I think Gens are actually cheaper in the US believe it or not... As for reps... it'd be the quickest way to get a prison boyfriend but if you're into that, ask around... the big green building with the crown on it is a good place to start

Anyone paying attention to what is going on between Russia and Georgia?

So it's better to stand and take sniper fire than try to get away from it/ avoid it in the first place? -

I don't recall saying anything about authenticity...I just said it was a good movie, not a real-life documentary. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/eastern_promises/ <-- looks like you're in the minority. And it made $66 million internationally...hardly a blockbuster but not a flop or a failure. QED -

Yeah what about all those journalists who died after criticizing the former head of the KGB Mr. Vladimir Putin... hmm I'm no conspiracy theorist but the Russian mafia and people like Putin scare the [censored] out of me... PS- anyone seen Eastern Promises. I highly recommend it. -

No offense but I don't think "Classy" when I see a Chronofighter... and as far as I know, they're not making those reps...

Returned it after raising hell for a full refund and purchased a (more expensive) Calibre 564 Constellation in stainless steel after checking the S/N, bridge colors, etc with Omega directly... it'll be at my house within 10 days and then it'll go off to my watchmaker for a few days at the spa. Pictures for anyone whose interested... Movement: (The beauty of functional finishing...greatest movement ever produced by Omega) Dial: Case (One solid piece...watch is serviced through the crystal): Enjoy!

@ Corgi:  Post of the week right there!! Feel better man! Oh, and you know you're addicted to watches in general when the manager and salespeople at Tourneau invite you to work bbq's at the Mgr's house. True story, weirdest thing ever...good time though!

The phone looks cool and I've yet to see the features but in my mind TAG is overpriced for the mechanics..but TAG is where Omega was 10 or so years ago, they're trying to reimage themselves into a more prestigious brand instead of (this is true for the wealthy parts of New England) being an "Entry level" watch you might get your son for graduation. It's not that we, the "colonial cousins" really made it a mall store watch...TAG themselves are responsible for who they allow to become authorized dealers, placement of displays, the direction of the company, etc. It's not like a McDonald's franchise, you can't just pay your $50,000 and sell Rolexes or Pateks...each brand has dealer reps that (are supposed to) painstakingly ensure that the way their watches are taken care of: from shipping them to a Tourneau to displaying them, to selling them, is carried out according to their contract with said reseller and, by extension, ensuring that TAG's corporate philosophy is fulfilled. If they get a "mall watch" reputation it's because...they are. It's no slight of the American public, that's where TAG, as a corporation, wants to be. Rolls Royce does the majority of their business in jet engines but their jet engines aren't that much more prestigious than GE... Mercedes is marketed as a upscale/luxury car in the US but in many European countries they're still used as taxis... you don't often see that with Ferrari or McLaren and that's because when you try to reach a broad market you, by definition, sacrifice exclusivity and (in most cases) prestige. LVMH is using TAG as a cash cow much like Swatch used Swatch brand in the 70's to bankroll the reemergence of Omega and other luxury Swiss watches... there's nothing "wrong" with that but I think that to be considered a true, exclusive luxury item, you must market yourself as either the ne plus ultra (as Rolex does) or remain as exclusive as possible. Around me, the "prestige" goes: In ascending order: Citizen, Seiko Oris Longines, TAG Omega, PAM Rolex, IWC, Glashutte JLC, Blancpain, Breguet Patek Phillipe / Vacheron Constantin Not really debating the merits of this...however after having just purchased a lovely Omega Constellation Cal. 564 (after returning the piece of [censored] Franken mov't one I brought on impulse from a reputable jewler (without checking...I know, I know)) I've been really interested in 1950-70's Omega's with the 561-564 movements... totally inhouse, beautiful to look at, extremely functional and well-designed and held in high regard as being some of the greatest in-house production movements ever produced and I think taking the cake as Omega's "best movement ever". I'll reserve judgment for the phone until after I see what the hardware is like but it certainly looks cool and retains a lot of the TAG sporty essence.

Hey, You could try: Timezone.com, watchuseek.com, pmwf.com

Hey all, So I picked up an Omega Constellation for around $450 from a reputable antiques shop on Newbury Street in Boston. While the bridge indicates a "561-1" movement, the rotor and winding bridges say "17 Jewels Unadjusted." (To the best of my knowledge, the Chronometer movements should say 24 Jewels, adjusted to 5 Positions, 3 temps etc. In addition, the acrylic crystal has a strange magnifier I've never seen. I'm not "AS" concerned about the winding mechanism as I'm sure once the watch is serviced, it will run fine... even though the bastardized bridges anger me...I just want to ensure that the rest of the movement (the actual TIMEKEEPING portion) is accurate/ chronometer grade if, for some reason, I can't return this watch. It seems to me (from the color of the metals) that everything but the winding gear is "Chronometer Grade" 561 while the rotor and winding bridges were taken off a scrap movement (Notice the damage to the (click?) ) wheel. I would appreciate it if you could give me any feedback on what I have here and whether it's worth salvaging or simply returning (if that's possible at this point). Thanks in advance! PS Images are in the Photobucket below: http://s529.photobucket.com/albums/dd338/Shundi-WatchPhotos/ some Gen info for comparison... http://users.tpg.com.au/mondodec/movement3.pdf Again, thanks in advance!!

OT Mil_Sub but you realize that you took Rockefeller's quote completely out of context right? He's discussing internationalism and countries working together for the benefit of one humanity. "I think without internationalists like you, the international system we have been trying to build, the international system we have today, wouldn't be here." * UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, at a book signing for "Memoirs" at the UN headquarters in New York, in 2002 -
I'll be very sad if she's jumped ship to RG...she got me really interested in this hobby...

Are the Olympics affecting watch shipping and ordering?

Ha, actually, everyone buying fakes and such without government interference would be much more capitalist than the government shutting down production -

Yeah I saw this...I personally think with Putin still pulling the strings (and considering the comments he's made about America, the EU, etc) we'll be heading back to the 70's/ 80's in a decade or so... -
Hmm I'm very interested...can you PM with pricing info?

It's no secret I'm a huge IBM / Lenovo fan and I've compared the Lenovo X300 and the Air... I'd reccomend using both and seeing how you feel. The Air is impressive and the X300 is equally impressive.
