My best advice is to visit a Neurosurgeon or Orthopaedic surgeon but make sure the man/woman you see is the very best. Mine said to me straight up "Ken your manual work life is over, accept that before we move on" then when asked about the negatives of fusion surgery he said "paraplegia or you might die on the operating table". He discounted drugs as an answer and also the exercise programs handed out by chiropractor's, he said to me to get out there and walk and when you can walk then also swim. He was so passionate about getting people mobile again that he actually yelled at me when I turned up 6 months later still sporting a walking cane. So today I am by no means fit in fact I am quite a bit over weight but I can walk for miles and swim to London and.....I am basically pain free. A lot of mornings I will still have back pain but a quick hot then cold shower will fix that and the strongest drug I take for pain is Panadol. Ken
