  1. Thanks guys. So actually in my research, once I had a starting point, it looks like the

    Rolex Oyster

    Perpetual

    line break is gen:

...and lots more examples where those came from.

Only the hands, I can't seem to find an example of those, also the dial is way too pristine (and rather 'flat' looking, even considering the lousy capture) which is what stood out to me at first. I am leaning towards prop/replica, but the prop master certainly new what he was re-creating. Thanks again, I learned a whole lot about Rolex and Bubblebacks today. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

    :thumbsupsmileyanim: WOW!!! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I'm going to do a little research into this subject myself, I love how those watches look, they must have looked incredible when they were first built :victory:

    [Edit to add]

This was the concept work I mentioned above. Purely done for my own amusement, and as I'm not able to save anything on my autoCAD program, I did a 'rush job' to finish the overall look before retiring for the night. I wasn't originally planning to put it up for display, but as the subject has come up, I figured I would share :)

  2. It's far from finished, and certainly nothing spectacular, but I've really enjoyed wearing this watch the last few days, so thought I'd try my hand at Freddy's mirror shots :)

This is one of my favorite photos of the dial (mounted in different case) :)

  3. I'm guessing a fantasy dial (ironically, I was working on a very similar design a few days ago for personal amusement) The thing which makes me suspect a fantasy dial, is the layout of the text, with Rolex and Oyster on the same line... Either way :victory: for something a bit different and a break from the norm of the usual suspects :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  4. I love it too TJ!

But I'm so bad with these things that I lost contact with our beloved RWG :wounded1:

I'm sure we will have you at one of these GTG in the future...it's just a matter of timing, isn't it ?

It's good to have you back, I hope life has been treating you well :) As you say, it's just a matter of time before I can make it to a GTG, I keep telling Emily what an awesome country Belgium is, and what an awesome group this is, it'll be great to be able to show her both at the same time :good::drinks:

His feedback was 100% one of the negs is mine the other is a follow up after I contacted the other buyer and checked the sale , same story same watch same serial number. And as you can see the watch looks genuine. Also this statment came from Tag heuer

... Fluted crown for easy winding. Identical to the original model... see link.

Ahh, that must refer to the original model of the watch to which this might be a modern version of, if they have that wording, fair enough that he copied it into his own description (well, other than him trying to sell a rep as a gen...) Here's hoping you get a satisfactory resolution :good:

  6. Hi all,

I'm still alive but experience some troubles with the Forum soft since I'm in Win7 :black_eye:

I have no alerts and can't see in my posts/my topics the last post!

I am currently browsing and that's how I figured the thread was updated.

Anyway, it's a shame indeed Frank!

Looks like we have a great group this year again.

Come on folks, cancell all your stuff and join!

So, we have a menu and a price now.

I think it's the same as last year: 28

  7. I'm almost finished remodling and moving in .. It's been like moving twice actually .. Just getting the picture windows tinted today.. And all that's left are odds and ends like fixtures and stuff .. But the bulkbis finished.. So the light at the end of the tunnel is a nice sight :)

Awesome news :good: When you say 'picture windows tinted', does that mean large single pane windows, or something more like the stained glass windows of a church? When we move into our pool house, I'm putting white blackout film on the bedroom windows :victory:

  8. Just a quick and dirty pic...

I really wanted to get this watch wearable for the upcoming hot weather (Silly, I know, but I trust solid bars a lot more with a NATO strap than springbars :bangin: ) and with no Snowflake hands, nor Swiss movement to mount them on, I was forced to cannibalize my 6200 project for the movement and hands :whistling: Not perfect, I know, but I love the dial which Slartibartfast gifted me, and I like the abuse wabi-sabi of the crystal, so I wanted to give it some wrist time. Today's actually cooler than the last couple of days, so I'll probably be back to the 7919 again tomorrow, but I wanted to keep this on for a little while longer :thumbsupsmileyanim: Here's looking forward to being able to complete the project properly :victory:

  9. Really sorry to hear, I hope everything gets resolved. I just looked at the listing, and saw this text as part of the sales blurb:

Fluted crown for easy winding. Identical to the original model.

I guess they copy/pasted that bit from a rep dealer's advert :whistling:

  10. The merging of 2 companies has been trying to say the least .... 300 production, writers and assorted sales peeps will loose their jobs after many years of service .. And in Hawaii's job market ... I really feel for them.

I've finally finished moving all the heavy crap outta my old dwelling.. And my back is feeling it.. But it's a relief to be done :)

somewhat of a nightmare for the past month.

Moving is such a pain in the ass...

I can't wait to have my computer cable set up for some high speed action.. I miss the community :)

can't afford to be away for too long.. I'd go nutz .. Like first purchases ;)

Can't believe I missed your post, bro, but really glad to hear you've got your stuff moved :victory:

  11. Very cool!

...but for eight grand??? How much does it cost to DLC one of these?

I think DLC runs at about $200-$300...

I just checked back to an enquiry I sent to Avitt about DLC coating, and the costs to DLC a Sub were $365 for the watch (which includes disassembly and assembly), $175 for a bracelet, plus return shipping.

  12. Wow, i was asking for friendly advice and it became all this!

I am a British citizen from Canada btw, my parents were born and married in Scotland which makes me a citizen...but I also do not fault people who come to Britain from far less off countries trying to better themselves either. That's one of the cool things about the UK, they are compassionate and try to help.

Sadly, weak governments have allowed that compassion to be exploited by many economic migrants who only came to the UK to better their wallets, not to contribute to the community, which is a shame, especially when countries like Australia, are much stricter on migration :) Oh well :D

PS, I am looking for a job and would work in a pub or anywhere else to get started...any offers? lol

You might want to try looking on a website called The Gumtree :)

And luckily my religion is the major religion of the UK chiefwiggum, I'm a Jedi!

I'm sure I read somewhere that there are more Jedi than Jews in the UK

  13. Looking good, my man :good::drinks: Doesn't have to be a perfect recreation of a specific model, if it's got all the parts which you personally like, and it represents the watch which you want to be wearing, that's all that matters :good:

A plexy glass vintage GMT master i think
