  2. So in your case, you had a ladies YM with Joe, and maybe some other work as well. Due to all the crap I had to endure from offering to work on a RBJ "masterpiece", I decided to make my life easier, and blocked/banned anyone who ever delt with Joe or supported him. It was a decision I had to make, given the crap he was sending my way, everytime I exposed his awful workmanship and snake oil services.

Well, I'm sort of an innocent victim here. Yes, I had my wife's Yachtmaster out with Joe because the bezel was loose, and he tightened it. It took almost a year to get the watch back. However, she inadvertently wore it in the shower and we never could get rid of the moisture, so we gave up on it.

The Yachtmaster I am now referring to is a new watch and has entirely different problems, and I would very much like you to repair it. I wouldn't send it to RBJ because I don't want to wait another year and make constant phone calls and send E-mails to induce him to return it.

  3. Hi The Zigmeister, i really need your help.. i want to get my breitling steelfish superocean relumed.. but the only ones i know that can do them is you.. however i lost your website and your contact detail.. and i tried pming you but it says that you're not taking pms.. so can you please reply to this thread or pm me if you are not busy..? thanks very much The Zigmeister :)

I'm having the same problem! :wounded1: My wife's Yachtmaster needs repair, and I can't seem to contact The Zigmeister after a number of attempts.

  4. It is very hard, and getting harder to find a watchmaker anywhere...

Where there used to be dozens of watchmaking schools in Canada, today there are none...I only know of a "Jewellers" course in the whole country, and it's 22 months of jewellery work, and 2 months of how to change a battery...

Those that have gone to professional schools, or are self taught (like me), tend to either work for a large company, or have their own business and are kept very busy with local genuine work (waiting times up to a year I have heard in some cases).

So finding someone who is actually competent at fixing mechanical watches, is far and few between. In my city of 300K people, I think there are 2-3 real honest to goodnest watchmakers...

The Zigmeister: How does one reach you? I have tried several times to send a PM and received the message: "The member has chosen not to be contactable by the board messenger."

  5. You say behaviour, others say state. You're saying there's a choice involved, others say there isn't. Bigotry is not entertaining the possibility that it might be biological, because you know best.

Good Lord, did I imply that homosexual thoughts, ideas, or urges were a matter of choice or that the condition might not be biologically determined? I thought that I specifically referred to "behavior." Can you imagine judging people's morality by their urges, however biologically determined? I've even had the urge to steal. Civilization consists of controlling and channeling socially destructive urges. It would be bigoted to judge people by their states of mind or emotions, but having a moral sense results in approving of some actions and disapproving of others.

  6. Warburg, I'm just a newbie, and somehow my words were what inflamed this thread into something which were not intended.

Even so, I'd like to ask, no to plead with people for this thread not to descend further than what it has, by posting our opinions about homosexuality (or politics, religion, anything outside of the context of rep watches).

If we do, it could be visceral, never-ending, and frankly, silly.

There is, although I haven't checked because I have never found a need to chat OT on a forum before, an "Off Topic" area on this site, yes?

I suggest that if we want to discuss these contentious topics, that we do so there. We're here mostly to have fun. Let's do so. :)

I wasn't aware of posting any opinion about homosexuality, politics, or religion. What I thought I was doing was criticizing some of the politically correct, high-minded moral judgments that pour out whenever someone even implies that he is less than totally accepting of homosexual behavior or any other kind of behavior.

i started this thread with watch content. while gavin newsom may not be as well known around the world as he is in california, a quick google search would have given context. that happens to me all the time when the european members post about footballers. it also happens to me all the time on the formula 1 section on BBC 606.

the young mayor has been photographed wearing a base pam, a ti pam, and a gold FM. so he is obviously something of a watch aficionado.

instead my thread gets hijacked by homophobes?

i was very curious as to what that watch was. it seems to be ok to ask about watches in obscure television shows, but asking about a watch i saw leads to homophobia and gay bashing?

i am not upset about homophobia because my sister is gay. i am upset about it because it

  8. not sure about others, but i've been having a blast with my $300-400 reps of $5-10k watches :Jumpy:

when the rep has a quality ETA movement and is barely discernable from the real thing, i just can't reasonably make myself spend an extra $1,000 just so i can rest easy knowing its a genuine breitling. in my mind, what is there really to worry about? we get better (and cheaper) aftermarket service from our collectors than lots of ADs.

    just my $0.02,

    deltatahoe

I agree. I recently bought a BCE rep with the Swiss 7750 movement for over $600. This is admittedly a great deal of money for a rep, but the genuine would have cost in the neighborhood of $4,000, and that is another league for me. :whistling:

  9. I have never seen an automatic that didn't work this way , it's perfectly normal !

My Seiko Black Monster with the day and date starts to change around 10:45 and finally makes it over at around 1:30 ...

    Again perfectly normal !

    Zed

Well, next time I'm still awake around 11:30 and wearing an automatic (I'm 76 years old) I'll take a close look. I really never noticed this before. :whistling:

  10. I have a Chronomat Evolution with the Swiss 7750 movement. Everything is OK except that the date begins to change slowly around 11:30 PM and the change isn't completed until after midnight. I suppose that there is some kind of problem here, but don't know if it's worth repairing.

  11. You can contact The Zigmeister here through private messaging. You might not be able to do it right now because he mentioned taking 2 weeks off in April.

When I tried to do that I got a pop-up box saying that the rexipient had chosen not to accept private messages. :wounded1:

  12. lol

okay, that is not a gen. the insert lettering is WHITE and it lips, the rehaut is too shallow, the cgs are too fat, and overlap the crown, the dial is purple, the sides of the bracelet are dull.

I wrote to te seller and he replied that he would send me the registration number of the watch and I could take it to a Rolex dealer. In reply to that I said that this would be easy for me since I live in New York, close to the Rolex building, which is true. So far I have not heard from him again. :whistling:

  13. I asked Eddie Lee a question about the differences between the Asian and Swiss 7750 movements in the BCE and, as usual, received an answer couched in his usual cryptic style in about 20 minutes. Do not send PMs; he rarely reads them. Use his e-mail address: sunshine300@shaw.ca.

  14. that rep has been out of production for a long time, and the last version was an awesome rep.

i had the SS (fantasy) model and it did have the HE valve, and it worked. so did the older ti model i believe? it seems strange that they would remove the HE valve and leave the caseback engraving wrong at 300m, not 3000m

it would be odd for them to bring it back and change that?

but the last one i saw sell did go for almost $400 due to being out of production ;)

Don't all the Breitling reps have 300m? My BCE has this also. Are you sure 300m is wrong?
