Travelling on to GZ from Thailand - where you are totally spoilt for food & drink - (as I always do) you definitely have to keep reminding yourself that this isn't some hellish afterlife you've descended into where for punishment there's no readily available culinary delights and the beer is warm & appalling.
China is the epitome of reverse engineering, yet they can't produce finer tasting beer.
-
haha, one of my favorite things about Guangzhou watch market is the fresh corn cobs (2RMB)and bananas (1RMB) they sell for 30 and 15 cents each, how did u miss that in the pictures of the streets??
I dont remember the street vendor foods in GZ. However the biggest thing I remembered about my trip is that China has the worst beer ever. Anything imported is a million times better...
-
Sweet! Thanks! Do you need to file E29B document to make sure they know that I didn't just buy the watch from either country. I certainly don't want to get taxed on it neither
Negative. I've carried a spare watch/strap/tool in a watch case without any issues. Never been asked to see it. Again, people don't care.

I travel a bit for work and never have any issues with my watches. Like Greg_R said, nobody cares. I usually wear mine thru the metal detectors and have never been asked to take it off. You'll be fine

I've been to all the centers in the GZ watch district and there isnt much to find other than your average canal street stuff. They have cleaned up alot as the local govt is starting to regulate the industry. I would recommend emailing/contacting a dealer beforehand, otherwise you wont find anything unless you speak Mandarin.
As for the watch district, there are 4-5 main centers. They are all structured like a indoor swapmeet but each individual booth is an "Independent Watch Broker".
This is the main intersection. If you head left, it'll lead you to the subway (1/4 mile) and the EMS center (the one that all the GZ dealers use LOL). The building behind me to the right (which isn't in the picture) is where I found most of my tools (up the stairs, immediate right, end of row) I think I still have my receipt if you need the booth #. They sell rep Bergeon tools and are pretty inexpensive. I walked out with pretty much everything I needed for less than $20usd. Just to the right of the picture is a pretty decent sized center to find more crap. On the upper left corner where you see the big clock on the building is another center. I think it's about 4-5 stories...I didnt venture up all of it because of all the cigarette smoke throughout the levels...and smoking is legal everywhere. There is also a side street there (the no right turn sign). That's a whole other street with more crap.....
More crap with lots of crap. This is the famous center that an old school member had posted in his review.
Another view of the street:
Inside the centers:
Outside another watch center along the main street:
If you are looking for accessories, you will find everything possible on the main st (first picture). Just walk another 1/4 down and that's where all the rep glasses, purses, jeans, shirt, underwear, hats, shoes!!, etc are. I spent 2 days in the district and didnt even get to see everything. I hope this gives you a 3D/live view of the intersection. Have fun!!

The case looks good. I'm sure with your skills, you won't have any issues with drilling the other side. Can't wait to see the finished piece if you decide to go forward with it.

See you guys in a bit

I'm house poor living off instant noodles, boxed potatoes, and tap water but I have a great selection of watches!!
All kidding aside, I've seen some pretty impressive stuff on younger kids here in Socal. They like to bling.....

Great work as always T

How does the yobo lume compare to the original Seiko lume?
Also for the dial, I have seen Yobo's photobucket page but does he have a webstore or something that shows his dials?
For the strap, was that a 24mm strap you cut a bit to fit the lugs on the Seiko?
Replied to your PM
:o wooow this is awesome!! where you got the strap from?? looks perfect on the monsterPurchased the strap from Bob @ www.broadarrow.net. It is a Maratac Elite strap. 24mm width notched to 20mm at the ends.
The best thing is that it's only $20 bucks!!

Nice, CC! Better watch out though - Those customized Seiko dive watches can become an addiction themselves...
HA!!.... I'm already hooked...

Thanks D. All pieces were purchased from Yobokies and Avitt matched the blasting on the buckle.

Hello RWG,
I have been away busy with work but had some time to snap some pictures of my latest piece. Since there haven't been any reps that have interested me lately, I needed to fill my void. I was looking for a REAL beater with a workhorse movement that will suit my outdoor activities.
For less than $300usd, this was created.
Seiko CC Destro Monster:
Aluminum Oxide Bead Blasting (to resemble Titanium)
2nd coat fine Glass Bead Blasting (to smooth out the finish)
Yobo Dial
Yobo Chapter Ring
Plongeur Black Hands with Orange Tip
Destro with crown at "10"
Maratac Elite Strap
Avitt Blasted Heroic Buckle
Took the Monster for a spin today:
Thank you looking. What do you think?

I have had 4 Pams and misc pieces coated by Avitt. All perfect as he IS a perfectionist. You should see his workbench....all top notch gear. I would definitely recommend DLC coating by Avitt.
