  1. I just ordered a rep from China and I was suprised to get an e-mail saying that I would be receiving a set of mini speakers. Remove the screws from the speaker and the watch would be inside.
  2. Glad to have found this forum. I have been a watch guy for quite along time but never got into reps. Didn't know that they had become so nice. I have owned several Rolex and Omega watches. At the moment all I have is a Sandoz ETA Sub and a XL Hamilton Khaki. I want a nice watch but hate to spend thousands again. Just the thoughts of damaging or lossing a $3000 watch is scary. I have ordered my first rep., an Omega PO 42.5mm. I think it is a 4th generation, I was just confused over why it was more expensive than the new 45mm Ultimate PO. If I can learn how to take these rep. Subs apart, I want to get a vintage Sub with the riveted band, age the dial and bezel, grind off the cgs and dull the stainless. I'd love to get a comment like "dang that's an old Sub".
  3. Yes I ordered it from brand9avenue. It hasn't arrived yet but tracking says its close. Not sure if I'll buy from them again or try one of the sellers I have read about here. I'm affraid these reps could become an addiction. I have a habit of getting carried away. My rep. wishlist: 1. Omega PO w/black bezel 42.5 mm (ordered) 2. Rolex nodate Sub (vintage w/ yellowed markers) 3. Omega GMT in black (old style) 4. Rolex Seadweller 5. Omega Seamaster (blue bond style-the classic)
  4. Ok, I just noticed that the pics of this watch are the same as the 4th generation pics on trustys site. I guess I'm just confused over why the ultimate is cheaper than the 4th generation. I assumed because it was more expensive, it was nicer or newer. I ordered one to wear daily. I am just afraid of the larger one, I want it to be comfortable and not in the way.
  5. Last night I was thinking, what Rolex rep. would pass at a glance just based on the model and not so much quality. As I said before, to me some models scream "replica". For me, I think it would be a vintage GMT rep. but with a jubilee band. I chuckled at the one post I read here about the construction worker seen wearing a gold Sub. Yeah, I bet that was real...not.
  6. Oh yeah, I've been checking websites like Wo-mart and TTime. How do I spot a Noob? Is that what they call it?
  7. As Borat would say "Nice". I can't get over how great these reps have become. Especailly some of the cheaper ones. I remember seeing el-cheapo fakes that would make you guys cry you'd laugh so hard. Stick on crown, too small, junk movement, rolled band....yuck. One thing I think is pretty clear. If you think you are buying a swiss ETA movement, it may or may not be. I seem to think most are ETA knock-offs made in China. If I get into this stuff like I do everything else, I'd like to age an old Sub rep. Take off the cg and age the dial, bezel and hands more. Over the years I've "frankenwatched" quite a few manual watchs that I bought at the flea market. My current hobby is restoring "Smith-Miller" brand toy trucks, but unfortunately I know have about 1 of everyone ever made. Time for a new hobby, this could be it.
  8. Ok, this may sound dumb but when I had my genuine Sub nodate, I heard that the case of a nodate (and GMT) was thinner than a sub date model. Are the nodate reps thinner as well or just in a date model case? If the nodates are crap, I'll just get a noomariner?? or a "so called perfect" even though I don't like the date. Come on guys..I'm ready to order..help!!
  9. Me again. This rep. stuff is all new to me, but it seems like a good idea. Like I said in the previous post, I smacked my old genuine Sub hard against a concrete wall, it didn't take it so good. It was an older model (5513 I think) with the plexi crystal. I felt lucky that my "Rolex guy" gave me $800 trade in towards a ss datejust. The crystal, bezel and hands were all ruined. It was pretty screwed up, wish I had pics. I have been wearing a Sandoz with an ETA movement for the past 5 years with NO problems. So I thought that an ETA Rolex sub. would be just fine for me. Here's the one that really reminds me of the one I used to have. http://brand9avenue.com/catalog/product_in...dc5e4c0d52bb5bc I really want your input. What is the best nodate Sub (vintage or not) out there?
  10. I understand that the "ultimate" is 45mm. I guess what I meant to ask is "is this 42.5mm watch listed at brand9avenue a better rep. than the 45mm ultimate?" I have heard that the ultimate is really nice, I just don't want another Breitling Hercules if ya know what I mean.
  11. I am looking to buy a 42.5mm PO rep. I found one on "brand9avenue.com" that I understand to be better or a newer rep. that the "ultimate". I have read the reviews here but the way they list this has me a bit confused. Is this a 5th or 6th gen.?? http://brand9avenue.com/catalog/product_in...dc5e4c0d52bb5bc
  12. I am a long time Rolex fan. I have had 1 Sub, 2 DJs, and a 50s Oy. Perp. But it's been about 10 years since I have owned a genuine. Back then $1200-$1500 would get you a nice pre-owned Sub or even a 2 Tone DJ. Now, the prices are just out of my reach (plus having that much money on my wrist kind of freaks me out-I whacked one against a block wall once ) so I desided to get a replica this time. Rather than a 50th anv. or a Red Sub. (that screams "replica" to me), I desided to check into a nodate Sub. I found a "Vintage Nodate" at Brand9avenue that has a stainless band (not the military style). What is your opinion of this watch vs. a nodate sub from Wo-mart. Or any other suggestions on a nodate Sub. I value your input and opinions. Predfan2001
