The days of p**s poor gold plate on reps is thankfully behind us (provided you purchase in reputable quarters!). However the thread initiator is correct there exists a proclivity for steel models. But You need to be very careful making assumptions about reps due to perceived popularity...as the great underswell of opinion rises no higher than the pursuit of the 'perfect sub'. This is most likely due to the dire insecurity of these people (If the psudo personna being invented aspires to the 'lofty heights' ofownership of a megre Rolex sub....and the abject psychological terror of being discovered as the onwer of a fake drives them ever onward in pursuit of the 'outting proof' version), so the likelihood of them ever wearing gold when swimming in such a repressive little pond is slim to zero. .

A bit of 'retail therapy' had me indulge in a little 'comfort shopping' yesterday Bought myself this: Pondered over the options for a while Black Face / Black Strap, White Face / Brown Strap, Numerals or Batons, but this was my final choice. I would not go ANYWHERE NEAR that gold with a Cape Cod cloth.....unless whoever suggested it will replace the watch when the 'Cod has removed all the Gold Plate. Try an ordinary pencil eraser first (you know the white rubber thingie for correcting pencil marks on paper). I also have some Chinese powder used extensively out there for just such problems Good luck! .

Jeees........ If you like it, buy it I have one (In Audemars Piguet incarnation) worn it all over the planet... took no special care of it as a daily beater...no problemo. Incidentaly its the ONLY watch type that actually draws admiration and praise in the Far East And although I can lay hands on them a tad cheaper than suggested here they are a great buy at these prices.

And much of it shuts before then...... also pray that the newspapers arnt up if you do get there. .
