  1. the etching on the clasp looks rep.
  2. They recently updated it--look at the subdial numbers, all have the same orientation. They also increased the diameter by about 1 mm. I guess this is just a pipe dream for me...
  3. The watch I'm after is ref. 3210.50 (new version of the one posted above). The case diameter is 40mm. This looks like an updated, modern version of the Speedy Pro. I actually just bought a new-to-me Speedy Pro, but I also want a date but can't fork over another fat wad of cash. I could use the Date as a beater when I'm doing something more reckless or know I will be drunk or in a sketchy part of town.
  4. The new Speedy Date has caught my eye... It seems like it would be an easy rep, considering it uses the stock 7750 subdial layout. There's an excellent rep of the Tag Carrera, and the Speedy Date is Omega's version. (or should I say the Carrera is the Tag's version). Regardless, that 7750 layout is extremely common, and they already rep the SMP chrono... I would jump on one of these the minute it came out.
  5. I recently got myself a gen Speedy off the bay, and now I'm hunting for a display back for it. I know leitzozeiss (sp?) got one from another member and it fit perfectly. I am planning to ask a dealer to source one for me, (unless anyone has one for sale?). My question is: the gen speedy has a 42 mm width, but on the rep sites it says that the reps are 40 mm. I do not know if the caseback will fit. Suggestions?
  6. Hi all, Looking for a black ETA SMP (2254) with the correct length hands. None of the dealers I'm looking at have it. Planning to have the dial/hands superlumed, which is cheaper than going gen hands/dial, which will run about 190 or so. Might be worth it, though. You guys know where I can get one?
  7. I work in a cataract research lab a few days a week. Here's my AT in action!
  8. Heh. It's the best looking rep because it's gen. Look at the subdial spacing--can't rep that, my friend.
  9. The hands look short compared to the gen, which is why I want to replace them.
  10. To clarify: I will have the gen hands installed (they are lumed enough, obviously), and have the dial lumed. They fit, right?
  11. I am considering getting a Black SMP (2254). The He valve placement doesn't bother me too much, and I plan to buy the gen hands from ofrei and have it superlumed to get the torch effect. It will be pretty accurate after that, I think. Do the hands fit for sure? Also, I didn't know that ETA was pronounced "etta." Weird.
  12. Since the seamaster pro chrono is such an awesome rep due to the easy to rep spacing at 6, 9, 12, why hasn't the speedy date 3210.50 been repped? It seems like it'd be perfect and the date would also be there. I would definitely buy one of those, especially since the moon watches ALWAYS have the subdial issue.
  13. A $1000 for a Speedy is an AMAZING deal! I've been hunting on eBay, including the completed deals, and it seems impossible to find one under ~$1400. Any tips, or just plain lucky? Congrats on the watch!
  14. If this thing is real... why bother ordering from overseas and dealing with customs issues?! (especially at these prices)... good luck with the real-world counterpart of RWG!
  15. So a function I find hard to live without is the date display, so when I started wearing my moon watch it's been disappointing, because I'd have to pull out my cell phone to check, whereas before I could just glance. Don't know if this is common practice, but now I just set the chrono hand to the second that corresponds to the date. Simple solution that works quite elegantly.

  17. So I was sitting in my econ class, and I spotted what seems to be a sub on my professor's wrist. Thought it was gen, after all, he was a professor. When he started lecture, he took off his watch and placed it on the desk--lo and behold, a display back! I guess they don't pay the professors that well at Berkeley, or he's got a taste for reps! Browsing these forums really gives you a sharper eye for gens/reps...
  18. So I took my speedmaster for a bracelet resize (the pins wouldn't come out with my previously tried-and-true paperclip technique), and as he handed me the watch back, he said, "you know this isn't a real omega, right? Omega wouldn't put pins like these in their watches." Anyway, my question is, what do real pins look like? The pins on my look like a folded piece of metal with a little flare out at the ends.
  19. So my hands don't line up exactly at midnight... seems a bit nitpicky but it really gets to me at the top of every hour, when the hour hand has passed its mark before the minute hand does. What's the quickest way to fix it? If I open up the back, take out the movement and just nudge the hand over a bit, would that work? The reason I'm asking is that I have yet to find a watch repair place that will work on reps... haven't really tried though. Is there a particular way to go about asking them? There's a local watch shop that sells Citizen watches, I think I will ask the person who works there.
  20. Hi all, I recently got into the rep game and now have a couple of watches that I really like (Bond SMP GMT, Aqua Terra, and soon a Speedmaster). I really want to have them superlumed, but sending them to Canada is not something I want to do. Is there anyone rep-friendly in the Bay Area who can do it? Thanks!
  21. Here's the pics for now, my new smp and my older AT, which I bought from a friend and got me into the rep game. My camera phone is garbage. I should pick up a new camera, but I'd much rather get a new watch (or 2).
  22. How did you get a solid midlink bracelet? Does it have the rolex insignia on the clasp? I totally agree--having solid midlinks would probably eliminate half the "is it real?" questions. The other half will always be there... the magical 5 letters on the dial make it so.
  23. Update on this wonderful watch: I tightened the back and both crowns and took it for a swim (after shower testing). I did a few laps... no fog under the crystal! I took it to about 3m, and that's all the water resistance I need. Might still add some silicone grease, though.
