  1. As stated before... everyone should be free to express his opinion about another member if it's not offending... sometimes this isn't very easy for some of us... we have to keep in mind that a lot of us aren't native english speakers and have some language problems...

If all of you have to post in your second or third language you learned for some years in school, i'm sure some troubles are only based on the language problem... same could be by using the word "scam" it could have different meanings to the ones using it.

This is a good point. It would be helpful if members had the opportunity to identify their nationality (If they chose to do so) with their screen name, as in the old RWG. This could be in the form of a word or flag symbol.

  2. wouldn't it be better to try and get a response from Joe before this thread goes on and on? I assume he would like to tell his side of the story..

Good Lord! Have you actually read the posts on this thread? Most of us have tried to get a response from Joe, by E-mail and by phone, and we have all been unsuccessful. Except for the divergences into whether Joe does good mod work or whether mod work is worth doing, that's what this thread is about. If Joe wanted to respond he would already have done so. P only wonder if there isn't someone who knows Joe personally and could give us a more informed idea of what is going on?

  3. This thread has really gotten out of hand! Apparently Joe did one or two mod jobs that didn't satisfy some members, and his approach to solving their problems didn't satisfy them either. So what? The number of posts testifies to the fact that dozens of members have dealt with Joe and are quite happy with his work, regardless of cost. The band separated on a a fun "Frogmariner" that my wife gave me as a birthday present, and the watch fell of my wrist and was dented and scratched. I sent it to Joe who took a month to repair it and charged almost as much as the watch cost. Nevertheless, the watch looked perfect, and I am more than content with the transaction. :) I next sent Joe a lady's TT Yachtmaster with a loose bezel. That was about a month ago. I never received an acknowledgement that he received it, and there has been no response to my E-mails.

This is the real problem members are now having with Joe. :brow: It's not whether he does good work or what he charges; we all know the quality of his work and we know what he charges for it, and most of us find both acceptable. Joe has indicated that he is having health problems, and this certainly deserves consideration. Nevertheless, he should make an effort to communicate with people whose watches are in his possession and give them some idea of where they stand. If the board administrators can communicate this to him, it would be very helpful. :)

    :g:

Can it be hacked so as to remove the Xmas theme only?]

Good Lord! Why would anyone want to end Christmas? There seems to be a good deal of wishful thinking about the real RWG. I just posted there again It isn't down; it will go on forever. :D

  5. The point I am getting impressed upon me from those waiting is simply this:

Whatever the whole story is - it doesn't change the experience of those who are brave enough to stand up and state their concerns here. What is unfortunate is that people are scared to step up and ask questions, without the fear of being flamed from here to kingdome come...

I have never understood this mentality, if we cant' ask questions and get answers, then what's the point. No one is above common courtesy and openess...yet some get jumped on if they dare ask a question about certain members....strange...

Trust is earned based on performance and ability to stand by your word, not by how many posts you have, or how long you have been on the forum...

    RG

I don't think most of us are afraid of being flamed, but we don't want to damage the reputation of a person who has always been honest and reliable and is now ill. Nevertheless, we seem to agree that better communication from Joe is in order.

  6. Yep, I'm tired of communicating and waiting for that ETA LV. I gave up. If I get it back great,, if not, charge it to experience.

I'm not sure if you guys are joking or not. I've had my wife's Yachtmaster with Joe for about a month now. He has not responded to my E-mails. If he is not well it's certainly understandable that he is behind with his work. The problem is that he seems to communicate with some people and not with others.

  7. There are quite a few replicas with centered date wheels...

    I have some...

Mis-alignment bothers me as well, mostly in off center markers...

Not because of what other people think.. but because I have to look at the

watch.. and want it.. like a child of mine, to be as perfect as it can be.. :)

Well, there are people who want their children to be perfect replicas, and they are almost invariably disappointed. :p

  8. :yucky: :yucky: :yucky:

The last couple of watches I purchased had the date too high or too low in the date window. Again, what do I expect for a couple hundred bucks is not the main issue. I would be happy to pay an extra $10 to make sure the date is centered in the date window. The problem is compounded on Rulexes because the cyclops makes the bad date look bigger and usually the cyclops is also misaligned. Nothing spells FAKE more than a bad looking date on a watch. Even an idiot knows that a $4000 Rulex should have a centered date. It's to the point now that I'm afraid to buy a Rulex with a date. This is my biggest pet pieve with reps.

    :yucky: :yucky: :yucky:

    My rant is over!!!

:g: Anyone else been having this issues? Seems to be happening more and more lately.

Yes. it's true; the question is how much does it really matter? If you look at Thor's comparison of a genuine vs. rep. LV Sub (cc/members/index.php?showtopic=4135), the first pictures, which show the entire watches, make it clear that only a near-sighted person who holds them a couple of inches from his eyes would be able to discern any difference. How many of us encounter people who would do this, or would even be able to do this? Reps and originals will never be identical, but for most of us this will really not be of much concern.

  9. Like the title says I paid too much $900 for a "swiss" replica Submariner LV from Idealwatches.

I realize now I paid too much and there's nothing I can do, but I love the watch.

After looking around here a bit I was wondering if I got a cheap replica or a decent one.

My digital camera sucks or I would post pics.

Anyone else got a Submariner LV from Idealwatches?

It doesn't matter whether you post pictures of your watch or not. $900 is too much for an LV Sub rep., no matter what the quality. You can buy four excellent watches of this kind from Eddie Lee, Joshua, River, and other dealers on this forum for $900.

Almost all of us made this kind of mistake before we found RWG, so chalk it up to experience and move on. :)

  10. A tourbillon is a very complicated movement and to be honest I'd doubt the rep makers have mastered the art of making a reliable tourbillon. (Look at the Asian 7750) There are people who have experienced failures on these movements. (And you can't repair it because there are no parts available)

I do own one of those tourbillons, It's running fine but it's a 'special occasions only' watch.

Well, I was aware of statements to this affect on this board, so before I ordered I communicated my reservations about the rep tourbillon to Eddie Lee. He maintains that the movement is very reliable. He has sold 40 of these in the past two years and has had no reports of problems, so I thought I'd take a chance.

Given the design of this Chronoswiss model, I think it will be a special occasions watch anyway. :)

  11. well it should be a nice and good rep...but in case something goes wrong you will have big problems in getting it repaired...

Yes, that has occurred to me. The only hope would be to find skilled watch repair person on boards such as this one. Of course, I'm 75 years old, so it's a question of which of us is more likely to go first.

  12. No I don't think there is a new version out for now, dial appears still flawed to me...

Soon maybe will see the Santos 100 chrono using a 7753, with date pushers @ 10 ;)

What are the flaws in the dial? What's wrong with the "Swiss Made"?
