  1. That olive strap was purchased off of a Risti member...and he forgot who the strapmaker was. I bought it for about $120 if that helps. :p

That "olive" strap is actually my Golden Brown strap that the previous owner had gotten soaked in a heavy rainstorm while riding his motorcycle. If he charged you $120 for it, you could have gotten it from me for $85 brand new and not damaged. Here is what it looks like without damage:

  2. And if anyone wants to buy it...let me know. The buckle portion has shrunk from 24mm to 21mm......however the tail end stayed at 24mm....don't ask me how.

I too would like to know how it did that. It's a great leather. My favorite of all the leathers I have. I actually have 2 I have made for my personal use.

  3. Tootall,

There are pictures on the 'Risti site with wristshots. The watch wears HUUUUUUUUGE. I could not have imagined 60mm wearing as big as it does.

    Check it --> http://www.network54.com/Forum/353391/thre...B%29+--%26gt%3B

Yeah I have seen those, but thanks for the link.

IMO it doesn't wear that huge. If DSN truly does have a model like this coming out and it looks close, I'll be getting it and let you know if it wears big on me.

  4. Different I guess,

I could live with the angular CG but from that picture the strap looks out of proportion to the size of the lugs.

60mm sounds like a monster though so if that's a 26mm strap its not going to sit well on a normal sized wrist

If it stays true to the vintage Egiziano it will be a 24mm strap. I have seen some other pics of it and the strap that it does come with is quite nice and is even has the sewn in vintage GPF Mod-Dep buckle.

60mm isn't really all that big when you think about it. That dimension is the whole watch including CG. I mean it's not small, but the 44mm PAM's we wear do no take into account the extra thickness of the CG.

  5. The same in 47mm will be very nice.

But 60mm ??? who can wear it?

    DSN have one 60mm who will be sell in the next month;

I have see pics and i am interested to buy one to complet the vintage collection,

But all will depend of price, as i think i will never wear a soooo big watch.

DSN one will be of stainless steel; We can imagine the wheigt !

Not for swimming or you will be obliged to dive

Do you still have these pics? Or should I contact DSN for them?? I would love to see what he came up with.

  6. LOL

    I recognize that watch! It's a 010, though, not a 113, tootall. ;)

Here's another pic of that strap on that watch.

    DSCF0828.jpg

In fact, I'm going to go swap that strap back onto the 010 right now, thanks tootall!

DOH!! My bad, I should have looked at the watch instead of posting first. Thanks for the correction :)

THE best strap for a white dial Pam is without any doubt the MP4

    dsc04959sk8.jpg

I have a strap I call the 4PM, I have compared side by side with the MP4 and it's very close (except mine is 100% handmade and NOT a mass produced machine made strap. Half the price too!). Here is a picture of it on another PAM, but you get the idea:

  7. That one is from tootall and is very reasonably priced.

Thanks for the recommendation kruzer00. That is my B2 leather with custom finish and golden wheat thread.

Kruzer - do you have a link for totaal? thanks

To clarify, I prefer something classic, contrast-stitched, nicely thick, aged but not distressed or faded, a nice deep rich dark brown colour, not as easy as one would expect.

    You can PM me :)

How's this look? It's totally different than the papaya MP, but it meets the requirements quoted above:

    IMG_3190_2_1.jpg

I have all varities of thread color as well.

  8. Yes it is a gen 616 and keeping unbelievably good time. The strap is actually not a GSD but a Tootall which came with the watch. It is very nice and comfy and I think his prices are very reasonable.

Thank you for the correction and the compliment. This was a special strap done for this watch. If I would have had the money this bad boy would have been mine! :D

  9. I ran that facility up till Jan. of 2007 yet still work with vendors of these types to this day. That is why I want to know the names of the companies you talked with as I would have a vested interest in discussing work opportunities with them on a professional level as this would definatlely help time to market and save on some of my R&D costs which in turn means less of hit to my budget if they are legit and making educated quotes based on machine setup, machine time, finish time, programming time (if any), CAD/CAM time (if any), tolerance requirements, material costs, and time constraints.

A another big one is if you had a part in hand when you discussed making these parts with them or was it done over the phone and via pictures and if you went as far as a real quote or a guessitmate based on small talk. These are legitimate questions if you want to say openly that you could have had these made for around $15 after members have paid for them. What you do with comments such as these is make people wonder if V has taken them for a ride. While it might be out of interest in helping others, without substantiating your comments with hard facts (such as written quotes or the names of these companies), you do the opposite.

IF true I'll apologize for being a doubting thomas and eat crow but as Rod Tidwell says, "Show...me...the...money."

As for accuracy of the parts, while I see some variance in the very tip of the lever and what appears to be a difference of maybe a .5mm radius difference in the opening, I would personally call these a 1:1 replica taking into account tolerance variation which you will also find on the real product between runs and even within the same run.

Well then PM me. Like I said earlier I do not think this thread is the place for this discussion. V brought a great product to the masses and he deserves whatever he wants to charge for them. People are not complaining about the cost. So no concerns there.

  10. gavidoc, I appreciate your comments. Thanks for sharing your experience in the field of part sourcing. I guarantee you the companies I talked with and got quotes from are all legit. Furthermore, I don't know when you worked for one of the largest appliance manufactor's, but there have been great leaps and bounds in the past couple years in machining. Heck you can get a 3d scanner for your desktop now for under $2,500. I don't think this is thread to talk about it though.

All I was pointing out is that pictures that V provided showed that the finish was not up to par with the gen. Many people seem to have gotten theirs and they love them. I am glad. I said it was a great thing he was doing in making these available to everyone. I don't have any in hand so i can't comment how they look in person. All I was going off of was V's pictures.

    Tootall,

I would love to know your source that can do small watch size parts for around $5 a piece in small quantities via laser machining (remember each CG is 3 parts) including materials. I ran the ID R&D Shop for one of the largest appliance manufacturers in the US for 8 years and outsourced intricate parts to numerous machine shops across the country when the workload was too high for my team to handle. Most of the time I was doing small runs of parts and there was no way in hell any of my vendors would have been able to meet my tolerance requirements, finish requirements, time constraint requirements, numbers requirements, been able to do 3 different parts by CAD then machine, delivered both the CAD data to me and the parts and been able to stay in business with the equipment they used, and the pricing you're talking about.

So please, if it is a legit business, I'd love to know who it is. Otherwise,

    To V,

Fantastic work and I'm sorry I didn't commit the first time. If you have any left or plan on doing more I would love to get in on the next batch.

  11. Are you serious mate? The cg is made 1:1 with almost 0 tolerance. The company is one of the best here with the best new state of the art 5-axis CNC machine.

Here are some photos to prove you that you are wrong in everything that you said above..

On top is the gen lever and on the bottom the rep. If it was too large you could have seen it from the bottom.

I know you never had an h series cg in you hands so how you can say by some photos if pin and lever are big and radii less? I have sent it to members that have genuine 111-112 and 005 and they say it is spot on.

You have sent me numerous Pms requesting cad files to do the cgs yourself. That ain't gonna happen so please stop telling nonesense in this thread because I never replied and agreed to give anything you..

Because if you believe that you can make them for 15$ you are naive... unless they will be made by slaves in China in thousands of pieces or in a basement in US crafted by hand by an old man.

We have seen the results of 'cheap' work in some of our reps.

Whoa Whoa, I said it was a great effort. And truly it is one of the best out there. I was just stating that it's not 1:1.

Here are some of your own photos with the highlghted problem areas:

    CGcompare.jpg

    levercompare.jpg

The first picture shows that the inside radii is not to the same tolerance as the gen. Also the straight going to the radius is not smooth, but looks rough.

The second picture shows that while it's a good copy, it's not 1:1. The bend on the end is not like the gen and the round piece that touches the crown is larger. Not by much, but it's larger.

So then, as to your comments on me sending you numerous PM's requesting the CAD files, I have those as well (numerous is a bit of an exagerration). I never demanded them in an effort to make them myself. I only tried to help you out by giving you my sources for making them. I thought this was a project to benefit the community more than line a pocket. I have no problem with you making any money or tons of it, more power to you. I was simply and nicely trying to help :) I know for a fact that you can get them made for around $15 each in the USA, not China. And by micro machinist using axis lasers with a much higher tolerance than any CNC. That's materials included.

  12. It looks pretty good V. Although it's still not there. I admit this is the first one I have seen with he curvature that should be there, and that looks great. But the inner radii where the crown goes, looks to be less than the gen and much rougher. Also the lever itself looks too large along with the pin.

Are you going to do subsequent runs? If so, you may want to use a different machinist with better tolerances. I hope they at least gave you the CAD file that way you could go to different micro manufacturers. I also do not know how much these cost (last I heard was in the ballpark of $150 each), but I do know that you can get it made for a tenth of that.

  13. I just wanted to add (so there is no confusion) that the Moroccan sunset, Blue Steel and B2 are all my leathers. I make them 100% by hand. I personally make them, and use no electrical or mechanical device what so ever.

Simona's is the blue one. She does not make her own straps. She has a factory to machine make and mass produce the straps for her. That is not a guess or opinion. It's a fact from her own mouth.

I do NOT want to get looped in with a machine made, mass produced strap.

  14. Pics? ;)

Sorry I dont' have pics of that combo. :(

That strap does look very nice, could certainly be a contender! What's the movement in that rep, by the way? It has unusual engraving - more like the pre-ETA engravings on Pre-V models?

Thanks for the compliment. That's a vacuum non branded watch (it's not mine, it's a customer of mine), and it's a 100% Swiss like you would get from Ofrei.

  15. I have to agree with tootall on this one, I love the moroccan sunset with the blue stitch.

tootall, have you ever done one of your blue steel straps with blue stitch? I think the color of the blue steel hide would look really good against a Ti case......

Yes I have. It does bring out the blue tint of the leather a bit more.
