  1. MONDAY I got my PAM 190 modded back from TWP, woo, I'm super happy! On the Paci Senape and my Giorgio aviators. Just enjoy this shot. God knows I have since last night! I think TWP also gave me free single-sided AR. Looks awesome. Oh that lovely OP logo crown. After 6 seconds under UV-LED torch. With my Palm Sunday souvenir. TUESDAY Joining Lanikai with the tux-dial PAM 199 on the Bob Vanilla strap, atop my beige Chanel handbag. Agree it's not close to gen but even without AR, it's a gorgeous watch!
  2. Hadn't clicked on the Wristcheck thread all day. Worth waiting for! And sorry, V. I love the base so much BUT my first gen WILL be the 111 just like Slai and Golfman. BUTTER, Slai, butter. @Lanikai: Hold that thought!
  3. I never saw that. Thought it was a chick flick. OMG, the RWG script doesn't allow f-bombs but it does the n-word? I HATE THAT WORD. Curiously, I like saying mulignon (Neapolitan slang word meaning black people, and yes, it's their word for eggplant). Humph. Humans are so inconsistent.
  4. Mmm, Lassi. How I miss that in the UK -- seen here being sold in Wolverhampton. And they don't call you guys Indo-Aryans for nothing. @TeeJay: "Would I be correct in thinking, that at the core, the concept is that by eating something dead, one is 'taking death into the body'?" Like Demon, I am not learned in this topic, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's not a secondary element. The closer you get to the East, there is a feeling that dead bodies are intrinsicly unclean. We in the West had that too (having read Greek plays, you'll remember), but it became muted as medical advances made it obsolete. Ironically, some of the best physicians in the world have been Muslims...but that was well over 1000 years ago.
  5. You mean, like in the subsidiary dairy part of the argument? There might be something in it. It is said that Caucasians are less lactose intolerant than Africans, etc. because of our more intense historical relationship with livestock. I can drink milk by the gallonful and love it -- whereas my Italian-Canadian boyfriend is lactose-intolerant (possibly because of Arab or African descent, in Southern Italians).
  6. As a very small point, that may be true of the deerstalking variety, but those who shoot the winged variety are taught to aim for the head. I used to be a crack shot (for a girl). I prided myself on always getting the shot right (which you can see once your hound brings them back). I have innumerable anecdotes available of my grandfather who went on safaris in Africa. He aimed for the head too, even when being charged. He thought my German grandfather an awful cad, because when they went boar-hunting, it took the latter three shots and a spear to the heart to kill the wee beastie... (I have to say that even when writing this above, even with my love of guns, etc. that I am very glad such days are over in the West. I'm not entirely immune to the anti-cruelty to animals lobby) !!! BUT BACK TO LUTEFISK !!!
  7. Until recently, I didn't know what caused that horrific aftertaste. I Googled one day, and found out it was LYE. What kind of H
  8. I think it's high time someone mentioned the cruelty of lutefisk. Not of killing it, but of eating it.
  9. Even Chinese people in the West agree. Awww.
  10. Very well, I'll retract the specific rebuttal. But I was reacting to the OUTLAWING in Norway of halal practises, a Western European country, which is where this thread has been sidetracked. Perhaps you'll agree, dispensations or not, it's impossible for that outlawing to be made in North America, hence my point.
  11. Western European governments. In North America, it would be UNTHINKABLE to prevent halal practises. Quite simply, there are more Jewish people here, and Muslims are its secondary happy beneficiaries. Not only is population a consideration, but the impact of Jewish culture on American society must be remembered. I'm not saying that Europeans have not felt the impact of Jewish influence in their cultures (entertainment, etc.). But it remains a minority group, made more so after WWII. Ironically, in today's politically-correct climate, outlawing Halal practises would be seen primarily as anti-semitic and VIRULENTLY so. Any number of rabbis and university professors would testify in Congressional Panels, and the hubbub would be extraordinary. That's simply not the case in Norway. Don't feel this response is only about Jewish people. The same would be true of outlawing firearms. Quite simply, in the US one cannot do that because gun-owning culture is driven by blue-collar folks. If it were a hobby of the toffs, like it is in Europe, it would stand a better chance of being made illegal. People with weakened or unpopular positions always get the shaft, as the Muslims in Europe are learning.
  12. P4GTR, you know I'm not an expert in movements, etc. but since you ask for advice here is mine. Visually, decent watch. Because of its blue dial (the colour of an angry sea), I think it will look unusual on any woman. It's got that masculine Breitling feel to it, but not overwhelmingly so -- look at the more dainty onion bulb crown. One can imagine easily Amelia Earhart wearing this. Or myself! And I congratulate you for not choosing the more obvious: Which, to my mind, has little pizzazz and seems more of a homunculus of a watch. The movement is listed as a generic Asian Automatic. I'm guessing the usual A21j. Overall, it's a great watch, but why swap out a movement on a $100 watch with a pricey ETA, if it's that disposable?
  13. I'm sure some lurker is reading this, and laughing at us. Haha, they buy fake watches but don't want their widdle eyes to suffer. Well, actually, that's true for me. I hate fakey sunglasses (and bags). Doc said it right -- workmanship is the key. I found this rough guide online: "SUNGLASSES: ** Logos: Check the logos on those iffy sunglasses to see what material they're made of, whether they're straight or crooked, or even misspelled. ** Packaging: As with handbags, fake sunglasses don't usually come with any packaging, though sometimes they'll be in a clear plastic bag. ** Hinges: Check the hinges for bounce, look to see if they've been painted over, or the ear pieces are mounted straight. While you may be after the real deal for your own adornment, fakes can serve their purpose...". I suggest you go to Fashionista forums, like The Purse Blog or The Bag Forum, and post an off-topic thread about this, Turby. And then you'll know just how scary it is to enter a forum, surrounded by one sex, all leering and slobbering at you from their monitors.
  14. OH NO WAY! I was going to post a Riverdance poster, Ryyannon. I was called away. We're scarily similar, dude. BTW, contentious issue with the Irish, this Mr. Flatley. He's actually not Irish, but Irish-American. From what I have observed, the Irish do not consider the children of expats to be all that Irish. (Unlike, say, Germans who will always be Volkdeutsch centuries later)
  15. Perhaps they're having to revisit the migration, because that was successfully done before the weekend. DuDro, me too. Just checked.
  16. Soz I read. Non-educated delinquent, a quasi-government definition. God, officialese is even more stupid than the people they describe, don't you think? When it's self-attributed, like UB40, it's so much better. Actually, he was much on my mind when I was posting the Billy Connolly thread too. I could've seen him replying and exchanging banter with members... @FF: He wears a PAM! He's just so cool. They said Queen Mum loved him to bits.
  17. You bet I will, and thanks for trusting me, Doc. But please let's wait. No hurries! You JUST never know. I don't give out my details in PMs, so I will send you my email addy. We'll take it from there. Thanks, Doc!
  18. One of my chums is a Guinness. Last year, when Ireland DEMOLISHED England at rugby (43-13), she called me on the phone (from Scotland). And sang Danny Boy. She did that three times all that day. In various states of inebriation. Think I'll send her this Youtube clip today...happy St. Paddy's, you Irish lot.
  19. Not silly. Recently, I read on the gen forum, "Hello from a Paneristi living in Australia". Since the site is called that, POSSIBLY they were referring being members of the forum -- but more likely, no. They thought Paneristi is singular. -ista in Italian is an agentive ending, and it's unisex. I can use Panerista, and so can you, Slai. These suffixes derive from verbs, in this case, the art of BEING a Panerai aficionado, as Laz said. The most famous ones for foreigners are probably tied to sports -- Ferrarista, Milanista, and so on. EDIT: -isti is the plural ending. We are Paneristi, but only one person of either sex can be a Panerista. And yes, I too read that and groaned. There she goes again. Teacher, leave dem kids alone!
  20. ARGH! Sorry about that. Don't worry. I have won these types of "donation" items before. Mod Staff will confirm when I've paid, then I'll PM you. Stay tuned! AND CONGRATS, DOC! For being a great new Supporter member. EDIT: Sent PM to Mods.
  21. Anton, you can change a rating at any time. They are not permanent. (Refreshing the page brings up the ratings again) @Jnagy: Done! At least, until Anton mistakenly rates you with a Spam and WTF again.
  22. I love Billy Connolly. Watching his standup on Youtube just now, I yelped, "Hey! That's a PAM!", on yellow croc. And then I saw this: PVD PAM! On the velcro strap, I think, no?
  23. When I said I was an English country girl, I was only half-exaggerating. My granddad taught me to shoot when I was little. And of course, I fish. So yes, I've killed an animal. Never rung its neck, or sliced its jugular. But killing is killing. I don't look like this though, Marrick. BTW, the worst killing of an animal I've ever seen is when the Two Fat Ladies dipped a live crustacean into boiling water. Nightmarish! How come animal rights' activists don't ever boycott Red Lobster?
  24. Dayum, this guy stole his moves down to the seizure bootyshake.
