  1. Funny you mention your GMT Nanuq, I was just looking at your pics and thought "Aha, his GMT has the same dial as mine". Up to this point, I had only seen one other GMT with the dial like ours, and that was in John Brozek's book on Rolex replicas. I really need to get up some good pics of that to share, maybe tonight I'll take some pics. Thanks, I was thinking that my GMT had a refinished dial on it, now I feel that I am in real good company .
  2. Will we get the answer to this puzzle, or are we waiting for Ubi to weight in??
  3. Top row, second and third from the left.
  4. This is my gen GMT with a aftermarket replacement jubillee band from Watch Basics.com. They are in California and have these bands for about $50 (no Rolex markings), it has screws for the removable links, and the end links fit the case good. If you want a band with the Rolex markings, Silix, Wo-Mart are two dealers that can probably source them for you. Sorry for the small pic. Since I am wearing this one this week, I plan on taking some better pics of it tonight.
  5. Update, I was watching one of Tyler's shows over the weekend, and it looked like he had a Pam Destro on. Pams are pretty hard to mistake with their size and crown guard.
  6. The Food Network is a real whos-who with watches and sometimes you get a good look with some of the closeups and camera angles. Emeril usually wears a Date-Just, but I have seen him wear what looks like an orange dialed Doxa from time to time. Bobby Flay is always wearing his Date Just. Alton Brown is a watch fanatic since I have never noticed him wear the same watch twice (noticed him wearing what looks like an IWC Pilot once). Wolfgang Puck wears Panerai. Tyler Florence wears many different watches as well and I have seen him wear Panerail on a few of his shows. Paula Deen's sons both wear Submariners and Giada DeLaurentis (sp.) has at least two Rolexes, both mens size. Al Roker wears a Submariner on his show. Yep, we do watch a lot of Food network at our house.
  7. I was watching the movie Appollo 13 on TV a couple of weeks ago (I forgot how good that movie is), and in several scenes you can see Omega Speedmasters being worn. I've had a hankerin' for a moon watch ever since, but I'll probably work towards sourcing a genuine Speedmaster some day. It will go nice with my genuine GMT master (one on each wrist)
  8. My next trick is to try and get a thick plexi crystal to fit on one of my rep Day-Date watches. I already converted it to a genuine dial and I think the thick crystal would be real cool. Cheers
  9. @alligoat, it seems you and I have the same recipe for creating a Date Just Franken, lol. The cases from Rolling are top notch IMO.
  10. Wow, now that's a crystal!! Looks even taller than on my two frankens.
  11. Ok, I rarely post here but this one got to me. If you say that this is a rep, then we all NEED to know its source. I was going to say it was a gen for sure for many reasons. Take a loook at the side shot, the bezel looks way thinner than the reps we are used to, not as conical looking. The dial print looks too good to be rep (even though the reps are getting closer), take a look at the crown logo, most reps are just now getting close to that, and you say you have had this watch a while? Do you know what it has for a movement? For the price you paid, I think you did good!! and don't worry about the scratches, it shows of a watch well enjoyed and adds to its character. THis might be a franken from an MBW-like source, but as many have said, we need to get the Daytona master, Ubiquitous, to look at this one for sure.
  12. The rehaut also appears to have a mirror-like appearence, a definate no-no. This one is much like the old $25 quartz subs of years ago. My $.02
  13. Thanks for the response. As far as pictures, none yet. I have a case on the way, an eta movement from a turn-o-graph, and hands. I will still need the ever elusive spacer ring and a date wheel overlay. So it will take me a bit longer to get all the stuff together. Cheers
  14. Hi all I have 2 Date Just dials that I hope to be using in a couple of franken projects soon and I want to make sure they are full size and not half or "unisex" size. My calipers are measuring 27.6mm in dia, but to look at them they seem small. Got them off the 'bay and they were advertised as full size mens, but I just want to make sure. Any help you all can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Robert C.
  15. I think it depends on how accurate you want to be. I have a vintage Exp II from Silix watch ($60 U.S.) and its gmt hand is independently adjustable, but not like the gen. My reps adjust the GMT hand smoothly around the dial when apparently the gen adjusts by "bumping" in 1 hour intervals. I have never tried in adjusting the GMT on a gen, I am going by what I have read from other members in the past.
  16. 1. Rolex Sea-Dweller 2. Joshua 3. Yep, still have it an still wear it Cheers
  17. You know, with a high dollar auction like that one, you would figure they would put up more than just one photo of it.
  18. Hi all This topic has been adressed on the other boards, but not here yet I beleive. It seems the latest difficulties with pp have gotten a few of the members to switch to other services. Upon communicating with Joshua and visiting a few other sites, it seems that the new site of choice is moneybookers (sp?). My question, has anybody here in the USA used this service? Was it easy to use, what was the fees and does it seem as though the rep community will eventually embrace this new site as the norm when it comes to transferring funds? Any responses will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.........thank you very much!!!!
  19. Something is telling me to hold off on my next Daytona purchase. Might there be a "exotic dial" 6263 on the horizon??
  20. Hi folks Just moved over from "down the street", or rather, added another rep website to my surfing habbits. Looking forward to more interesting reads and useful information. Cheers
