  1. Well, maybe... Lay is supposed to be based in Malaysia but is usually in China, where the watches are sold. Who's to know?
  2. Robert doesn't like everyone. I've had good watches from him and bad watches. He is incredibly quick now. He does have some unique pieces.
  3. As you probably know, he offers free "waterproofing" and testing for watches that cost more than $150 (I think). Whoever does the "waterproofing" isn't screwing the casebacks back on, apparently. I always check them nowadays anyway. Still, a great watch.
  4. Arrived in record time, on a federal holiday even. USPS wasn't running on Monday but the watch came via DHL. There's a first for everything. Nicely done. Big, but not real thick. The black finish has some defects, shiny spots, but they're tiny. Watch has good lume which lasts all night with a good charge. Strap is actually pretty good for a rep, although too short. The dial is very reflective. The buckle is good, which makes me want to stay with a 26x22 strap. They're hard to find. Feels good on the wrist:
  5. This is my 3rd DeepSea. The first one has blocky, thick numbers on the bezel. The second was a V3 with an Asian-ETA. I modded the bezel numbers to make them thicker but kind of botched the job. This model is currently $88 from Replicamake, a dealer on RWI and RWG, plus shipping. It's well worth it. I have two complaints: the steel is filthy and the clasp-lock piece is cheapie. The steel will probably clean up nicely with the bike lube treatment. I hope. The clasp lock, I don't know. I've improved it some with some needle-nose pliers but it's still kind of floppy. But for $88? The lume is great and all blue. You can barely hear the rotor. The screws came out easy. The glidelock clasp works great. The bezel numbers looks V3; a little thin. The pearl is a big improvement over my previous versions: not zitty. The "1" on the 10 might be a little crooked. No big deal to me. See? Nice pearl: Beveled date window: Nice shiny watch: Seriously? $88?
  6. Replicamake is a dealer on RWI and RWG. His price was $328. Just got in today. I think it's been reviewed already, so I'll be brief. I unwrapped the watch and the case back fell off. Checked the gasket and found it greased, tightened the case back down. Supposed to be good to 50 meters now. I think I'll swim with my $88 Sub, though. My overall impression is that it is very well made. The 316F steel looks like the others, but I haven't had a chance to give the bracelet the bike lube treatment yet, which really cleans and shines the steel. Lume is very good for a rep. I'll give it the all-night test tonight. Some pics: As I was posting this pic I noticed the loose CG and tightened it up. Button that advances the date. It works, too. You'll be seeing this one in the wrist-check threads!
  7. Skyland, but now on an Ocean Racer:
