  1. Vista will probably run oh so slow on a 512MB specification if she has any plans of multitasking.

I tried with 1GB in my laptop, and the performance monitor said I was using 42% of memory just idling with my antivirus and Vista up.

..this is easily mended by buying 2GB of dual channel RAM off ebay at around $80, though.

I put Vista on my system - AMD X2 4800+ Socket 939 with 4GB Dual channel DDR400 (I know, big deal, but it was a bitchin' sytem when I put it together) and it felt like a K6-2 (I've only ever owned AMD's) That lasted about a month and I got fed up and went back to XP - Vista is the solution to the phenominal performance and durability now available in the computer industry - Planned obselescence.

A Core 2 duo will smoke a Core duo even at lower clock speeds. A Turion is only a little slower and a lot cheaper.

  2. Hey, I simply pointed out that the fact that someone doesn't have a thousand posts in a years worth of membership doesn't make his experience meaningless. Someone was offended by that observation and decided to attack me on a personal level. That was uncool.

How would you have felt if you were banned from RWG (as many people called for) simply because you have <300 posts, but Flav has 1600+ therefore you "don't know what you're talking about" and are obviously trying to scam him?

*edit* By the way, where's all this "name calling" supposedly taking place?

  3. Not really sure, as boring as it may seem the black dial is really nice.

Although i do like the Blue dial

White dial is ok nothing to write home about

I would have asked about different strap combinations, that way you could mix and match.

If I could get all three (which I just might have to now after seeing this) I think I'd go something like this:

    305987-233.jpg

  4. And in that time I have purchased over 50 watches from several dealers condenscending YEARS worth of experiences into those self-same 2 months

I think you meant condensing, but condescending does fit better.

posted to the best of my limited ability to make this forum a better place; and kept my whinging and personal attacks to a minimum.

Who's "whinging"? and where did you see a personal attack (excluding your own post to me)?

From what I can see, this is much more than you have done in this one thread alone, so I'll thank you to keep your ad-hominen attacks to yourself. If not, please avoid me in future.

Get off your high horse. Someone summed it up nicely in the other thread, but twotone censored it for your benefit.

Seems like people really do line up...

I let you have the last word.....

  5. Just one example (I don't have his SOSF, so I can't comment on the validity of PIX's observation)

    Hi,

I have also an "Asian" SFSO for several months now, bought from Andrew.

In my review I had the feeling that the seconds hand was not as smooth as my Swiss ETA based watches.

Your remarks make me just wonder if an Asian 21J @28800 bph has ever existed...

Not so important as far as I'm concerned, it's still one of my favorite watches, and for sure the best value for money around.

But as we are now too often used to say : it's not about the prejudice, it's about getting what is advertized... And our dealers usually hide behind the manufacturer for that...

Who said "we're in the rep world" ?

    And here's the description:

    http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main...roducts_id=1253

I think this would be the bigger issue. Price fixing goes on (I'm from Canada - we've suffered from utility/gas/telecom/cable monopolizations for decades)

But misrepresentation is something else entirely. And since when is an Asian replica with an Asian movement worth $200? You can get a wide range of ETA models from other sellers for that much - though sometimes their service levels leave something to be desired.

  6. I think you're SOL. I've seen that one (except the one I saw had the "open 4" on the bezel - correct for the Aeromarine series)

It's supposed to be a super avenger (I think) but it's like (the one I saw) 5 or 6 mm bigger than my SA rep. You can get the SA rep for around $250, so I'd do that and use this one as a beater. Even if you could find a dial to swap, the fact that it's quartz would ruin it, in my opinion.

*edit* By the way, does your UTC actually run in 24 hour mode, or is it just labeled like that?

  7. Please dont misunderstand I was just forwarding a message from the watch maker, this price was not decided by me, it was told by the watch maker.

Thank you all for your responses, as I am now involved in some of the replication decision, for those we HAVE to do, I have already told them to, and for those I am not sure but they want to do, I post here and see if your response is the same as mine. They have not bought this Porshe yet and I just want to know how the customer thinks with this rep. I think you will not see this rep in the future now =) I really appreciate your help on this thread!

But I am a bit disappointed no one helped me with other requests because the watch maker really need them to finalize some products. But anyway, I will try to get the info as well.

Actually those watches you mentioned, some of them are already in progress and I will be still in the middle-man between the watch makers and you (end buyers) and transfer ideas from you to them.

I know I have been quiet recently because I am working on my personal web-site (www.puretime.org <--please give me comment!) and busy in deciding which genuine watches to replicate =P

For short replies to the members interested in those watches:

    1. IWC Aquatimer (we will have the 42mm chrono version in maybe 1-2 weeks)

    2. Daytona with second at 6 (yeah we are interested in this!)

    3. IWC Big Pilot (this watch never stop from telling from my mouth to the watch makers)

    4. Better Subs and SD, please see the pics below, this is the new ultimate Sea-Dweller prototype, the caseback font is a bit off, valve a bit off, just e-mail me when you find anything need to be corrected.

I don't think this is the same as:

...there will be a new Daytona available in a few months/weeks.

Can anyone tell us more about this rumour?

Yes, you're trying to start it

  8. but is it gonna take long?? 4 weeks???? thanks

Probably. I'm into week 4 now - and still waiting.

Did you not read the post two above yours? It's all there.

That's just the standard rhetoric - 3 to 5 day EMS means 3 to 5 weeks in Chinese. Standard mail means "we won't send you anything, and tell you it must have got lost. By the time you realize it's not coming, it's to late to file a complaint and we can dig up an old tracking number that didn't require a signature that says it was delivered to your town.

  9. NONE compare.. quality and price of both the Asian SFSO and Swiss SFSO are unbeatable. plus the watch is 99.9% accurate to the Gen! Good purchase. Pug confirmed earlier that many of the things that people initialy thought were flaws with this watch are in fact not flaws, because of Breitlings change in 2007 to the SFSO X-plus, which changed subtle details of the Gen 2007 watch and our watch makers based the model off the newer gen! congrats

I have 2 BCE's and have to disagree with you there. Short of the movement being Asian, the newest so-called "ultimate BCE" is 100% faithful to the gen.

*edit* okay the bezel ring slightly obstructs the view of the tachy - so 99.9%

Weak lume - just like the gen

120 click bezel - just like the gen - that actually lines up properly (unlike the SOSF).

bracelet - exact weight, correct model number on last links, date code on centre just like gen

AR - double sided, perfect, just like gen.

    Cheaper than the SOSF

Anyone short of an expert would have to open it up to know for sure - short of checking the serial against the Breitling database (it would fool most AD's that deal with more than one brand).

Some would say the SOSF is more faithful 'cause of the movement - but once your AD opens it up it's a dead giveaway. Not to mention the fact that your bezel is misaligned (I don't know if it's the proper 120 click, could someone tell me?).

Oh yeah, regarding the date window - my guy at LaSwiss (AD in Canada) told me that the boys at Breitling have been know to screw with the photos of their watches by putting off tiny details to create secret "tells" and make it difficult for counterfeiters and easier for the dealers since their brand has been so heavily replicated since the '70's. This may or may not be one of them (or even true for that matter) - who knows.

  10. Just to make things clear, I was not planning on buying this watch. The EVO is great, but for me it's much more worth it to buy silix's ASFSO for 100bucks (i'm looking for cheap right now). My real question was only concerning whether or not anyone has this EVO or any first-hand experience with it.

Check his gallery - He might let you have that EVO for $20 if you buy the SOSF (though he does say They pick the watch)

    Never hurts to ask.

  11. You missed HK45's attempt to use the thread for his own political gain. I mean it takes a driven man to use this thread into proof of The Zigmeister's alleged conspiracy against all other modders. ;)

I actually laughed out loud when I read that. There's been a lot of thread-hijacking for various reasons here

Maybe there's hope for my second-hand pitchfork shares yet. Get him, lads! :Jumpy:

The way people are bashing at each other here I'd say you'll make a killing.
