  1. Just to ease some concerns here, I'm not from US nor EU, as the matter of fact I don't believe the are any fellow countryman here, not active ones afaik, but I'll leave it as that.

@Tom and all the other neysayers: I've been a member of this site for 4 months and posted regularly, some useful posts and some total bs just for fun. Pardon me for being prolific and loving this place. Being 4 months on a forum doesn't make me an idiot, I know who I buy from and know how this "business" works. If you find this thread useless your are more than welcome to move along, I'm sure you can find other useful threads here. The sole purpose of my original post was to warn members and allow everyone to learn from my bad experience about dealing with dealers, not to start a witch hunt on any one of them. As I said earlier, if you are interested I'm more than willing to share information with anyone via PM, just as I shared it with one of the Admin team members, when this saga has started a few weeks ago.

@cougar Yeah, I couldn't believe my eyes. It was as if "Note to Customs:Suspicious Package" written with big red bold letters all over it. :sigh:

@Adeodatus - Sharing your experience, specially with what you went through took courage...and as Ronin stated is one of the reason why were here. Granted you will share the info when requested. But not entirely fair for the rest of the members...specially new members when this thread become stale.....The whole point of dealer review is to specifically address this and for future buyers (old and new) to know and get the chance to be specific in shipping details instead of a broad stroke affecting the rest of the dealers....and this helps to avoid the same witch hunt that you are trying to prevent. It just baffles reason for protecting this dealer.

  2. Hey all,

Been a while since I've posted. I sent a watch back to a dealer for some issues about 2.5 months ago (sent it only with a customs number - which lets me track it to the point it left the USA, but not after, because getting tracking would cost $42). He says he hasn't received it (I check in about once a week with him). Am I [censored] out of luck, what can I do? It was a minor fix. I should've forked over the $42... better than losing out on $300.

Has anyone been in this situation? What have they done for you?

    Thanks for your help.

Yeah you should have forked out that $42 for tracking because now you can expect to continue to get the same response.....With tracking, you can say 'buddy, the tracking update says it was received' and buddy can't deny it.

I'm all for ranting, it cleans the throat and clears the mind. But I gotta ask: was there a direct attack on any of you guys or the whole team?

I get the overall impression that you guys are enormously well respected. The occasional criticism is usually directed at specific decisions you guys have to take; and everyone understands they're not easy ones to take.

The team's respect and credibility is based not only on the fact that you guys have seemingly been around forever. It stems from your willingness to discuss openly, accept criticism and act only after reflection and based on hard facts.

I've followed the SQL discussion. Edge criticised what he thought was lack of action, Offshore did the same (based on a former disagreement I guess). You guys answered and acted after collecting all the facts AND after SQL could defend himself. That is not the easy route but it's the right one. And I bet my WM9 Sub that the large majority of people here understand and respect this.

Now if some punk comes around and still is not satisfied with the actions you take as a team let them. That's just a ripple in the ocean.

Thanks for doing a great job here guys.

    Have a nice day, all.

    Val.

I agree with Val. And as a former admin myself it annoyed me to see the criticism...there are a lot of things that go on in the back ground. Not sure if the RWG team did a post mortem. You guys handled it well...collected info and made a decision. My 2 cents for next time, if I may, would be to set the expectation of when an action will be done. I think it would help to communicate this.

  4. Thank you for the Welcome but the back is confusing. Have not been here before. wat44 must be thinking of someone else. Anyway, I like and I think that I will stay!

  5. I think if you lift the plate and gears and if you need so, elongate the pins for the dial or build some support points for it and then make a date overlay then you will solve this issue, I will prefer to get a low beat case, believe me I will buy it on the spot even for 3 times his price!( I have eta7750 movement, dial, handse, DWt all GEN), but there are none available, polexpete had a nice solution too drilling the hole in the case but I´m not such a good driller myself ;-) I´ll try this mod with Domi and I will let you know how it goes.

Do you or Domi know if the mod to fix the sunken datewheel can be applied to the Navitimer World?
