  1. That is true in a number of places. One of the reasons why a watch is the ultimate luxury in the U.S. is that anyone with decent credit can finance a house, car or boat but not a watch. In the EU yes, but not the U.S.
  2. It was only a matter of time. Let me know when you are ready to build that franken.
  3. Be afraid, be very afraid. That tiny screw is just too easy to lose.
  4. And yes someone should rep it. It is kind of cool but more like $200 cool. It is not like it is difficult to find 14 year old leather.
  5. I read it but got confused. Is the headline wrong coating and wrong color? It is gorgeous though.
  6. I agree that you should never judge a book by its cover but honestly whether the person is dressed elegantly or like a homeless person it typically becomes fairly obvious pretty quickly. When was the last time someone tricked you into thinking he was poor when he was rich or you stumbled upon a rich man cleaning up your dishes or parking your car. .
  7. It takes all kinds. $18k for a strap that they can't even directly date.
  8. It's less than that but this one has the longer buckle side as well (95cm I think) so you have to have a big wrist.
  9. Sounds about right so I say decent deal. IMHO, a great deal would be in the $8750-$9,000 range. I haven't looked in ages but I know Daytonas come up all the time on the bay. You need to parse through the "sold" for year, box and papers, etc. When I was hunting a while ago there were always several completed sales. Daytona's are probably the easiest to price in the secondary market.
  10. That is an excellent question. My fear on the Breitlings is that they actually have the basic avengers completely down and on the Navitimers I thought some required a special movement or at least one which is not accurately produced.
  11. They say that spending too much time in darkness can drive a person nuts....
  12. Epic. Rotating tourbillon with two rotations on the horizontal axis every minute. I am loving that watch. remind me to play Lotto on the way home.
  13. Yeah the idiot doesn't get that Tom Cruise is doing that with a safety harness and for $50 million.
  14. Watch-fake. Boobs too. But we can work with them.
  15. You asked so now I have to torture you - in XL of course.
  16. Enjoy it. Fiddys rock.
  17. In Eddie's day the closest thing to cartel dealers were Connie and Paul. There were no large scale factories in China and Joshua and Andrew were operating out of photo buckets. I worked with Eddie on one project and he definitely revolutionized the sport. When it was no longer a sport he moved on.
  18. I don't want to be a downer but whoever gets one in hand first please post a wrist shot. I have seen the gen in the last 10 days or so and I would swear the whole green motif is more of a lime like the original incredible hulk (ergo the name). Hopefully 2012 will be my first Hublot purchase in a number of years.
  19. I have to protest on that one. I had nothing but good experiences with him and he was a lot of fun to boot.
  20. Very simple. I always go loose on a bracelet. A half link isn't really the answer. And yes Ap makes them but you need a gen bracelet to fit the gen link. Just remember your wrist can swell and shrink by more than a half a link depending on health, weather, etc. If you need a perfect size you go with a strap or you stick to rolex with that wonderful microadjuster. My 2 cents but it is coming from someone with both rep and gen AP's.
  21. It was pretty funny. I feel like he knows less than when he started his watch odyssey.
