As we were talking about Bond movies, here a screenshot from "The Man with the Golden Gun". Quite unorthodox (from a Connery Bond purist perspective), yet very nice watch...

Hi DVNE, I did not take time to respond before (just thought I did...) but many thanks for info; I think that will be my next move forward.
-
My bad, I should have written "Tiger-Concept 5508" (as it was a response to sean's post, I thought it was obvious). But thanks for the precisions about the difference between 5508 and 5510.

Thunderball (1965) comes after Goldfinger (1964); in both, 007 use the RAF (not NATO) strap for his Big Crown. You'd better refer to Dr NO (1962) or From Russia with love (1963), if you're getting a dark brown leather strap. Speaking about components, follow DVNE advice about the dial. Having said that, you can get a "wider" dial and sand it (for instance Raffle's ones: from 29 to 28mm). To give you a hint, here's my 5508 with a Raffle's Dial and a brown leather strap I bought from a local shop (but there are still work to be done...). Good Luck

Txs dbane for the info, unfortunately I don't have any other case to sacrifice than the cheap rep I'm working one. I think, I'm going to work on the crown now
-
I'm quite interested, any tips about how to do that "properly" ?
-
Hi Gents, Just wanted to share with you my "collection": The Big Crown, I'm working on and the gen 5513 (circa 1987), offered by my mother

Txs Gents for your comments

Hi Gents, Txs Donerix 2.0 for your answer. I did use that method to begin and finish manually. I'm quite glad with the outcome:

Txs JoeyB and J.S. for your answers

Hello Gents ! Got the dial I ordered, today from the mail: Then I took apart the mouvement: and tried to fit the dial inside the case: Now have to sand the dial down from 29 to 28mm. If you have any advices, let me know cheers
-
Thanks for your message jelliotz, Will try to do that way, any advice for the sanding material ?
-
Hi Gents ! I just ordered this dial to - at least - start with : Vintage Submariner Bond Glit Dial for DG 2813 movement 29mm Yellow Lume
-
Thanks DVNE for your answer, "Why not try yuki's eta dial 28mm" Mainly because I'm looking for a 2 lines dial to match the reference. Secondly that dial is for cal. 2824-2/2836 and Tiger's is DG 2813 - but I'm not sure: it would not fit, right ?

Hi Gents, It's been more than a month now and I've been enjoying my Connery 007's rep. I put back the original metal strap but hadn't been able to find "the" dial... I guess, I'll stick with the Tiger one till I eventually find one that fit (I'm unable to sand it myself). Anyway, thanks again for your patience and all the knowledge you've shared with me. 'Till then, Ciao !

Hello Gents, Quite amazed by the photos; still learning a lot from you. Many Thanks

Hi martijnp, Well, I'm still looking for the "dial" and wanted to wear it (the watch) before I get it (the dial). At the same time, seems quite tricky to find a 28mm dial that would fit...
-
Hi Gents, It's been almost 2 weeks since I received my watch. I'm still looking for parts but also enjoying :
-
Hi Gents, I've heard from the tiger-shop : the Tiger-Concept 5508 uses a 28mm dial. Unfortunately, I've been unable to find a proper one for the mod I'm willing to do. Does anyone would know a different way than the TDs I mentioned ?
-
Txs Gents for your comments and the infos they provide. Good to learn about dial sizes possibilities. I'll ask Tiger about the V3 and if it is OK to implement a 28mm one. I'm trying to look for cheaper dials than Yuki's, though. So I'll keep on looking. The crown work will be thought later on, I think.

Ok Gents, something I did not precise in my previous posts : It's going to be a budget mode. Eventough lukenorris movement seems - and probably is - perfect for what I'm aiming at, I can't go this way as it is far beyond what I can afford. I've been around few forums since my original post and I ordered one Tiger-concept 5508 to start with. Then, I've been looking for "the" dial. Seems I'll have to go with a 27mm one to fit in the case - I've been looking at Yuki's, Ingod's and Raffles. The last one is quiet cheaper but would not fit as it is 29mm dials. to be continued
-
Txs for all your valuable comments ! I've just been in Parts Section - as mentionned by mada 1980 - to have a look at that gen movement ; seems very nice to start with (knowing that it comes with the big crown is even better). Now - as suggested, I need to look for the perfect dial and case ; still unsure about the gilt question...
-
I just ordered a Bond Strap from aliasmarlow : a 20 mm brushed strap. I know there have been discussion about the gen size and it seems that 16mm would have been the right one, but I was uncapable to find a reference (on the forum or outside) Anybody would have a tip about a 16 mm one ?
-
Txs JoeyB for your answer, I did read your post and the ones it's provided but I have more to learn; for once, I would like the mod I'm building to be waterproof (if it is doable and not too hard to do). Also i'm wondering about the dial: seems from the screenshot I took that it is not that "gilty" ...? and as you wrote: "the key is the dial"
