  1. I'm no expert on YachtMasters, so I couldn't say how accurate/inaccurate it might be, but, either way, that's a really nice looking watch, and a very nice gift.
  2. Problem solved, my fiance had a bead-bracelet that was the same gauge wire as the spring, so I have simply made myself a new one. I had enough wire left over to make eleven more, so, if anyone needs a new bezel spring, these are available. How does $20 shipped sound?
  3. I managed to get the bezel off no trouble. Realligned the insert no trouble. Was putting it all back together, when the bezel spring shot across the room. It happened a few times, but I managed to track it down. Until this time. I know it will turn up in the future, but I cannot be bothered to scrabble around for it any further, so might just as well buy a replacement spring. I've looked on Ofrei.com with no success. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  4. Oh I agree entirely, 100% POS, but, as I said, it's a guilty pleasure... It keeps good time, and that's why I'm planning on replacing the parts to make it a nicer watch. Financially, I know I can buy a new watch for cheaper than the cost of replacing the parts, but I can't help loving it and want to give it the chance to be more than it is now
  5. Do NOT I repeat NOT order your bezel from that dealer on eBay. I had the misfortune of ordering a Rolex Submariner bezel from them last year, and their product was junk. They claim (on their auction) that the item will not be told from the original item. This is bull. My mother in law, who knows nothing about watches, could tell the two bezels apart. Whenever someone leaves this dealer negative feedback, they use the same reply: "Liar All customers satisfied with product/service" even when there is evidence to the contrary. They are a total sleaze and deserve to get busted for copyright infringement and false advertizing. Given I own and love rep watches, I am not someone particularly bothered about those things, but in this case, that person really deserves to get removed from eBay for their sales. They may have a high rating, but those people were clearly either idiots who could not tell the real thing from garbage, or, people who did not care about accuracy and would settle for any garbage. Just a quick FYI
  6. Forgot to upload a pic... This is the best I can do at present from my phone's camera.
  7. I recently bought a $40 Omega SMP 2531.80 (Long story as to why I got it) and it goes without saying, that in terms of rep accuracy, it's not too good. Infact, it'd only pass as an Omega with someone who knew nothing about Omega watches. The inaccuracies are: Moulded links on bracelet and wrong deployment clasp Bezel only has 11 of the 12 scallops machined Bezel insert is polished titanium with markings laser etched Minute Hand does not have luminous material along the skeleton sides, only at the tip Hour markers are in the 2220.80/Rolex Submariner style The dial is black and the date window is incorrectly positioned too close to the crown. Drying condensation in the case under a daylight lamp baked the lumes, and they are now the yellow/cream color of those on a Vintage Submariner. (my fault, not manufacturer flaw) But. It keeps good time, and the sweep on the second hand is as smooth as an ice-cold beer. With my Planet Ocean returned for repair, this watch has been getting priority wrist time over my Submariner (I've pretty much gone right off Rolexs) and this watch has become something of a shamefull pleasure... Kind of like having the hots for your wife's younger sister... You know you shouldn't, but can't help yourself... Anyway. My project. Some of the inaccuracies, I actually like, some of the more glaring errors, I am planning on correcting, but I am having trouble tracking some parts down. This is what I am planning on replacing: Bracelet. Bezel and Bezel Insert. Hands. (only the minute hand needs replacing, but probably best to swap them all out for lume consistency) I have a source for the bracelet, but the rest is posing a problem. The dealer I got the watch from sells a 007 Commemorative watch that would make a suitable donor for the bezel and hands, but, given the flaws of this watch, relying on that watch being any more accurate would be a gamble (and a costly one if it was as inaccurate) I've seen Ofrei.com, but, am not paying more for the parts than an entire new rep would cost, so I was wondering if anyone could steer me in the direction of some decent replacement parts? Any advise or help would be greatfully received.
  8. My Planet Ocean was not from Andrew or Joshua, and, to be honest, has several inaccuracies on the dial, but, it was a christmas present from my fiance, so I love it. A week ago, I was adjusting the time (+6 per day) and the crown just refused to screw back down, so I think the threads had stripped in the crown. I've sent it back to my dealer, and they've passed it onto their supplier, so now it's just a case of waiting
  9. I had this happen with the triangular marker on my Submariner, so I took it to a local jewellers to have it fixed. I'm glad to see that it's something that can happen to other watches as well, makes me feel less swindled, and more a victim of circumstance.
