  1. I took the watch into a Tag dealer and had 2 links taken out

You took it into a dealer to get the links done?? You sir, are a madman!

you took the watch a replica to an TAG AD? thats just stupid.

Anyone ever been caught depositing couterfeit money at a bank (or anywhere for that matter, including McDonald's)? They confiscate it - plain and simple, just take it from you. Imagine if you took your shiny new Carrera replica to a Tag dealer to be resized and you run into a guy who resents the whole replica subculture, grows a set of balls and says "This is fake" and tosses it in the trash bin behind the counter and then threatens to call the cops if you don't leave his store. What do you do?

  2. oh you wait.. they will throw a sec@6 from a daytona in there or something to get the functioning subdial... Then we'll have a another timebomb to talk about...

I just got this daytona with zenith 31 jewel movement and the running seconds @6 works great, they should put that in the YM

    What?!?!

    *EXACTLY*

  3. I have to say every individual component of this watch looks good, but together is off somehow. So I asked a buddy of mine and he said that they did do the diamond markers like that on some of the DD quartz models. The dial does look good (print, font, etc.) but the case and second hand so bug me. The gold/diamond day/date quartz has become a collectible piece, so it would be a shame if this was genuine and someone swapped cases on it.

*edit* - so what's the story behind it CC?

  4. I don't have a problem with this watch. It's an early Oysterquartz as evidenced by the open 9 on the 29 in the date window. Rolex cased a number of the early oysterquartz watches in the automatic cases and ironically, even put a few automatics in the oysterquartz cases. Back in the late 70's early 80's they did stuff like that.

Can you account for the second hand moving in less than one second increments?

  5. Okay, I'm not an expert, but I'm going to have to call this one out.

-Diamond markers are all squared up when they should be arranges in a circle following the curve of the dial (edit - apparently, this has been done)

-Diamond markers should be sitting against the chapter ring (edit - apparently this has been done)

-Automatic oyster style case with standard lugs and presidential bracelet not known in oysterquartz (?)

-Oysterquartz moves in "precise" one second increments and anything less is impossible

    From www.oysterquartz.net:

The drive mechanism for the 5035/5055 is very similar to the design of a traditional mechanical watch escapement. The pulse motor drives a pallet fork which in turn moves a pallet wheel. This wheel drives the second hand at a 1:1 ratio with one tick per second. The hour and minute hands are driven off this pallet wheel. The loud "tick" you hear every second are the pallets engaging the pallet wheel. That is why the tick of the 5035/5055 has such a unique sound and is very much like the tick of a mechanical watch, though at one tick per second rather than the eight ticks per second of a 28,800 bph Rolex Perpetual movement. This drive mechanism also ensures the second hand steps around the dial smartly with zero backlash since the hand is effectively locked in place by the pallet fork in between each beat.

-Second hand on this one appears to be "sweeping". (see picture)

    fake.jpg

Because of this, it should be impossible for the second hand to be in those two different positions on the same watch.

I won't even talk about the 16+ year old battery.

    My opinion: Questionable.

Sorry if I'm wrong (or right)

  6. No the link didn't work either, but when you copy and paste the link, and extract the item description then it will lead you to the item. :)

I tried that too, but all I got was this:

    cgi.ebay.com/RIVET-OYSTER-STRAP-BRA...1QQcmdZViewItem

    no info to extract.

I wonder why the links don't work. It's like the board pukes if you try to post a link that's too long.

  7. Yep, but this one is obviously an automatic (the oysterquartz case where really different, heading to a RO design, without the elegance)... so... is this a gen???

I never thought about it, but yeah, you could compare it to a RO. (looking at my pic now). Like I said, I've never heard of one that looked like that either, but I'm far from an expert.

  8. I'm kind of puzzled by the 'Oysterquartz' on the dial...

    Care to explain???

Rolex made quartz watches (actually they had a hand in their development in the fifties) right up untill 2001.

I'm also puzzled 'cause I thought the OQDD was supposed to look like this:

    19048.gif

I had read that they all had integrated bands (as opposed to the standard 17, 19,20mm lugs on the perpetual models) and have never personally seen a model that didn't.

  9. Sure, 70$ is okay, because it is a bit on the high side, if you know what these cost in reality. :) But then again, tehre's always a huge markup with reps.

@giorgo - I don't know where you find that stuff, but the original link from PP that is to be discussed clearly links to Homers Exclusivediscount shop.

Oh, my bad. PP's link didn't work for most (is it working for you somehow?) so I followed the next post to that auction (as I thought most others didfrom the discussion i.e. $0.99 NR, too bad the links aren't folded, etc) $70 is quite a mark up, considering these are just generic bracelets. (with reps, we're usually paying for branding, not cost).

Yep, ebay links don't work anymore- go to ebay and type in Rolex rivet- or item #260153270906
  10. But I think it's more likely going to end like RepAustria say: 70$ + shipping.

Actually, the last one went for$12.50. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=260147089901 That's one of his highest priced sales.

This one went for $8.01 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=260147090761

This one went for $3.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=260147182210

This one went for $0.99 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=260142551751

Well, actually Homer's bracelets show 70US$ buy it now price...

This thread is about riveted oyster bands on sale on ebay for $0.99 no reserve auctions from seller riyi002. He has no Buy it now prices only $0.99 no reserve auctions. swisspartsuk has the same bracelet with hollow rolled mid-links, like Nanuq mentioned, for $70, but that's not what the links above reference.

  11. Giorgio, maybe you could tell us how you got your link to work- like a tutorial for us non-computer geek types!

If you use the following format without all the description in it, it seems to work. You could sub any item number in there and it'll should work.

I don't understand why the links don't work in the long format.

    cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260153270906

The guy selling these is Homer, he used to deal in reps on RWG. Just good reviews...

The rivet band looks nice, but 70$?! One would at least have to add gen endlinks, as the delivered ones, well, are very inaccurate.

I'm seeing $0.99 NR + $11.99 for shipping. Where are you getting $70 from?
