Hi Gents, As some of you may know, After getting a Big Daz 4 liner last summer, I've decided to transform the Tiger-Concept V3 case I've been modding. The ingredients : - a Clark's hand set, - a 6200 dial from HR - A seagull ST2130 (even if I know that a 28800 mvt is anachronic...) I still have to put the watch together but it looks good so far, at least imo
-
Actually, he wanted to but "only" bid 65K...

Hi Gents, Just to share an interesting video review of vintage Subs presented before an auction in Geneva, last november (en français): In this following pic, you can see side by side 6536 and 6538 profile:
-
that is close to what Big Dazza delivered 3 weeks ago... I'm converting this build in a 6204 or proper 5508 mod
-
Hi, actually try the first link; for T-C V3 case, choose 30.6mm. For V1 and V2 I could not tell.
-
We would need contribution of others members, because I can't tell the differences between 2 cases... that I've never seen...
-
Yep, that is why I've ordered and received the Clark's model you suggested, but Yuki hands came with Yuki dial so I did not really had a choice back then and it was a good way to practice aging and placement on a movement.
-
Another good add would be Yuki hands. He has both Rolex sized and ETA sized. I would be very interested to see those, and how they stack up. Here you are: Yuki ETA hands (Kime, feel free to use the photo for comparison):
-
For the V3 I'm using, I found some replacement crystal (see here) but not sure they'll fit yours
-
Well, I suppose that is doable but since Silix profile seems to be more faithful to the gen design, I don't see the point of doing so, unless you'd want to build a "small crown" model. In any case I think you can buy the midcase alone from the same watchmakers.

Admin, sorry for the mess, could you delete this thread (the one without photos) ?

Hi Gents, That is a comparison I've been looking for quite some time now. Adrian (Athaya) did that before, in an old post on HF but all the photos are now missing from the original thread, and mostly Tiger-Concept (T-C) case compared at that time was different (I bought mine in sept, 2014, branded as the "V3". Now William propose a V4 case for its builds). I spent some time this year trying to mod the T-C JB-5508 to get close to the 007 watch I was looking for, and have always asked myself: "is the mid-case really that thicker with other 6538 builds; with Silix builds ?" Very few days ago, I received one of the latest 6538-4 liner Big Dazza build (that I originally planned to offer to my father for his birthday but, under the tic-tac spell, decided to keep for myself... and find another gift for him). So, a few comparison shots : From the shots, obvious difference come from the thickness of the mid-case and the overall design. (the Silix is the one with the tallest crystal). You can also compare Silix and Rafflestime crowns. Another difference comes from the bezel shape and height: T-C one is taller than the Silix one. Both cases are not engraved. (Don't mind about the watches spring bar, I did not place them well for the photoshoot, but you can notice the drill lugs provided with Big Dazza build to accept 2mm/gen ones). One of the main difference is about case back: as you can notice, T-C JB5508 one has an "over-leap" case-back that put the entire case at the same "height" as the Silix more conventional case design. That is why from the table they are sitting on, both case seem as high as each other. I put back the insert provided with the original watch Now I'm thinking to mod the Tiger-Concept to a "proper" 5508 or 6204, or 6205, but I'm wondering were I could find "pencil" hands and that gorgeous second hand with the ball at the end, like the one Joey B did and presented on this forum sometimes ago (see for example the "Leiter" thread). Or it could become another BC, as I really love those... Any ideas/thoughts are very welcome: where could I find a 6204 dial? those "pencil" hands? Cheers!

Hi Gents, That's tremendous work, Kime. Many Thanks. As a matter of fact, I was thinking about changing the hour hand to the Yuki 28mm 4 liner dial I'm using; only thing would be to age the new hands to match the actual dial.

Answering myself: "Yes they fit, actually they look like exactly the same"

Hi Gents ! Nice to read so much debate about 007. The first picture used to introduce the subject is from Goldfinger, not from Dr No (Bond would have been wearing a "black tie" as he was returning from Le Cercle before departing for Jamaica to find out about Strangways). I'll go with Dbane theory, as I don't see British Intelligence Service taking advice from CIA and because we know the importance of Q - and in fact the "armourer" was the first one of them. As some of you know, NATO strap only came out in the early 70's, therefore the one from Goldfinger/Thunderball is often qualified as RAF strap to differenciate.

If I remember right, the Project X HS01 was also limited (60 units) and cost was 15,000 GBP, not that I would be willing to pay but when you compare with gen ones, you're looking at a 45,000€ wristwatch, and for one with serviced dial and hands (at least the one I saw in Paris) when the watch authenticity is secured. I even saw a 4 liner 6538, sold in geneva for more than 100,000...

Hi Gents, So here it is, anyone wich to order ? It would be great to see someone building a rep version
-
Hi Gents, Actually I contacted them by e-mail as I was wondering about availability and price, here is their answer: " Thank you for your interest. While pricing is not finalized, we are expecting to announce pricing and order availability within the next 2 weeks. You will be alerted, via email, with introductory pricing (expected to be in the mid $20k USD range) as well as procedures to place online orders as availability will be limited. Because each watch is hand crafted, including the dial refinishing, bezel, case shaping etc., production will be limited to 100 or less. "

HI, I really appreciate the photoshoot with the "breather". Your watch looks good, it's a "battlefield" one directly from the 60's.

Hi Gents, I'm looking for a new crystal. I went back in the thread to the post from DVNE but the bay-listing seems to be closed by sellers. I looked further and found this and that, from them : - http://www.ebay.com/itm/WATCH-GLASS-crystal-face-lens-Acrylic-plastic-28-2-40mm-BUY-1-GET-1-HALF-PRICE/201106786518?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140602152332%26meid%3D2dc7c38f520846c18b231f2432dfa98c%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D200994138552 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Domed-WATCH-GLASS-CRYSTAL-FACE-original-Vintage-Pocket-watch-glass-30-1-to-36mm-/201111926602?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item2ed334774a Do you think they'll fit? Should I be looking somewhere else ? By the way, I'm receiving a red triangle insert today, can't wait to put it on...

Hi Gents, Barely few words to describe the emotion: rehault, gilt,... sparkling...
-
That is indeed impressive... I mean, look at that glossy effect, at that rehault, that crown... "chapeau bas"
-
Have to say I've been hesitating about a HS01 rep for a time, but this one looks really better and much more "inspiré" as a revival approche of a modern Big Crown. Wonder about the price though... but I've been signing up for the newsletter...
