  1. I know the exact model you're talking about and I've also tried hunting out the best rep. So far, this is the best there is: The logo is correct, the bezel numbers are accurate, the pearl looks ok (we've all seen worse), and there's a 3 o'clock marker. It still has some flaws and it's an Asian movement, but for the time being, it looks to be the best available.
  2. Well, if Silix can't/won't help (I've heard a few people received watches from him they didn't order), maybe you could sell your watch to someone on the board and re-order the correct watch? Or maybe arrange some kind of trade? Would love to see some pics. I've been debating getting the "plain" Submariner from Silix without numerals (listed as ROL225), but I'm actually worried I'll be sent the wrong watch and don't want to go through the whole hassle of shipping back and hoping I'll get what I ordered the second time around.
  3. Well, not to seem obvious, but isn't that your answer? I'd think the Omega folks would know best. They're basically telling you the movement is a different size, not just the case. I've worn a mid-size Omega before. It's a smart watch. I understand the size problem -- the AD I spoke to actually told me I'd probably regret buying a mid-size over a full-size -- but it still works as a nice dress watch and fits a little better under a shirt cuff.
  4. I don't understand why many of those who disagree with TeeJay feel he should stop discussing what he feels are poor business practices from several dealers. At least he's willing to collect/share important information about these sellers that first-time buyers should be aware of. For example, if you were going to take out a loan with a bank for the first time and several people began telling you how poorly the bank handled their loans, would you still want to get a loan from that particular bank? Further, would you be grateful that those people told you about their problems or would you insist they might their own business and let you do what you like? Personally, I think TeeJay is looking out for the community and the points he raises can only help strengthen it. These kinds of discussions help improve business practices and weed out dealers who are less than honest with customers. Why settle for what we have now when we can have better? If we stay quiet about it then things will never change and never improve; but if we raise a little ruckus, dealers will have to respond or fear losing their customer base.
  5. An "offender"? I'm sorry, but I've read MUCH worse treatment from trusted dealers on this forum than a seller not willing to send a new strap. Did you suggest an exchange for another watch because the one you received was defective? I think an "OK dealer" like Tony is miles ahead of those who won't even update the pictures on their websites to reflect the product they're actually shipping. Or this little gem: Did Tony ever ship you a rock instead of a watch?
  6. Isn't that part of Omega's new marketing strategy -- to make them seem rarer than they actually are? Heh. Whatever sells, I guess. I wonder if it means prices will also go up. Does anyone know if the 2220.80 model costs more than the 2531.80? (Though I suppose the co-axial movement would also affect the price.) By the way, r11co, which continuity error in 'Casino Royale' are you referring to? I'm a big fan of the film, so I was just curious. It'd be something to look for when I watch it again.
  7. Is it confirmed that a GMT was used for filming, or is that just a guess based on when the watch was released? Here are descriptions and high-resolution images for both of the 'Casino Royale' watches that were auctioned off: Seamaster 2220.80: http://catalog.antiquorum.com/catalog.html...p;auctionid=158 Planet Ocean: http://catalog.antiquorum.com/catalog.html...p;auctionid=158
  8. Right about the time 'Casino Royale' was released, I believe. (Maybe later?) It's the version of the SMP that Bond wears during the second half of the film. Part of Omega's 2007 collection.
  9. Thanks for posting these side-by-side shots, TeeJay. Now I'm even more inclined to pick up a 2220.80 rep. As I've mentioned to you before, I've found one with the 3 o'clock marker and the correct Omega logo (which I know you don't prefer, heh). But I haven't seen any reviews of it online so far, so I'm left debating whether or not to drop the change on it and be the first to review it for others. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps. I definitely like the way the wave pattern stands out on the 2220.80 compared to the 2531.80 rep. But will my 2531.80 be jealous of its younger sibling?
  10. It's a stab in the dark either way. Sometimes a seller sends a good watch, and other times the same seller sends a lemon. Try to find a seller who will show you a pic of the actual watch you're getting. I think Ruby does this, but I also think her SMP is missing the 3 o'clock marker. Precious Time gets good reviews -- not sure about the 3 o'clock marker. Personally, I think it's the worst flaw on the new SMPs and I wouldn't purchase an SMP without a 3 o'clock marker. Try to find sellers who get the best reviews the most often and check out their websites. Maybe ask them beforehand about the 3 o'clock marker and see if they give you a straight answer. A lot of sellers drop-ship so they may just be telling you what you want to hear. Buyer beware is never more true than with reps. There's no one go-to seller for any particular watch since stock is always shifting and what gets sent out one week may be different from what gets sent out the following week.
  11. I prefer the phrase, "Sporty yet sophisticated." The chrono looks nice -- but only because it's based on such a sharp watch to begin with.
  12. Another great Bond watch link: http://www.ajb007.co.uk/articles/007/rolex-submariner/
  13. You could always get a kit car. "Replica watch meet replica car."
  14. Sounds great. Can't wait to see the pics!
  15. I don't know enough about the chronos, but that first PO is really bad. Logo is crooked (seller didn't even bother trying to hide it with any camera angles) and it doesn't say "Planet Ocean" on the back. I'm sorry, but wouldn't you do at least a little research before spending that much on a watch? I suppose "buyer beware" should be the motto of every watch wearer -- rep or gen.
  16. Now that's an idea that should have been followed up on. Anyone with enough knowledge care to take on the task?
  17. I'd be interested. Can you please PM me with the info? Your inbox seems to be full.
