Tempus Machina does incredible work. The attention to detail is something special. Much better than other modded modern Rolexes IMHO. Using real relief gilt dials and custom made dome crystals for example. Truly unique and super cool modern vintage fusion pieces.

Would love to see their interpretation of the 6542.

6542 would probably throw it at 116719 with the WG case or use aftermarket Pepsi bezels and a regular 116710 maxi case. :p

I have to agree mate, I'd he highly interested too.

High-end frankens all the way. I'd rather have the satisfaction of 1) sourcing parts for and building my own watch; there's a certain emotional attachment and sense of achievement from putting together something yourself, and 2) getting to actually wear whatever watch I please, and appreciate it to the fullest. All while not completely worry about taking it out of a safe for fear of hurting its value like some of these overly-precious gens and their are artificially-inflated perceived value.

As the astronomical prices climb even higher, the spirit of these well-loved and actually used/worn Franken builds is much more in tune with what the true, original spirit of the "tool watch" was the first place: watches that were meant to be worn (and perhaps worn hard) for use with a specific purpose in mind. There's a part of me that laments the fact that some of these storied timepieces are now relegated to a life locked away in a dark place for safe-keeping, only to see the day of light when being passed from one millionaire's safe to another's, to once retreat back into the shadows...

There's a reason why Joanne Woodward engraved the back of Paul Newman's Daytonas, and the inscription sums it up perfectly. And it certainly didn't say "Put This Away for Safe Keeping"...

This is interesting... so what is the Yuki? Is it a refurbished Rolex or is it a clone? If it's a clone, then whey is he the only one with it?

The yuki 3135 is a full gen spec clone of the Rolex Cal 3135.

Whilst the SA3135 isn't really gen spec it just operates like a 3135, the yuki is fully gen spec so any gen 3135 parts can be fitted on it.

  4. Guys, clasp code says Z series 93153 bracelet. Z series = '97 - '98. It's basically impossible to get SUCH a stretch on a bracelet in such time.

Also the things I've pointed out above still apply. This one ain't gen.

Compare it to other (way older) clasps. The sharpness of the Rolex wave on the clasp and the engravings is so off. I could post additional pics to clarifiy that if you guys wish.

Also the ref code on the bracelet should be sharper. I've also seen way older and way more damaged bracelets that had sharper writing.

    Trust me.. ;)

I agree with Qtip, if you are wanting a 16610, about the only realistic alternative is to build one. The weak link is the bracelet. Almost every one has a huge tell, the mid link part of the end link on the genuine is gold, so the exposed sides are gold. The rep bracelets have a plated or wrapped S/S mid link that is not gold on the sides, so the S/S is exposed. Mymanmatt has a solution for that problem, at least he did with mine. The bracelet not withstanding, you can build a really nice 16613 using gen dial, insert, crown and, aftermarket 18k bezel,

Care to explain what MMM did to it? Replate? Only other possible way coming to my mind is a WM9 bracelet which had full covered SELs..
