Europelli also did baseball glove straps.
Not to threadjack, but the correction is baseball glove leather hide. They did not take a baseball glove and cut it up.
-
Well, they say that nothing's new under the sun, and I seem to recall football and basketball straps on Europelli's site last year.
While that may be true.... it's not very accurate. Europelli used new football grained leather. Anyone can get this type of leather. It's in stock at many leather suppliers.
Mine was an authentic NFL commisoner signed football from the 70's (I don't 'think' old skool's is authentic). A friend of my dad's had season tickets and caught this ball during a Saints game. So Europelli's and mine are not at all the "same". However, you can see just how much old skool copied my design.
-
Just so everyone isn't under a false impression that oldskool came up with this idea.
Here are the football straps I made 3 months prior:
I don't mind people copying my ideas (the whole imitation is the most sincere form of flattery deal), but he could have at least changed it a little. I think this speaks volumes to the type of person old skool is.

Hey V,
You never replied to my thread on the other forum. I showed some pics of the so called Strapmasters GPF, attached to Big Egiziano's in the collection of Panerai in Italy. So while your list is a great starting point, it is not comprehensive. Your thoughts?
-
That is a 210H with a Swiss E movement. It is not supposed to have that movment in it, but it is Swiss and the dial looks good. Good looking watch. PM me if you want need anything else.
-
I doubt it would be OEM with stitching like that...
but really, you must be easy to like a strap with so little to see like in that photo... do you have a better shot of the strap?
Then you need to look at more OEM straps, my friend. The Jules Verne as well as a few if not all other exotic OEM straps are stitched like that.
-
It looks like a burgundy OEM croc.

anyone have a direct line to JimmyFu?
This would be the best idea. But from what I have gathered over the years, it seems that not even Jimmy has the cad files he needs. He more or less gave the parts to a manufactor and they built and scanned everything, and do not realease that information back to him.
I have even tried to get the files from Palp himself and also his partner. But they are not the most urgent of folks and last contact with them took 2 months.
-
Hey all,
If someone could please give me the proper dimensions, I could have a CNC ready file in less than a day. I have some of them but still need others.
width: 1.95mm
diameter: 10mm
teeth height: ?
ditch height:
etc
-
What is the diameter of the crown?
-
I am still having this problem. What is it?
-
How thick are they?
-
That's an OEM strap. I can get the model number for you later, but you can find these every now and again over at the gen boards. It will run anywhere from $150-$200.
-
old skool, that is NOT a swiss movement. Those clones were and still are sold as Swiss, but there is not a Swiss part in them.
-
so... tootall, u mean that my watch was installed with the swiss-based movement decorated with Asian pieces for cosmetics, or another way round!!?? coz my 111H i'm wearing is installed with the movement in those pics i've posted.
I'm so confused now, haha....
If your watch has the movement that is in the pictures, then it's Swiss. Where did you get your watch from?
-
Now i can source the pics from my local dealer website.... so I borrowed a few pics and share with u guys..
The first is the overall look of this movement.
This pic shows some improvement of the latest movement.
1. The dagger
2. the "6497-1" engraved
3. Small font for the "Officine Panerai" letters
Hope this could bring some thoughts out of tootall....
Share with us, man!!!
That's exactly what I needed to see. That movement above is Swiss base period. The only Asian parts are cosmetic. If that is the same movement that watchmark has in his watch, then that is the first true Swiss with dagger I have seen outside of Davidsen. But watchmark's looks a tad different. So, I would really like to see if someone actually got one of watchmark's watches and could take pictures of this same area as the pictures above.

My Asian clone? I don't have an Asian clone. What would you need to tell me, feel free to PM me. The only thing I see here is that the writing is a bit smaller, which is more accurate. I msut admit though that I haven't really been following things probably as well as you did, still, it doesn't look any special to me.
I didn't mean your personal Asian clone. I was using "your" in the general sense. IE: that car is not your average beetle.
I think my 111H is exactly this one... with the smaller "Officene Panerai" than usual on the movement.I dont know if it's a real swiss like the seller told me or not, but I'm just satisfied with the look of it.
and tootall, please PM me if u'd like to expose sth. Im ready to take any facts!!
^_^
If it is, I would love to see more pictures of it. Mainly the balance wheel stopped and a closer look for any ETA markings.
-
Well, then you certainly should search the forums, this is the latest version, dagger swan neck, pallet fork bridge instead of [censored], fully Asian built to what I have inspected. Not interchangeable with Swiss parts and a copy of a 6497-2 @21.6kbph.
Umm, no this isn't just the same. I have been following the 6497's through many many changes I know everyone of them by heart. I have not seen one like this ever.
This is does not look like your standard Asian clone. I can tell you more by PM if need be. I want to find out if anyone has this movement first before I point out what may one of the biggest upsets in the PAM rep industry.
-
Usual H-Series Swan Neck, isn't it? I doubt it is Swiss ETA, as those used to be all Chinese movements... I wonder why the CDG finish on the balance [censored] is so coarse, while it looks rather fine on the other bridges...
No, this is very UNusual. I have not seen a movement like this one before in a rep.
I would like to know about this movement. Who do I need to contact?
-
Does this movement look like a different rep movement?
The engraving seems smaller and more gen-like:
That is a very good looking movement. But who is to say that if you ordered from there, that would be what you received?
If it is what you received, I would be very interested in seeing more pictures of it. Especially with the balance wheel stopped.
-
It looks like you have a Asian 6497 clone with a swan neck regulator and the sword hand
Yep, that's exactly what it is
-
Thanks for the write-up.
Could you please let us know what tools you are using? And maybe the spring issue that arises with the daytona's?
I would like to do this, but the only thing holding me back is the taking off and putting back on of the hands.

Are you using the Ultra fine powder that he sells?
I have used Noctilumina with good results, but only with the ultra fine powder. It is much closer to Super luminova in grain size. And it mixes better as well.
You have to make sure to tell the guy that you are using it for watches and that you want the ultra fine powder.
The Zigmeister, no disrespect, but this Noctilumina does glow brighter for longer than C3. The advantage of Super Luminova (and it's a major one) is that since the gen makers use SL, they have standardized colors for the lume. Which makes it look closer to gen. Not to mention a smaller grain size which applies better. Although the Ultra fine Noctiluma is so close you can't tell a difference.
The binder is actually better with the Noctilumina. But again, there are only two colors.
-
Can any of our fine dealers source this
Or do I have to get on a plane to asia myself....
Just saw one in the ST Dupont store...it is smokin! Along with the pen and ashtray.....
I have tried and tried to get a rep of this one as well as the black and silver model. Sadly, it's a no go.
I also have tried to get the limited edition Cohiba one. I only saw one guy at ioffer selling the Cohiba one and it was all gold, so I was not crazy about it. Also, who's to say what you will get from an ioffer person?
The only cigar marca lighter I was able to get, was the Cuaba. And it is a beauty!! I can take pics later if you want.
Btw, Cohiba maduro's suck IMO.
Wanted to share pictures of a football strap I made
in The Panerai Area
Posted
I think people just like them. There is no connection between Metta and Panerai, but people like those.
