gen for a bezel and insert!
