  1. Make sure you read this part from the OP:

"...as you can see the tachymetre markings around the inner bezel came off. I didn't realize they were part of the case and not part of the dial, so when I put it in the chemical bath, the oxiclean stripped it right off. Now it's less accurate to the original..."

  2. I was told by the boutique in BH that the B series was a transitional series from non-AR to using AR. I was researching the 036B. Officially, they said AR started with the C series but unofficially you can find examples of various models with AR in a B series.

  3. This is the funniest thing I've seen in a while. (If you don't know the background, here it is. Jimmy Kimmel has a talk show and as a joke always says "And apologies to our next guest Matt Damon, we're out of time for today" even if he's not scheduled to be on the show. Kimmel and Damon are friends and Kimmel even went so far as to actually have Damon on his show just to tell him "Sorry Matt, we are out of time". Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel are dating so she made this for him as a joke.)

  4. Is it possible to get oversized lug screws and recut the threads? Would be a god solution. Anybody an idea?

Use springbars. River sells them. They look exactly like PAM screw bars when installed but work like a normal springbar you'd find on other watches. Lots of people use them on reps with stripped threads.

  5. I have a Daytona I purchased from Andrew/Josh and it came with a leather alligator strap. I'd like to put it on a bracelet but when I took the strap off, I noticed the head has two extra shelf like parts that won't allow the bracelet to go on. Did they make these watch heads specific to the strap they sold them with? If not, is there an easy way to remove these and put on the bracelet?

    Any help is much appreciated.

  6. Not to threadjack this - but since the results are so amazing - is it possible to increase the size of the 5 minute markers on the new PAM 164? The circles? - perhaps when you are doing a re-lume? It seems like that might be a bit much....

I always find it funny when people say "Not to threadjack this ... " and then totally threadjack it. :)

I don't mind as I just wanted to post the pic. If you PM him, he'll probably see your question. He might not see it in here fyi.

  7. To clarify, The Zigmeister installed a new, non-AR crystal and modified the text on the dial under the "6"?

Did he re-lume the watch? If so, let's see a lume shot! B)

Well, The Zigmeister told me he was going to take the existing crystal with AR and grind off the AR. I think that's what he ended up doing but I can't tell this from a new crystal. There are no marks at all. As for the text, yes, he modified the L SWISS L under the 6. He microscopically it seems covered up the lower part of the L and added a bar to the top of what was left to make it a T.

As for the lume, I didn't have it lumed. I like the uncharged look on the wrist of the numbers. They have a off-white yellowish look. The gen version of this watch is 10 years old now so I didn't want it to glow like it was brand new either.

The hands came superlumed so I might deal with that later. I'd like to fix the CG lever pin but it doesn't seem to come out very easily on this model so I didn't mess with it.

  8. Vacuum is my goto guy for all my work but for my 036 I used The Zigmeister who can be found here on RWG. My PAM 036 was the one that Ruby/Josh sold with the thick crown and tall canon pin out of the box. It came with thick purple AR and L SWISS L on the dial. The genuine 036 has no AR and should say T SWISS T. The Zigmeister said he would be able to perform the work. I think it turned out great.

  9. DSN no longer sells the fiddy.

    "The Ultimate 1950 watch

Sorry to inform you that all 1950 watches with swan neck E movt are not available.

Both Swiss made or China made E movt supplies been supensed from movt supplier. Thus

I do not carry this model any more.

However I still have some small stocks of 217H (destro ).

Pls e mail me at davidsenjpn@yahoo.com for stock and pricing."

  10. For the 113H, you definitely need the brushed CG.

I can't tell if the OP and edition number are correct or not.

Looks good otherwise. You should flatten the CG pin when you get it if you are adventuresome.

  11. During a spell of extreme niceness, I emailed the guy and told him it's fake. I sent him a photo of a gen back and compared it to his. He was really nice about it and said other people told him it was fake but I was the first to show him. He said he'd take it to an AD before the auction ended to have it checked. That was about a week ago.

I just emailed him again asking what happened with having it checked out? I also reported it to eBay. Again.

  12. Indeed! It's the end of an era, if he can't get more.

It puts me to mind when TWP was cannabilising his 036 to make the last 177h.

No, those are coming later in the year.

It's funny you were looking at this Photobucket page, as I was combing over it just now, trying to come up with an 005 alternative. Too bad I don't like the 201a...

I think the lack of swan necks may be why he is turning to the closed casebacks/Automatics.

What don't you like about his 201A? You just don't like Pre-V PAMs? I'm hoping he'll put some effort into some of the dials he has too. I'd maybe get his 055 but the dial is a little too purple than brown. I might be able to live with that but he used straight c3 lume so they are green. His 055 is closed back so that would be a good model for him to fix. His 040 dial could use an update as well since the 2 is shaped wrong.

I also wish he'd spend a week and clean up his photobucket. Check out his 005 bucket:

    PAM 005 NEW VERSION

NEW UP GRADE IN AUG 07

new up grades in april 07

    THE MOST UP GRADED VERSION

Hah. Which one is the latest besides the new one he has coming out? I like the last one. MOST UP GRADED. The new dial will have to top that somehow. :)

His 104 looks pretty good. I emailed about his 229 dial and, true, he doesn't have a pic yet. I've always been luke warm to the GMT models but I might buy his 228 if he gets it mostly right.

Sorry for the rambling post that only slightly has to do with the original topic. :)

  13. Isn't he going to asian only now? I'd hope he gets more than 5 asian H movts. as that is kinda core to his business :)

I see he has the 104 photos up:

    http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e230/watchmmx/Pam%20104/

    I can't find his 229 and 228 photos. I guess those aren't up yet.

He's on fire lately. I really want to see his 229 dial to see if it's better than the one I have. I'll add that to my ever growing list of DSN parts to order if it is.

  14. Not to threadjack - but does that mean that we (anyone) has to provide the right art files and dial blanks - and he will print it?

Maybe we should start a new thread about this. It's something important enough that shouldn't be buried in this thread.
