Wow! I know, Raijor, you were Jackie Autry's personal towel boy??

Kaktus Drifter strap? @Karetta reply: Very nice. I see it now, yes. EDIT: Here is my similar 177h on Kaktus Havanna.

My Silberstein is as thick as a drum, so yes, that's what it must be for. This is not an everyday watch, but it's just the thing if you go to a vernissage or a jazz club with friends. -
The first intimation this StrapMonster existed, was when I was posting the Wristchecks over at RWI -- I saw a post about them listed in the Top 10 active threads. I'll check it out, but it's always interesting to get new leads, thanks! FOLLOWUP: Just saw their selection at Fleabay. Hmm, no, it looks like Pornthrip and Philip (or CharlyJakob) straps. They sell them over at Risti. Very inferior quality leather, even for their cheapish prices. V was right. They use leather for shoes.

Certainly. Given that only Supporters have that info, I'll PM you and forego the wrath of Admin. :cc_surrender:

FRIDAY See the Andrew PAM 113 here? Take a good look at it, because you'll rarely see it again. I just bought A DAVIDSEN 113, woo! I'll keep the lovely black Jurgen strap I just got though. SATURDAY Raijor is DA MAN! Check out the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak I got from him. It'll be for my boyfriend. A wristie next to my new Zojirushi coffemaker (as suggested by members Xyphis, Ajoesmith and Watchdude). Coffee, tea or APRO? SUNDAY My dirty little secret -- before I got into reps, I bought this Philip Persio Pepsi on Fleabay. Remember when pressing a button was all the lume you wanted? ...HAGWE!

Mmm, great shot, SD4k! That AR shows up beautifully on this exceptional watch. @Scoobs: So you're not getting the Fiddy after all?? @Emmzy: Nice to see you back! And I like all these dads saying they are doing stuff with their kids this weekend. @Swen: Great intro to the Wristchecks! You can't go wrong with a Navi. @ChinkieChuckie: So far, you and Raymond have the best Wristies. Gold Star! @Rolli: Oh, I didn't see your embedded pic. LOVELY 192. Lovely flower in the background too.

Sad, but true. I prefer exposition casebacks, and wearing a Panerai worth 20k which will be brand-new looking just looks ridiculous. And since I keep my watches in MINT condition, it's not like I'll be vintaging them. (Ahem, not to imply the 201a is all that vintage, but you know what I mean) People like Nanuq and Rolli have a knack for wearing vintage watches. But not I. Having said that, if Davidsen had offered a more realistic tone for the 201a dial, I MIGHT'VE taken it. The markers are just 'aged' too darkly. I saw Mr. Fishgodeep, a Panerista extraordinaire, raving about his 201a in the DSN area on RWI, so perhaps I'm wrong. Oh yes, I noticed that too. I'll have a word, in passing, next time. I'm concerned about this lack of Swiss ETA with swan neck, but then, we've known this was coming for a long time. Despite not liking closed casebacks, my next two Davidsens are the 005 (God willing...), and the 228. No, not at all. I'll take a look at that 055 now. As with b16a2, I take my inspiration from others on forums.

FWIW, ZainoDetail, I also was going to suggest the one with classic baton markers. The Arab numerals just don't do anything for me, but your wife may like them since they're not common. It depends how sure of herself she is. This is me wearing a similar Day-Date: The baton markers just have an undefinable touch of class.

Looks amazing, Robi! Congrats.

Indeed! It's the end of an era, if he can't get more. It puts me to mind when TWP was cannabilising his 036 to make the last 177h. No, those are coming later in the year. It's funny you were looking at this Photobucket page, as I was combing over it just now, trying to come up with an 005 alternative. Too bad I don't like the 201a... I think the lack of swan necks may be why he is turning to the closed casebacks/Automatics.

PM Dutchy for info. I bought it from him and I'm sure he knows -- he bought it for his mum. I've polished it with the dread Cape Cod cloths. It looks a little better, as it had lots of scratches.

Today wasn't just a bad day for poor jsmith11; for me too. I'm not getting a DSN 005 after all. The new dials won't be ready until very late February due to Chinese New Year. I've been offered a substitute instead, but the problem is, that's the only watch without exposition caseback I want, save for the 228/229. The 201a is not to my taste, nor is the 000. Possibly I'll exchange it for the Ultimate 113. FOLLOWUP: It's official. I just bought his 113. Sigh. It's not that the 113 is not beautiful -- but it's like going for a Mercedes, and coming out with a Lexus. Sure, it's nice, but it's not what you wanted. EDIT: Well...I was just informed I got the last Swiss ETA movement with swan neck! He has about 5-6 Chinese H-series with swan neck left. I knew that from RWI, where he announced it, but for a watch with exposition casebacks, what will people do??

GASP. Only on RWG. (This sounds like only something a nerdy man with a chemistry degree could dream up...) Well, I've taken my mother's advice and stored these leather straps in between some freshly-laundered cotton sheets. She says they work for shoes, soaking up the odours. That's another gross-out.
-
Good Grief, Charlie Brown. It may be intended for a woman, but it looks like it's posed for a gay man...
-
This? Gay. NTTAWWT. Well, to make this thread practical, what are some suggestions as to taking out the fragrance from a PAM strap? I've tried rubbing it with Lord Sheraton. Nothing. @The Mentalist: Thanks! Will do the cotton handkerchief bit and let you know. My bright idea was to take one of these straps (a pricey Dirk!), and put it inside an old Italian leather duffle bag I have -- Italian leather just REEKS of leather. Delicious. But it just stunk up the duffle bag.
-
And Old Spice too. Not exactly a dandy's cologne. More like great-grandpa's scent. Poor chubbchubb... This thread was prompted by having received two such straps in a week. I have received these before, without mentioning it to a person, even to the seller. @CC: Tsk. LOL.
-
Dear All: Has it ever happened to you, that having bought an used PAM strap, the moment you take it out of the package...A LOT, but a lot of cologne odour is lingering on it. And when I say lingering, I mean loitering. Here is a plea to you Paneristi out there, on these or other forums, to go easy on the Fahrenheits and Cool Waters. PLEASE. That handsome strap you are wearing now may find itself on the wrist of another man, or more probably given my collection, on my wrist. It makes a strap unwearable...

Maybe they think if they run into someone in China, it'll be a bicycle... @Kenberg: Check again. I'm pretty sure it was 64 kph, that's why I wrote 40mph.
-
Yep. I thought it might be the computer, but there is a distinct creampuff beigeness to the dial. I've said this before, but it's like the factories think they can slip one past us. We're not stupid, for chrissakes.
-
Whoa, yes, there is...NOW DON'T GET UPSET, JSMITH. I know what with the previous Breit problem, you must be, "this is just not my hobby!", but it happened to me too. First 6 reps, all with probs. Angus will fix it. Straps: hxxp://www.network54.com/Forum/353393/ http://timeconnection.biz/page/timeco/CTGY/Special And of course, you can get a custom-made one by any of the forum strapmakers: V, FxrAndy, xlr8tn, Savage, Tootall.
-
Ahh, I see. Well, the stitchwork on this one is more discreet. The other one overwhelms the loveliness of your Cali dial (which looks awesome BTW!).
-
Wait...isn't the "Panerai" set too low on the 111e to add the logo? @Peepshow below: Thanks. Not too sure he'll do that for me, but I'll give it a go.
-
Thanks, Peepshow. That is very appreciated -- I just wrote him an email suggesting the 111e, adding the logo, changing the crown, and applying C3 lume. We'll see. Here is a gen photo I just found (that's a Dirk strap, which coincidentally I already have!):

It looks like the other hand-stitched one! I like that one better, I think. The effort is amazing though.
