  1. It's not the back that's in question (besides, a caseback would be easy to replace if you could source one), but rather, the dial. Specifically the amount of the "8" that is cut off at the top by the small seconds subdial. Typically (read:always) up 'til now, we have noticed the flaw in the rep is that there is much more "8" than there is on the gen. This watch brings that assumption into question.

  2. Well, to put things in perspective: I acccidentalyy activated these ads after doing some changes to the google ads last week. They stayed online for about 6-7 hours. Those 6-7 hours generated the same revenue as the google ads usually do in 1-2 weeks. <img src="style_emoticons/default/wink.gif" style="vertical-align: middle;" emoid=";)" alt="wink.gif" border="0">

I'd say if these ads are going to generate 20 times the revenue that the Google ads did, and you need the money to keep the site running, then there isn't really a question here.

I do think Cableguys idea about making it ad free for so-called "VIP" members is a pretty good compromise.

  3. I think you might be right. CJF2114 should be the link with a blue dial. The black dial would be CJF2110, but it would have silver rings around the subdials (and clear case back?).

The thing about being a power seller with 3000+ feedback is you can slip 9 or 10 fakes in per year and make an extra $20 000. If someone notices, you give them a refund and say "oops! I got it in a trade, sorry, no harm done". But 99% of buyers would never question the authenticity of a watch as long as they trusted the source of that watch.

  4. Hey all,

ok I picked up this model...

And I'm trying to figure out the era it was initially made. I don't have a Chronolog handy to take a look through, but I'm pretty sure it's not a current model.

Does anyone have an idea when this was initially produced? By the styling is I would almost say sometime in the 60's but i have no way to be sure really.

    Thanks in advance!

    +1

To be honest, I always thought the rep makers were trying to produce a Formex, then decided nobody would know what that was so they stuck a Breitling badge on it. So I'd like to know the answer to that too.

  5. Ill take your word for it as I know nothing about tags especially ones that old...

Even though I can assure you that most of the people here can spot fakes better than most authorized dealers, you don't have to take their word for it. Without knowing anything about the watch, the fact that the case back is "WATERRESISTANT (one word ? ) 200m TESTER (should that say *tested* :whistling: )" but the dial says "300m-1000ft" should ring some very loud bells.

Sorry bud, but that's a fake (My very first rep was a gold SEL with a spray painted bracelet with that exact same caseback and model number)

  6. That was me. I'd hate to see this guy going around thinking it was real 'til it stopped working and needed to be repaired. I love replicas, but really hate people who try to pass them off as gens and rip people off.

  7. It's actually really hard to spot replicas unless you're us.

If you're predisposed to think gen and you see a flaw, you'll think it's one of the many variations in Rolex's history. As for handstack, it's not something they'd ever notice. Look at the face of your watch and now imagine the caseback. What's wrong with it? If you know the faults, it's because you've learned them. You'd never spot some of the stuff we took for granted even if you had a gen and rep side by side.

I never thought about it, but I guess when you put it that way, your absolutely right. I think that knowledge we have that others take for granted is worth the price of admission.

  8. cant agree with ya more!! if it was $300 shippied i would have already ordered it, but $358 shipped is just too much. wonder why this one is $40-$50 more than the new tag aquaracer?? gotta wait to find a better price before i pull the trigger.

It is bugging me that we're starting to see non-chrono reps at $350+ (even if this one does have a 7750). I think at these prices I might just say to myself 19 watches is enough (I have one empty slot in my winder) and become *extremely* selective about future purchases. I would love to see them rep the new Breitling Blackbird Big Date, but not at $400-500 + shipping.

  9. I know that your comment is tongue in cheek, but I hope you include many, if not most, Americans as insiders to the joke. Only a small minority would buy into the slanted perspective you describe. Cheers.

Indeed I include most Americans asinsiders to my joke, but you might be surprised as to how many Americans (and Canadians) actually believe this and criticize our immigration and welfare policies

I buy rep watches and I read the Holy Qur'an...

Does that make me a terrorisisisisisist??

    :whistling:

  10. Very funny...........what's even funnier is that I'm planning to live there

I think you'll find that most people in Canada can, in fact, tell time.

We do, however, have some rather strict laws about misrepresenting the country of origin on manufactured goods (i.e. "swiss made" on a Chinese watch) although I don't know exactly how they'd go about proving that. I'm not sure I'd want to be going through Canada Customs with a suitcase full of replica watches though.

  11. I have tested this site. YinMax.com is definitely a SCAM site!

So what's the scam? Did they take your money and run, or ship you a 17 jewel faux chrono version when the picture was of the genuine watch?

I don't think anyone here would expect to get a mechanical chronograph for $99, and when we here "swiss grade" for $300-400, than we know they usually mean asian 7750 with serial numbers on case.
