  1. Those last dial shots remind me good times...
  2. Hi Gents, I've been looking around but need some advices, looking for a proper crown, I've found 2 @ Yuki : large tube http://www.yukiwatch.com/catalog/item/6784664/10276441.htm small tube http://www.yukiwatch.com/catalog/item/6784664/10289013.htm (not my favorite) But am unsure about the stem size and the tube hole (knowing that I'm not equipped to re-tap it) ; would any of you have any tip(s) to give me? or this one @ Raffles : http://rafflestime.com/signed-explorer-submariner-crown-for-eta-dg-1570-movement-6mm/
  3. Would that be the Sunburst Effect ? I think I know it's suppose to be subtle (if not, it screams "rep") but not sure where it comes from. Anyone can teach me ?
  4. Yes, actually I read a little bit further the original seller RWI thread and the movement was indicated as a7750…. just below the line where the reference to the mystery movement topic was pointed out… my bad. I don't even know the difference between the mystery and the a7750 movements but I think I read here and there that there are deeper case-back for the DW case allowing to adapt to the different movement calibers
  5. Well I really don't know much about those movements as I'm not familiar with them ; here, what is supposed to be the old thread : Old sale thread - http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?257893-FS-DW-ROLEX-6239-With-mystery-movement but I don't have access to it (not enough post @ RG)...
  6. Txs, Sadly, the vintage watsh shop (in Nancy, France) I got it from closed few months ago; I've had it for a long time (like 2 years) and wore it a lot; and it's french veal leather "double veau". The stitchings are very weel made (very thin).
  7. it worked well, time is properly set now. txs again Freddy Few shots in the morning:
  8. Freddy, that's perfect ! Thanks a Bunch ! Here's with the case-back open : From what I saw, it's not that much different than a sub movement, the time settings I mean... So from your pic that would be the one on the right wich is nearly horizontal?
  9. Thanks Gents for your answers, Two more questions : - the watch and chrono function are running fine, but movement is a bit "speedy" (I'd say 30sec+/d) ; is there an "easy" way to settle it or does that mean service ? ("easy" : I've a little experience in setting my 6538 and my 6200 - DG2813 and ETA2824 - but apart from those I don't know how to work with the one inside that watch - it seems to be one of the "mystery movement" DW series, i.e. the seller original sale thread @ RG and RWI - eventhough I was able to unscrew the case-back yesterday) - as you can notice, middle-case is a bit larger than the bezel on the crown and pushers side, even though bezel is perfectly aligned with the dial; is it expected with that kind of Daytona's ? As always, thanks in advance for your tips and knowledge sharing
  10. Hi gents, As some of you know, I've been hunting for one of those for a bit of time now and just wanted to share excitement and rejoice with you Just received this baby today ; the previous owner had a 700 Athaya crown and tube installed. Do you think/know if the tube will fit a proper 600 crown ?
  11. Yep, still very much in love... just swapped the insert
  12. Indeed, and to me that bezel coin edge profile is quite close to perfection compared to the many rep ones I've seen. Congrats rolojack
  13. Bajo el sol en una crica del Cap de Creus Cadaques...
  14. Holidays in the South of France are the best...and with a black NATO strap it's even better.
  15. My friend, besides your modding improvement your photo skills did also improved a lot!
  16. Thanks for your answers, Freddy, here are some pics that Bart sent to me when he was modding the case and bezel : Dlf, yes I remember I was lurking on your pics, that turning tip job for the lugs is really nice and that bezel... that's what I'm looking for : a taller and much more accurate coin edge profile. So you did use an HR bezel with a Silix case? By the way, what crystal is it (gorgeous)?
  17. Hi Gents, In my journey to get closer and closer to a proper BC rep, I'm looking for a good replacement bezel for the 6200/6538/5510 Silix case we are many to have used in our builds. I've been reading and re-reading many threads but did not find a good answer to that question. Would anyone have clues where to hunt it for or know of any infos/ressources related ?
  18. Hey Bart, Really nice CG's work, and I agree with you about hands Congrats !
  19. Thanks Mate! Indeed, it's a completely different watch now.
  20. Hi Gents, Once a wise man wrote that "it's all about the dial". And I have to say, the further I went learning about BC the stronger that stance became... at least to me. I had a long discussion with @Bart Cordell about his very good work on dial, case bevels, etc. So I asked him if he would take care of my Big. D's 6538 wich needed more work imo. And to make a long story short, this is the result: Specs : - 8mm V2 Athaya BC - Case reshaped and polished, beveled chamfers, rehault polished to make it deeper, - Bezel work: color and polished - hour and minute hands, sanded and relume to match the dial, Tiger-Concept Big Ball second hand. - True Gilt 2 liner super glossy dial (you have no idea what an improvment it is, as many had already stated, until you see/get one) - Sternkreuz Hw 306 dome crystal Bart was really dedicated to the modding process: he put a lot of time and efforts to get what I was precisely looking for. And that is really appreciable Cheers!
  21. Dr No (the first movie where the Big C appears) was shot during the winter in 1962, and went on screen, November, the same year. But you can't tell from that movie, as there are no close-up of the watch. The first real glimpse at it would be from FRWL (1963), and the dial seems "Gilt" (notice the contrast between radium indexes and literature): Then again, in Goldfinger and Thunderball (1964, 1965), the watch dial seems different (see the first pics I've posted) It sure would be nice to know more about SD different types during that period, anyone is welcome to chime in
