Yes, truth will out.

Amigo, read the links to the newstory (verifed since): this hog was no wilder than a pussycat. And that idiot 'Chirstian-schooled' redneck kid - excuse me, that fine young Southern gentleman - had to keep pumping rounds into it for three hours before it died. Furthermore (as if any were needed), it ain't no wild boar: it's just a plain barnyard pig, a hog - y'all know what I mean here? 'Scuse me, but where do I vomit?
-
People keep trying to shoot it down, but they just never can.... TSTE: always one step ahead of the pack. http://very-bored.com/index.php?option=com...62&Itemid=1 (Just an excuse to link to the pics: I never knew that Death could look so beautiful...)

I agree. This thread just plain sucks.

Man, that's awful!

Interesting name, but I'm not sure all that would fit on a dial, HighDef...

Like they say, don't try this at home

Personally, I'm sending the good folks down there a word or two of encouragement: http://www.lostcreekplantation.com/ http://www.lostcreekplantation.com/contactus.html

Man, what a bunch of low-life white-trash f**ks... "The big boar was hunted inside a large, low-fence enclosure and fired upon 16 times by Stone, who struck the animal nearly a half-dozen times during the three-hour hunt." ...."From his treats of canned sweet potatoes to the how grandchildren would play with him, their stories painted the picture of a gentle giant. The even talked about how their small chihuahua would get in the pen with him and could come out unscathed." Need one repeat it? Pigs are friendly, gregarious animals, generally as or more intelligent than large dogs. This one was raised as a pet and then hunted and shot (for three hours) by this bunch of degenerate gene-pool waste. Time for me to start hunting down some email addys - starting with the jerks at the hunting lodge...

No way to treat a pet: I feel sorry for the guy (the pig, not the kid). More discussion: http://terriermandotcom.blogspot.com/2007/...ow-big-pig.html Poor Fred - They done shot him dead: http://www.annistonstar.com/showcase/2007/...d-7f01i1244.htm

Would look interesting on a Patek Calatrava I wonder if they do special orders.... -
I think it's clear by now that it's all Bush's fault.

Yes, but that doesn't seem to be the case here....put "Emerich Meerson" into the search window of the watch list and you'll get the auction in question - which still seems to be going on. But try to find it in the iist itself and it doesn't appear. Thanks for your input, but personally I still don't get it.

This auction is starting to drive me crazy.... (see 'Insane ebay bidding war' thread in Auctions Scams sub-forum for rest of story).... I've been following the auction of an Emerich Meerson watch on ebay. At present, the bidding ends in less than than one hour. http://cgi.ebay.com/EMERICH-MEERSON-WATCH_...1QQcmdZViewItem but when I try to find it in the entire list of watch auctions (ending soonest), there's no reference: it simply doesn't appear in the time-frame it should. In fact, it doesn't seem to appear at all in the list. :cc_confused: http://jewelry.listings.ebay.com/Watches_W...ListingItemList Am I hallucinating more than usual today, have I lost my few remaining neurons, or what am I not getting about this?

Expensive cat-fight.... :pg_blossm:

I would have liked it a whole lot better at around a hundred bucks - which I believe reflects its actual market value as 'new old stock'. I'm not sure I follow what you mean when you state: 'As per variations on classic Manufacture model, only a Manufacture model is a Manufacture model to my eyes unfortunately.' If by (variations on) a 'manufacturer's model' you mean that this is some kind of a replica or cheap knock-off, I have to disagree: it is an authenitc marque and was designed by the owner, Emerich Meerson, who enjoyed a reputation for producing small runs of nicely designed watches (both mechanical and quartz) under his own name. While not considered great collectors' items in the West, the used pieces command quite decent prices in places like Japan (where these may be resold by the acquirer for considerably more than he's going to pay for them). Outside of speciality markets, however, I don't see anyone in his right mind paying over the hundred or so dollars I've already pegged this one at. As for trading this one for three (or even four) MBW's, I'd do it in a flash and without hesitation (if the handful of MBW's cost me the hundred or so bucks I've mentioned): MBW's - and even genuine Rollies do absolutely nothing for me! Like you say, it's all a matter of what you like, and sometimes there's just no accounting for taste.... :-)
-
Stefane, I can assure you that it's not such an ugly piece (at least in my eyes): it's kind of a subtle variation on the very classic Patek Calatrava Officer's model and actually looks quite good on the wrist. But I do agree that the price is insane - especially since I wanted the damn thing! I wonder if it will go to a thousand?
-
Rob, unless I'm mistaken, ebay's 'private bidding' feature kicks in automatically once the bidding rises above a certain dollar-level - I'm not sure that the seller has any free choice in this.... Correct me if I'm wrong? But one thing is sure: at least one of the same bidders is also running up the bidding on the woman's model: you can compare the anonymous profiles in each case and see the information match...

I usually don't post in this sub-forum (or anywhere else on RWG, other than in The Shortest Thread Ever, for that matter*), but I couldn't help being amazed at what's happening over here: http://cgi.ebay.com/EMERICH-MEERSON-WATCH_...1QQcmdZViewItem I myself was interested in acquiring this watch - I already have a smaller version, and it's a nicely-designed little piece. But...although I figured that it wouldn't go above a hundred dollars or so, several people seem to think that this quartz-powered gold-plated Patek-inspired watch created some thirty or forty years ago by an obscure French house is worth some serious bucks! When new, this watch originally sold for around one hundred and fifty dollars. It's never been considered a collector's item, and I'm wondering what the devil has gotten into the two main bidders.... As it stands, it could easily go to a thousand. Is this just a case of shill bidding (the seller has since added three other pieces of the same marque), or does somebody know something I have yet to figure out? (By the way, someone tried to sell a decent used version of the same a few weeks back on the bay and couldn't get even one bid ) (*Please don't post there: we're trying hard to keep it as short as possible. Thank you for your cooperation!)

Ok, now that's we've determined that it's all Bush's fault, let us proceed to even pithier matters: The Shortest Thread Ever is getting totally out of control. If we can't can't stop it - or at least slow it down, what kind of a future will we be leaving to our kids? What will you say when the little snots ask you, 'Daddy, what did you do to fight The Shortest Thread Ever...?' As part of this concerned member's never-ending quest to limit its ceaseless growth, I'm submitting a radical new method of reducing superfluous content. It is to be hoped that other, more skilled members will find a way to adapt this ingenious technique to TSTE. To the courageous person (or persons) willing to take up the challenge, allow me to wish you all success in this noble endeavor! http://pajamasmedia.com/2007/05/lose_weigh...th_new_phot.php

Sounds perfectly logical to me... It's all Bush's fault. C'mon people, all together now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCP2YV6Jge0
