Praying is exactly what I am doing. My approach is that once it is in Spain it is the seller's problem. If it gets hung up he can go look at it and make up his own mind what he wants to do about it. This is not my watch. But just in case, does anyone know a leg breaker in Gerona?

I am waiting it out for true 8 day movement. The Chinese factories now make a more reliable tourby better than the originals. Between the IWC's (Big Pilot and new huge Ingy) and the new PAM's there is enough money in it for someone to do it. And the general trend in watches is toward multi-barrel movements so the legit chinese factories will be making them for their "homage" watches. It is funny how "homage" movements migrate into reps.

Without putting words in his mouth I believe he is making two versions - one for date between 4 and 5 and one for 9 o'clock.

No problems on outer AR coat. The stock coat seems pretty good.

I know it has been shown before but I could not resist. We know where this one has been. It has movement and day/date wheels swapped and complete relume with multiple coats of gloss. This one has been getting alot of wrist time lately.

I need to ship a rep with box and papers back to Spain. It is a long story but I am in the ridiculous predicament of having bought and paid for a gen watch (PAM of course - ) and received the wrong watch. The seller is acting as intermediary and his office sent me the wrong watch which he readily acknowledges. He has the right watch but needs to get the old one back. Now here is the ridiculous rub. The watch I received was a rep. And yes I have confirmed the watch I am getting is a gen. So here is the question: What is the best way to ship a rep with box and papers into Spain (EU) and ensure it actually gets there. What do I write on the customs form and between USPS (EMS), FedEx and UPS which would you choose? "Used Wristwatch Return to Sender" or something like that? I don't normally ask these questions in the open forum but I need a quick answer and have no experience shipping anything other than gens into the EU - never mind Spain. Thanks, Kruz

I have a more simplistic approach to this whole thing. If you are spending a reasonable amount of time here and enjoying it you should be donating. The VIP element should be irrelevant. I agree that the VIP acronym is crass. People should be "donors", "supporters" or whatever. Calling someone who doesn't contribute anything and spends more than minimal time here a cheapskate is accurate. The movies aren't free...dinner isn't free...etc. And I don't begin to buy the concept of not being able to afford contributing something. You bought your computer. You probably pay for your internet connection, etc. If you can't afford any amount of money how are you looking at this forum? Actually it is not funny. It is true. So I would urge all to contribute something. And congratulations to all who have stepped up and contributed money to the forum in a time of need.

After all, how many bass players can use 8 fingers simultaneously plus pedal effects and keep track of complex synth and rhythm machines.

Some of the 2893's do have excellent crown guards that are visually very close. It is all in the hole (size of it) - just like women (the smaller, the better - ), the thickness and curve of the lever and the finish of the inner and outer edges. On the movement of the lever you can find prior posts on inserting the rubber casing from a certain size electrical wire on the pin to firm it up.

I would certainly be in for at least one of each dial if you make more than one dial.

I would think the sequence of events would be: - Ensure the base of the CG fits the case snugly on both sides of the case tube first. Should fit perfectly on Jimmy case. On rep cases it may or may not need adjustment (i.e. filing down to match the contour of the case). - Now take it off and install crown, tube, etc. - Put the CG back on and put lever in without pin or with pin but without rubber sleeve so you can properly size the lever and get the pin out. - Adjust the lever (i.e. shave it down) so that the lever firmly contacts while sitting flush within the CG. Not too far in or sticking out. - Now put the sleeve and pin in. It minimizes the opportunity to screw up the pin/sleeve combo.
