Yeah. I've heard there were improvements. I was thinking maybe that was why the yoke was different. One may be a gen 1 and the other a gen 2?

The yolk and most of the date works was terrible on my first-gen Yuki. I rebuilt most of it with Gen parts just to get it to run right. 

What do we think about just having a Wristie thread in perpetuity? The participation level on a daily basis for a new thread each day feels a bit lackluster. It may be cool to have them all consolidated.

Just a thought.

Thanks for your thoughts. I agree with a lot of it. With that said, I wouldn't hesitate to send a IHBB to someone like @misiekped to service over a Rolex service. Yeah, wouldn't have the papers, but I would be confident in the work and ok with the cost. 

I dont think that I look at watches in terms of investment as I do in terms of value. I'm cheap at heart, so I have to be ok with spending the money, or at least know I can get it back out if needed. 

That said, this is mainly a result of hitting walls trying to find the "perfect" dial for my 5513/12 PCG build. 

This has been a bit slow going between hinting for various parts as well as scope creep (see my Tudor BB post in general)

I bought a Benarus that I'll harvest the 2451 out of and service it. If I just breathe on it the movement starts ticking so I can't wait to see the reserve once serviced. Benefit of 18000bph, I suppose. 

I also ordered a coupke couple sets of hands from JK that I'll be testing various aging techniques on. I figure if this is supposed to be from 1963, shinny gold hands wouldn't look quite right. Any suggestions on things to try, let me know. 

Finally, I ordered Raffles #1 and #2 holders. It looks like #1 will work - outer diameter fits in the case and the movement fits snug in the holder. This should save some folks money over the Yuki should anyone go the same route I am. 

I know it is a completely subjective matter, but I'm hemming and hawing over it, since I've fallen in lust with it recently. I like the in-house movement from a collectability standpoint and love the rivet bracelet. I also like that it could be a birth-year watch for my expectant daughter. I hate that they went with the shield over the rose.

With that said, I'm worried with how large it sits. I had the Steinhart Ocean One Vintage and ended up selling it - mainly because I didn't bond with it, but I did realize that it sat a bit large on my wrist. 

Seems you can find them for around $3k depending on the dealer. For that one could go a different route towards collectability like a fair to good condition Autavia or other vintage chrono. I realize it's a different world, comparing the two, but these are both kind of my obsession lately. 

This is the scope creep that happens to me on every build.

Yeah I had that on a PC with Chrome for quite a while, too. 

I have a 2894 that needs servicing, but I feel this won't touch on that. 

Im confident tearing in to 2824s and 3135s, but realize chronos are an entirely different beast. 

Eh. I get it. I've been in that spot. I'm hoping any additional info I can provide can help narrow it down. 

I was was hoping it was theme related cause that's a easy fix that I've run across with invision.

I'd tried that and I still got the error. I also tried in the other theme, as I had remembered issues sometimes being related to themes when I owned a board on IPS fourteen years ago. Still got the error in the "light" theme. 

Same thing for me. Seems to occur on threads that are multiple pages. I get it when I click on the "first unread post" icon, or any page icon. This is on mobile and Chrome.

I feel like this would be a good sticky in here. 

Sounds very similar to a different corner of the web that I was and am in where there was break-off boards. Our final board celebrated its 15 year anniversary in January. 

Thanks for for sharing the history. This is the last of the "big three" I found, but is by far the one I feel the most at home. 

I know there's a lot of smarter people than me that say they don't need to be on there. For some reason I think of it like a car sitting. Oil gums up. I know it's just my own conjecture, but I've come to more issues getting a sitting watch going than one that has been doing nothing but sitting on a winder for 6 months.

Could you tape off the dial to prevent flaking? Painter tape maybe since it's not a strong adhesive? I suppose it depends on the level of finish the dial resides in during the work.

As long as it has options for rotations per day and direction, you're good. If you want a solid motor, anything with a Mabuchi will suit you.

I think ST, watchman, and others sell that one. It's s cheaper than WSO's option, too. 

What did you use to polish it? I've seen everything from a dremmel to a drill press. 

For those with more experience, is the WSO bezel assembly worth it? ST is much cheaper. Clarks is currently out of stock. Which one of these three is best for the money? 

It's tempting to do that, but I've vowed that, unless the thing is hideous, I won't gut it.

I've run and owned several message boards using Vision and IPS. There are multiple safeguards you  can use to prevent a member from creating a new account.

I would say the same exact thing. Black dial Daytonas are the sex, though, so you can't go wrong.
